Summary
“Which one of you is Dr. Bashir?”
Still leaning casually by the console, Bashir tilts his head with a smirk. “Skinny brunette in the corner.”
Girani rolls her eyes but walks towards him when the strange man shakes his head. “No, you’re Dr. Girani.”
“You don’t think I’m skinny?” Bashir asks with a warm, amused smile, turning more fully toward the patient. “I am terribly sorry; I’m just about to take lunch. But if you are willing to wai–”
Faster than even Garak can predict, the man pulls out a weapon Garak has never seen before, aims it directly at Bashir, and shoots him point blank.

“What’s all that about?” Julian asks.
Garak glances at him. “That was supposed to be taken care of yesterday, well ahead of your scheduled arrival, so that we could make the dinner reservations I made.”

“I have an idea,” Jadzia says, sliding into the conversation with a dangerous smile. Ben looks at her with a warning gaze; he remembers enough of Curzon’s “ideas” to be skeptical of anything she says with a smile like that.
Quark does not have the same concerns. “Well?”
“A good old-fashioned cook-off!
Or: Quark and Sisko have a cook-off. It goes about as well as can be expected.

Summary
"Good evening, my dear. I trust I haven't kept you waiting?"
Julian huffed out a laugh. "You know exactly what you've done, you menace."
Garak clicked his tongue. "Is that any way to speak to your husband?"
"Seems appropriate. You've been driving me to distraction for days."
"I'm sure I don't know to what you are referring," Garak said, a warning in his eyes. It was hard to gauge sometimes when it was just part of the game, but Julian couldn't imagine this would be the part he was unwilling to discuss on record. After all, there was plenty of textual evidence.
"I've done everything you asked," Julian said, fluttering his lashes. "I think I deserve some quid pro quo, Minister."

"You really shouldn't have come," Julian grumbled.
"Yes, yes. So you've said." Garak couldn't quite keep the peevish edge out of his tone, in spite of everything. "And yet here I am."
There was a long silence mostly punctuated by Julian's still-labored breathing.
"I'm sorry," Julian muttered finally. His arm was slung over his eyes, covering the dark circles and the gray pallor of his face. He didn't quite look Cardassian, but entirely too much so for Garak's taste at the moment. "I just…the negotiations."
"They are proceeding perfectly well without me, as I knew they would," said Garak. "The hospital is overtaxed and it's safer for you to be here, under my care. We've discussed this many times. I'm immune to the St'entik fever -"
"So are the rest of the Cardassian hospital staff!"

Garak had always felt that, in more cases than not, there was a greater pleasure in the wanting of the thing than in actually having it. Julian Bashir was certainly testing the limits of this belief.
