“Mm, but I like it,” says Beidou. There’s a teasing smile on her face, and she leans forward, poking Ningguang’s cheek. Ningguang reddens. She’s drunk on the way that Ningguang regards her. Is this what it’s like to be married? she wonders. “Laopo.”
Or: on Ningguang’s wedding night, Beidou finds her drunk on her apartment doorstep. Like a fool, she proposes to her.
