“Is my training so unimportant?” Wei Wuxian wheedles. “Such a minor task in your day that you feel no obligation to see it through?” A mean smile tugs at the corner of his mouth, caught by a fisherman’s hook. “Lan Wangji, if I don’t continue to train, if you don’t take this seriously, then my fledgling core will falter, and it will no longer be a matter of cultivating to immortality, but rather if I can make it the next ten years.”
Lan Wangji’s face goes tight with rage. He shoves Wei Wuxian upright and away from him. Wei Wuxian lands in ankle-deep, freezing water with a splash. Beneath the surface, his feet are ghostly white. Lan Wangji’s eyes spark with fury, quicker and hotter than Wei Wuxian’s best fire talisman. “I take this seriously,” Lan Wangji snaps. “Do you?”

I’m sure whatever I did I was just—” He gestures uselessly. He remembers being warm in Lan Zhan’s lap. He remembers fitting snugly in Lan Zhan’s lap. Wrapping his arms around Lan Zhan’s neck. Nosing at his jaw. “…playing around.”
“This has nothing to do with you, Wei Wuxian.”
