Driving for far longer than he usually did was a bad idea every single time he did it. Renbob knew that it was a bad idea every single time he did it.
It's not like he couldn’t drive eight hours straight without stopping. It just always left him achy and tired no matter how much he liked driving. He doubted his nerves helped either. He's had to put in actual effort to slow down on the highway before he got pulled over, he's had to shake his hands out multiple times in traffic and in stoplights to keep them from shaking on the wheel, and he's been playing Carry On My Wayward Son on repeat for the past hour on blast to see if that would help him.
It hasn't.
He looked at the time. 10:47.
Renbob pulled over to the side of the road while taking his record out of the player and tossing it much more carelessly than he would have normally. He looked at the time again. 10:49.

Obviously, Doc knew that numbers on an alarm clock couldn't glare at him. Couldn't glare at all even. But it made him feel better if he personified the things in the room. It gave him something to think about instead of his thoughts and gave him something to be mad at.
