"Your labs are poor," Armand says. "Doctor Fareed recommends revising your schedule. I'm vetting additional candidates from the farm." It rankles that Armand has handled this without asking him. Their system is a compromise lain over a compromise: outside medical supervision of Louis' diet so Armand doesn't worry about him and therefore does not resent him the way Lestat had. It has been working for near a decade. It was too much to hope for that it would continue.
