Summary
Bucky is a disabled vet struggling with reintegrating into civilian life. He has a routine and a rhythm, and he doesn't like to let anything - big or small - disrupt it. That all changes the day Bucky finds himself inside CATastrophe, the local pet rescue, recovering from a panic attack in the back room of the shop.
He’s used to walking by the place, not visiting, but the next thing Bucky knows, he’s hanging signs and being used as a climbing tree for a bunch of freshly-acquired kittens. And he just...keeps going back. First for the kittens, then for the disaster shop owner who rescues actual kittens from actual trees and teaches archery as a side-gig, and eventually because he’s hopelessly in love.
(Clint was in love before Bucky ever walked in the door.)

Bucky chose to be refrozen rather than risk being triggered again and hurting innocent people, but how will he cope when the cryo facility is attacked and Bucky has no choice but to spend time in an isolated safe house with Clint Barton, his wife Laura, and their three kids?

He isn’t in the habit of picking up strays and he isn’t about to start now. He remembers enough of a life from many years ago to know that picking up trouble-prone blonds isn’t a habit he ought to be falling back into.
Unfortunately, trouble finds him anyway.
He’s cutting down the side-street that leads to the shop when he hears the sickening sound of fist-on-skin contact, and he rounds the corner to find tall-blond-and-trouble in a literal back-alley brawl with four guys nearly as big as he is. They’re wearing black and white-striped Adidas tracksuits, and Bucky hears at least one of them call the blond guy ‘bro’ in a thick Russian accent.
Bucky’s not going to get involved.
He’s not going to get involved, right up to the point that one of the tracksuit thugs pulls a gun out of the back of his pants and releases the safety, and Bucky realizes that he is going to get involved because he’s not going to let anybody get shot in broad daylight if he can help it.
Fuck’s sake.
OR - escaped, former assassin Bucky Barnes accidentally makes friends with a blond disaster. It goes about as well as expected.

“Please stop asking gay couples how they met,” Clint said, tired and annoyed. “Yes, Sharon, I met him on Grindr. I sucked his dick. Then I ghosted him for two months and then he moved in with me. God.”
Sharon gave him a wide-eyed look of disbelief, mouth open as she clearly scrambled for something to say, and then Wanda started laughing. Pepper was quick to follow, her laugh throaty and genuinely amused, and Clint was grateful for both of them.
“My goodness,” Wanda said, eyes sparkling with mirth. “That’s a story to tell the grandchildren. Another round, I think, so that we can toast to Clint’s good fortune.”
Or, the one where Clint and Bucky are Grindr not-boyfriends, Natasha and Steve keep trying to set them up, and there are so many shenanigans.
