The Crows find themselves separated by poor timing and the formation of this seemingly unconquerable obstacle. In the years following, Kaz finds himself living in a world without his friends, truly alone for the first time since his rise to the top of the Barrel, and at risk of losing much of the progress he has made since the Ice Court.

Summary
Wylan, Jesper, and Inej are leaving Ketterdam for a few months when a strange storm destroys their ship and covers Ketterdam in an impenetrable fog. When it clears, Ketterdam is gone. The rest of the Crows must struggle through losing their family and the city that they once called home. Through it all, they struggle to live in a world without Kerch, without the harbor, and without Kaz.
A companion fic to "A State of Separation": you can read this without having read SoS, but it would be more fun if you also read that one :)

She starts to speak, her mouth going too wide, and he braces himself before he notices that he’s doing it. Forces his shoulders to move down from their halfway point to his ears. “Damien al Jewel Wayne, right?” She has a smudge of red lipstick on her front tooth, and he is stuck staring at it. She repeats his name, which he doesn’t recognize as his name, then sticks her hand out. The only familiar word was ‘Wayne’.

The two boys began trading hits, yelling at the top of their lungs. Bruce turned back to the webcam just as Damian leapt on top of Tim’s back, a high-pitched battle cry torn from his lips.
“Mr. Hodges,” he said cheerfully, unflinching as Tim threw Damian into the wet bar sink. “Have you had a chance to examine the chart I pointed out?”
