He stutters, blushing. Caught. “Err, well, I mean…not exactly. But I have two degrees. Surely it can’t be that hard to locate something in a grocery store. There are only so many aisles.”

Henry had been very pleased to discover that Alex and Nora were also a shoeless household, but he’d stared at the SHOES OFF, PANTS OPTIONAL mat at their door for longer than strictly advised because, well. Pants means something different where he’s from, all right, and Alex had been standing right there and the corresponding visual was not—well it wasn’t—Henry was not equipped to deal with it at the moment. Or ever, really, for that matter.
