The thing, right, insomuch as there is a thing, is that this is, at its core, a simple business transaction. Tommy Shelby, madman that he is, has a need, and Alfie Solomons, in his wisdom and generosity, has provided a solution. The fact that they both fucking get off on it is frankly immaterial in the economic calculations.
