Summary
Eryn O'Malley is a young, adventurous field medic for the UNSC. She's always dreamed of serving with the best of the best on a dangerous, alien planet. When her dream finally comes true and she's shipped off to the planet B74N-6 with a unit of ODSTs, it quickly descends into a nightmarish ordeal to escape a distant, hostile world. Added to this recipe for disaster is the surviving crew of a crash-landed Covenant ship. Will the horrors of this planet drive these once-enemies together, or will it ensure their final breaths?

Summary
Working as Bloodhound's personal aide surely has it's benefits: Runa meets interesting new people on a regular basis, spends quality time with her favorite cousin, and the pay isn't half bad. Though, one could argue that living on a compound full of war criminals, mad scientists, and seasoned killers is reason enough to quit. One in particular, a cruel simulacrum with far too much time on his hands, has decided to make Runa's lack of fear his personal problem.
Imagine then, when he receives flowers instead of fear.

I remember when I wrote this. I was living with my grandmother, on my father's side. She'd been cruel to me and my sister when we were younger, but she offered to let me live with her for free while I was in college. Perhaps I would've been better off living somewhere else.

Summary
I don't remember the prompt for this one, but I remember our Professor wanted it written differently, to challenge what we thought poetry looked like. It could be more than four lines in a stanza, or two lines repeating a rhyme. So mine looked like a short form story. Simple, easy.

Summary

As your village's trader, you often travel to and from the inner city for various community members. On your way back one day, you go off course because you see something you don't quite believe— a supposedly abandoned harpy nest. You find out quite quickly that everything is not as it seems.
Your once easy life is thrown into chaos as magic, soul bonds, and the consequences of actions, not your own begin to catch up to you.

From Chapter One:
At once, the harpy’s head turned toward your direction.It had a barn owl-like face with the eyebrow tufts of a screech owl. Its eyes blared red in the darkness, illuminating the rest of its face. Its body slowly turned to match the direction it was facing.
Wide eyes met your figure, feathers puffed to look bigger— as if it needed to do so.
The way the light hit its feathers made the harpy look a vibrant shade of royal blue. Flecks of yellow dappled the underside of its wings, like stars reflecting off water’s surface. You would have loved to draw a picture of how its red eyes landed on you.
