“Excuse us!” The crowd parted, and Ziyal’s hoverchair came gliding across the corridor. Next to her, Kira was smiling so big her eyes nearly disappeared. Jake thought Ziyal was smiling, too, but honestly he was too busy swooping down to hug her to really notice. He’d appreciate the smile and her meticulously lovely hairdo later.
“Hey,” he said, throat so tight that he struggled to say even that much. Her arms squeezed strong around him, and he’d never been so grateful to be knocked breathless. “Missed you.”
