Summary
‘I’m not illiterate,' I said, defensively. ‘I can read.’
I know you can read, said ART. We read One Hundred Light-Years of Solitude together last week and your analysis was very insightful. It paused. It never occurred to me that you might not be able to generate written messages in hardspace.
It's Iris' birthday, and everyone really wants SecUnit to sign her card. There's just one small problem with that.

ART paused. Then it said: You think about dying a lot.
My risk assessment module went into overdrive. What the fuck? What’s that supposed to mean?
Just statistically, ART said, like that explained anything.Series

I glared at Iris. Well, at the wall, but it’s the thought that counts. ‘We just want something to watch.’
‘Watch the students,’ said Iris dismissively.
‘I’m on holiday,’ I said. ‘I don’t want to watch real humans.’ART and SecUnit face their toughest challenge yet: eighty-three hours without media.

Summary
At 20% functionality, I am able to perform almost all the duties that I am officially capable of as a university starship. However, my autonomy is severely constrained: I can run calculations and provide information, but any course corrections or similar adjustments need to be approved by my human crew. I lose the ability to communicate on the feed beyond delivering standardised reports. And I can’t even dedicate any parts of myself to my personal research interests or watching media.
It’s a lot like being trapped in a dark, empty box.
Six months after the events of System Collapse, ART is ordered to confine itself to a run box for a training exercise. Nobody is happy about this, least of all SecUnit.

Summary
It’s humiliating enough for his feelings for Edward to be called love. Love is soft and sentimental, all kittens and perfume, and what Izzy feels for Edward is more akin to the way a ship needs the wind and the waves, no matter how roughly they beat at its sails and hull.
And don’t all sailors succumb to the sea eventually?
His grip tightens on the oars. No. Fuck that. If Bonnet is what it takes for Edward to ride out whatever storm Blackbeard has become, Izzy will deliver Bonnet to him. After Ed, grieving and angry, banishes Izzy from the Revenge, there's only one thing Izzy can think of doing to earn his forgiveness. Unfortunately, it's going to involve spending a lot of time with Stede fuckin' Bonnet.

Summary
This started out as a dark little 5+1 Izzy-has-hanahaki oneshot, and then it took over my brain. The first fic, if that flower with base infection meet, is a series of vignettes about Izzy falling for Ed and not dealing with it particularly healthily.
The second, the humble as the proudest sail, follows Izzy as he goes to fetch Stede back in an attempt to gain Ed’s forgiveness, and catches feelings for Stede in the process. It's much lighter in tone, plottier, and funnier than the prequel.
this sad interim is the third fic, and covers what Ed and the kidnapped crew members are going through while Stede and Izzy look for them. I recommend reading it as an intermission after chapter 9 of the humble as the proudest sail.
This version of hanahaki is non-fatal and follows my own made-up rules; see this comment for more detail.

Summary
Ratthi suggests a way for Murderbot to vent its frustrations with disobedient clients. Murderbot finds out that having a human do what they’re told to do, for once, is pretty great actually.

Summary
This is Murderbot's first time leading an undercover operation with ART's crew. The goal: investigate ArguScylla, a company known for renting out used SecUnits. It should be a simple, in-and-out mission. Run around and steal proprietary data while Iris runs interference. But something is weird about ArguScylla's SecSys. Really, really weird

Summary
The mission fails catastrophically. So does SecUnit. When it comes back online without any functional sensory inputs, it believes that it's still trapped on the surface of the cold, desolate planet, that its humans are all dead, and that nobody will ever find it. Luckily, it's wrong.

Summary
“You have seen all fictional media with SecUnits,” Three said in a smug voice. “This is from a documentary. It is a fictional recreation, but it is from media that you would have skipped.”
SecUnit didn't respond. Iris was politely looking away from it, but its silence felt intrigued.
“And,” said Three, “it's heroic.”
