“Don’t be such a spoilsport, Heeseung.” Jay tells him, even though his voice holds no heat to it. He stalks over to his closet and pulls out some perfect, coordinated outfit that smells of money. Before he slides into the bathroom to change, he calls, “It won’t be just me! Jake will be there, too!”
Then he slips into the bathroom, completely oblivious to how Heeseung’s heart is beating quietly, pitter-pattering in his chest. It’s a light, sweet, quick sound that reminds him of the flapping of a butterfly’s wings. Or the gleam, brightly white, of someone’s smile, so happy that it hurts to look at.
“Fine, Jay. I guess that I’ll come.” He shrugs. “I could use a break, after all.”

Summary

It is the stars he watches from his room at night and the wind in his hair and the feeling of the sun baking salt onto his skin when he emerges from the ocean. It is Heeseung’s hand in his and the smooth glide of Heeseung’s scales on his bare legs and the rapid beating of Heeseung’s heart against his chest when they are close together.
Or: Heeseung gives up his voice to walk on land to reunite with Prince Jaeyun. But will Jake remember the boy that he splashed around (and fell in love) with as a child?
