Summary
1971. Not the first year of the decade, but still only the beginning – and the future, as ever, is unsure. For Kudou, though, just on the cusp of adulthood, the path his life will take is a certain thing. Until, of course, he meets a boy in a bar, and everything spirals from there.
At the end of it all, it will seem as though they had always been meant to meet that night. He does not believe in things like that, because change has always come from the people. Never the hand writing the rules. But if there is something like fate at play – if there is some great story they must act out, time and time again – it is not written in full.
Rock music, growing up, learning to live, love, let go – and Kudou and Yoichi, over the course of a decade.

Summary
There is a theory of the universe in which it all happens again, and again, and again. At the end of the day, though, the universe is only so much as what the individual perceives – everything exists only within the life of a single person knowing it so. If everything is only what exists to a single person, then the universe must be pulling him along just to keep going: and so he, too, does it all again, and again, and again.

Long, slender hands and hidden smiles, hair set aglow by sunlight and eyes dancing with life. The curve of a cheekbone in three-quarter profile, a glimpse of lips quirking upwards before being hidden away by a fan…
He had not planned for this – not for romance, and certainly not for Shen Qingqiu. But the feelings are there, obvious now that he has given them thought, and he is not one to back away from any sort of challenge. He will accept them for what they are, regardless of the past.
Liu Qingge is decisive by nature. Shen Qingqiu is no longer the man he once was. Perhaps, they can find a new future for themselves.
Written for Liushen Week 2023, and fueled by Sappho's ability to perfectly capture tender longing.
