"Gale leans forward, fiddling with the note and holding Bucky’s gaze for a moment. If this is to be the last time he ever sees him, and god willing it fucking won’t be, he wants to remember Bucky’s face, framed by the gentle grey-blue haze of the early morning. God, he is so in love with that face. Has been since first day of basic training, when Bucky nicknamed him “Buck”."

Summary
Bucky allowed himself to feel the briefest pang of unbridled and aching want for the blindingly handsome creature in front of him before smothering it out. This omega would never fit into the mold of Bucky’s life.
Bucky wanted a pretty wife that stayed at home with the kids, preened from his lap at important events, or simpered from an embroidered kneeling pillow whenever Bucky pleased. The type of omega Bucky wanted, the type he’d grown up surrounded by, would latch on to their ability to dodge the draft, would never dream of enlisting.
This angel in a USAAF basic training uniform with a set jaw and his chin tipped back defiantly would never be any of that.
