Summary
Daemon’s hands flex into fists at his sides, then slowly release. Rhaenyra is glad he makes no move to touch her; she’s not sure if she would startle away or accept it, her emotions a tumultuous constant. She sidesteps him regardless, moving forward to keep the tears at bay. His footsteps follow her as she goes back to putting one foot in front of the other, one step further away from the life she had before. This is the farthest she’s ever been from the settlement of King’s Landing, the sprawling village, the only home she’s known, its safety behind metal walls, everything she thought she needed.
And then her father died.
~
After her father's death, Rhaenyra leaves the safety of her post-apocalypse community to see where the road takes her and finds her uncle. Written for Burn Together, a Daemyra zine.

Summary
The Ghoul’s done his fair share of staring at her chest, lately, a fact sitting uncomfortably with him here in the dark of the night, the moon barely a sliver in the sky. Once he was what you might call a gentleman, but now - now he’s simply a ghoul in the night.
He touches her exposed collarbone first with her own finger, sensation strong despite the muted nerve endings, her skin soft and warm beneath the sworl of a fingerprint. When he spreads out his palm, his fingers fan from collarbone to breast. A gentleman shouldn’t touch without asking, but he hasn’t been a man in quite awhile.

Summary
“Cooper,” Lucy whispers at the still form across the hut from her, his body draped across three fold-up wooden chairs. There’d been no mattress to speak of in the ramshackle structure he’d found, but Lucy’s curled up on a two-seater, her pack settled over the spot where multiple springs snuck through the worn-out fabric. Dogmeat lays at Cooper’s feet, her ears twitching at the sound of Lucy’s voice, eyes cracking open as Lucy repeats herself; she’d tried to get the dog to come lay with her and provide a bit more warmth; but for as much as she’s protective of Lucy, Dogmeat only listens to Cooper’s command.

Summary
Abbot lifted his head to look down at her. “See, that’s the post-traumatic stress. Something happens that your brain decides is a life or death situation. You have a massive adrenaline kick while it’s all happening, and then when it’s bleeding out of you on the comedown, your brain throws out anything that’s not completely vital. The amount of car crash patients we have who don’t even remember coming to the ER when they submit requests for their medical records for insurance… the brain’s a weird thing, Mohan.”
“Yeah,” she said, shooting him a look out of the side of her eyes. “It can even make you convinced you have to hurt yourself in order to seek external validation when the most logical course of action is rest.”
He snorted softly, shaking his head and leaning it back. “God,” he muttered, his cheeks stained pink. “Robby was right. You should have gone into psych.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A night shift from hell ends in Mohan giving Abbot a ride back to his place, where tensions finally boil over.
Summary
She looked over at him, startled, but Abbot wasn’t looking at her face, he was looking at her hands where they rested on the table, or maybe at something past her hands that she couldn’t see. “I thought— I mean, you wear a wedding ring,” she said hesitantly.
He looked up at Mohan, keen-eyed and sharp. “Well, I wear dog tags, too,” he said.
~~~~
Abbot and Mohan's unspoken situationship gets out of hand at work, and Mohan suggests a private conversation.
Whether or not any actual talking gets done is another question, though.Bookmarked by alwaysenduphere

Summary
For Bucky Barnes, choosing to run his term out and join the New Avengers was an easy choice to make.
For Melissa Gold, choosing to put de Fontaine behind her and ally herself with the new team was also an easy choice to make.
But the world they both live in now exists in shades of gray. And many other decisions aren't that simple.

Summary
Cazador was dead: to begin with. There was no doubt whatever about that. Astarion had plunged a very beautiful knife a dozen times or more into his gut and left him in tattered shreds upon his ritually carven floor. The compulsion which had haunted the farthest reaches of his memory had vanished like mist with his master’s death.
Mind! It cannot be implied that there is a particular similarity between a vampire lord, who is un-dead, and a dead vampire, despite the mimicking shape of those descriptors. Neither bears real facility of life, true, with a beating heart and a cheek which might yet blush, but the one may wield an un-life never again to be possessed by the other, who will do little more than lie still and rot away into new earth. Cazador was a corpse, mouldering beneath the ground. In all ways he had been flung across that lofty river into the mundanity of real and final death. This must be distinctly understood, or nothing that follows will seem wondrous.

Don’t die.
It’s that easy.
auri knows people, and that's how she can tell; astarion is deeply, deeply fucked up.
