Summary
Mai and Ty Lee are trying to adjust to life in the Boiling Rock when they learn they're being transferred to the prison near the Fire Nation capital. Mai's uncle has rivals among his fellow wardens who demand that they be removed from his custody to avoid a conflict of interest. At Warden Poon's prison, Ty Lee finds new, unexpected friends in the Kyoshi Warriors and is comforted by being closer to her family. Meanwhile, Mai meets some of the oddest people she's ever seen: water benders from a swamp in the Earth Kingdom. She even becomes friends with one of them in particular, who challenges her pessimistic view of life.

They stood in silence for a while, enjoying the sound of waves lapping against the side of the ship. Then, with a sigh, Tyro spoke. “I’m leaving again.”
Haru’s gut twisted, and he forced himself not to protest. “At least it’s voluntary this time,” he said, smiling ruefully at the water. Tyro let out a low chuckle.
“At least.”

Summary
Sokka barely tolerates spirit nonsense at the best of times, and he most certainly becomes intolerant when it is he that is the subject of such nonsense.
When Aang heeds Senlin Village's pleas for aid against a particularly stubborn spirit, Sokka, ever the most prime target because he's the most valuable member of the team, is forcefully removed from the physical world and into the Spirit World very much against his will.
And, because he's come to realise spirits are nothing but cruel, he meets someone that he thought he'd never see again.

Max is folded into the party via dungeons and dragons but she develops a reputation for being unafraid to sacrifice her characters to get what she wants. Three times Max tries to kill off her character, and one that finishes the journey.

Aone raises a hand like he’s going to push Futakuchi back into the rain, and Futakuchi backs up a couple of steps on the stairs.
