After one of Artemis's schemes once again puts him - and his friends and family - in danger, Artemis Senior and his wife decide enough is enough. They will not continue to enable their son's bad decisions, and ask for some external help in teaching Artemis how to grow up and take responsibility for himself.
But Artemis has made quite a few enemies up til now, and they have their own goals involving Artemis.
Without his usual resources, Artemis is stuck relying on the last people he wants to work with to keep him alive.

Butler gets kidnapped by an old enemy, who tortures him for revenge and answers. When he doesn't get them, he cuts his losses and auctions Butler off as live cargo to another old enemy, Jon Spiro, also out for revenge. Butler is left trying to figure out what to do with himself now that he's injured past working, far from home, and held captive by a man who hates him. But when Butler's original enemy, and some of Jon's team up, the two will have to work together to get out alive. -
