Arthur ignores the burn in his own side. Ignores the way his arm doesn't quite work in the way it should. He wraps his arms tight about her neck, struggling to drag her up along with him. She whinnys and cries, nostrils flaring as she jerks.
“Come on, girl,” he pleads. “It's jus' a scratch. You'll be alright.”
He just has to get her up. Just has to get her back to camp. That's all. Get her home, and Dutch and Hosea would make her better.
They would.
He knows they would.
