“I know we fought. I know we’re broken up now, and you’re probably going to discard this anyway. But. I can’t help but think. If you were here… you’d know what to do. I…” he swallowed thickly, winced at the sound of a shrieking fierce corpse nearby, slipped his thumb off the sigil, and then numbly watched as the talisman assembled itself into a small bird.The bird hopped off his palm and fluttered away, disappearing into the night. Wei Wuxian tracked it as far as he could see it, before he sighed and let his head thunk back against the rock as a sudden bout of exhaustion hit him.
Or: Wei Wuxian and Nie Mingjue broke up. When Wei Wuxian is all alone in the middle of the night, watching over the Wen Remnants he's rescued, he sends a communication talisman to Mingjue, not expecting anything to come out of it. He is soon proven wrong by Mingjue himself.
