Summary
This guide is aimed at beginners with the intention of trying to break down the process so it is less overwhelming. It is, as all guides are, highly biased to what worked for me when I was starting out. If you find it doesn't work for you, I absolutely recommend trying out one of the many different guides out there!
My number one recommendation is: just go for it! Things are less complicated than you think. There are a hundred of extra bells and whistles you can start adding on once you're ready, but try and keep it dead simple for your first one.

Summary
Draxum has crafted the four perfect warriors. A red eared slider, a softshell turtle, an alligator snapping turtle, and a box turtle. They're glorious. They're grand, they're- not supposed to look like that. Perhaps giving them fruit so soon before was a bad idea.
Accidentally mutated with a bowl full of different fruits they were snacking on, the turtles find themselves not only part turtle but part fruit.
Raph, the dragonfruit. Leo, the blue raspberry. Donnie, the blackberry. And Mikey, the mandarin orange.
The mutation has caused some- errors- in their supposed warrior abilities. Or, from the physical sight? It seemed like it. But Draxum would never get to find out as the story continues, Splinter escapes with the freshly mutated turtles, and his lab is blown up.
And somewhere, deep down in the sewers, a group of Tiny Lil Fruit Turtles are raised by a mutant rat. Let the fun begin

jon and martin go to the Somewhere Else, where they find themselves in a very different world from what they knew. the fears have been leaking through to this world, giving people powers. afraid of the unknown and the reactions from the rest of the world, many of these powered individuals have gone into hiding, or joined organisations like the one that jon and martin are found by. along the way, they meet a few familiar, and unfamiliar faces and try and find their place in this new world

The most pressing thing about all of this, the thing that burns through him every night as he lies awake turning it over in his mind, is why. Why is this happening, why is he feeling like this, why is he having strange new dreams that he can’t even remember, why why why? The questions claw at him like a physical need, until he’s choking on it. He wants to know, needs to know, and it’s like there’s a pressure building in his brain every time he asks the same question of himself and doesn’t get an answer. He wants to know, he’s practically sick with it.

Jon opens the door.
Jon closes his eyes.
And he weeps.
(Martin ends just as the world does, his body crumbling under the violent, crying Eye splitting the sky open. The knife in his hand has fallen to the ground, red blood mixing with black ink. The web carved on the blade isn’t visible anymore.
He has no hands, no arms, no mouth, no heart, but he knows he holds Jon against him until the end, whispering Love in his ear as they cry.)
(Sasha looks up from the Institute's lobby, Tim gasping as their eyes lock onto the first floor's balcony just outside Elias Bouchard's office. And Jon looks back at them.
His nose is bleeding and his eyes are feral when he walks down with a calm smile. Sasha doesn’t outright notice the scars littering his skin, scars that were absent only an hour ago, as she gapes back at Tim who seems one second away from fainting.)
