An attendant opens the door and steps in. “Have you picked out a suitor? It’s time to make a choice.”
It’s silent while Seokjin considers his options. But Jimin’s not confident that Seokjin has met anyone else today. The harpies' eyes wander around, looking down, then over the room’s decor and then over to the attendant. Then the harpy’s eyes meet the merfolk’s.
They maintain eye contact as Seokjin answers, “Jimin is my choice.”
And Jimin wants to reject it, but the whole point of him coming to the temple today was to ally with said merfolk. He remembers the pressure from his household and nods. “Yes, I accept.”
The attendant’s expression remains firm but they offer Jimin a polite, restrained smile. “Great.” They gesture towards the door, “Let’s make the announcement then, shall we?”

Summary
Before Jimin had come of age and presented, he had dreamed of finding someone. Only half of his kind were lucky enough to even have a mate. So many of his den had gone their entire lives without being blessed. The odds were unkind to the foxes. Perhaps it was a cosmic punishment for their gumiho nature.
On his way to another futile matchmaking meeting, gumiho Prince Jimin is waylaid by a strange creature of fire and ash. To protect himself from deadly injuries, his transforms into a fox.
Disgraced Healer Seokjin comes across the poor creature and takes it back to his supposedly haunted hanok to recover. Jimin discovers that perhaps he was looking for his precious mate in all of the wrong places.
A story of misunderstandings regarding dead birds, flower gathering as a surprisingly sexy chore, the word gekkering several times (fox scientists have a command over the English language that I can only envy), and true love as expressed by tailoring.
