Summary
No—he’s seen what it did to his best friend, Thomas Greenie. How Thomas had shut down and hasn’t spoken to either him nor Minho since being reaped himself two years ago and returning as the crowned victor. How Thomas is now nothing but a WICKED mutt, working on the same arenas he himself had fought to death in. He can’t let Lizzy go through that. He can’t let her go through all that alone. He can’t let her die.
And so Newt makes his decision. Teresa hadn’t even begun to pick out the district male’s name before:
“I volunteer as tribute!”
Or, when Newt’s 12 year old sister's name is drawn at the Reaping, Newt volunteers as the male tribute so that he can protect her through the Games and ensure she gets home, no matter what the cost. Even if it means reconnecting with his former best friend who's now his mentor and may or may not have a small crush on him that Newt is completely oblivious to. -

Sasuke’s eyes widened as he stared at the ugly face in front of him. His insides churned, rage piling up once again.
“What?”
“You heard me,” the man snapped, sounding impatient. “You being here is revenge against Uchiha Itachi.”
It was fear, Sasuke suddenly realised. It wasn’t anger that was eating away at him this time, but instead it was absolute terror.
Or Sasuke gets kidnapped by people his brother pissed off and consequently ends up on the receiving side of their revenge plan. It all goes to hell after he’s finally saved and returns to the village and finds that not only is Itachi there and not pleased, but there's a bandaged madman going around with a vendetta against his clan of 2 and a hobby of ripping out eyeballs.

He didn’t get to reform the world but still found that he didn’t care. Nobody would wake up, anyway. They’d all die without the last remaining rinnegan user to free them. A good enough punishment for what they did to the Uchiha.
And with that feeling of comfort, Sasuke collapsed next to Naruto’s dead body and the world turned black, a petrified scream being the last thing to ring in his ears.
… If only the world was that kind to him.
In which Naruto and Sasuke still break the cycle, but in a different way. One that Indra and Ashura aren’t too happy with, hence their decision to thrust Sasuke back in time with the intention he change fate. Problem? They should’ve picked Naruto. -
