Summary
"It's going to be a bad night," Neil explains, tone apologetic. He hasn't had one in a while, and they don't sleep apart even when they know it's going to be a bad night for either of them, but Neil can tell this is going to be one of his worst. "I can stay out here tonight."
Andrew's eyes flicker down to his ankle and he frowns.
"How many times am I explaining this to you? You aren't sleeping out here," Andrew says flatly. Neil doesn't think he's going to be able to sleep, knowing the nightmare this whole scenario is going to bring forth. He doesn't say it, already thinking of something else he can use to try and persuade Andrew, but Andrew shifts on his feet and then crouches, leaning into Neil's space. "Neil. You are going to sleep in the bedroom."
Three nightmares, three different nights.

There were only so many sleepless nights in the library an athlete on one of the best college teams could afford to spend, only so many questions he could brush past. Even though he could hardly look Aasha in the eye when he broke the news, even though he would never forget the disappointment in Coach Rhenneman’s face when he handed in his contract, there were no two ways about it. He had to leave.

Summary
"You never told us you went to Evergreen," Dan says, hands on her hips like she's someone's backyard barbeque dad.
Went to Evergreen. It's such a funny way of putting the hours of frightened travel, of handcuffs and screaming men and a dark bag over his head until civilization was a distant dream and there was nobody around to hear him cry and beg for help.
Nicky went to Evergreen the way Neil went to Evermore- shackled and owned.

Nicky is already having a massively bad day when he lets slip to one of the rookies which camp his parents sent him to. Unfortunately for him, that rookie recognizes the name and Nicky is forced to deal with the reality of what happened to him instead of deflecting it away.

Summary
The Neil-Andrew-Kevin friendship was only solidified by Neil moving in with them and Nicky and Aaron moving out, so much so that sometimes Matt feels like the three of them are part of some exclusive club no one else is a member of. It’s better than when it was Monsters versus the upperclassmen because they still hang around everyone else, but it’s like they exist on a different wavelength than the rest of the team.
