Edward Teach is out for a midnight stroll when he stops in front of St. James Palace to light a cigarette. There's an oddly compelling guard standing sentry. Ed gets to talking to him, and it becomes a habit.
His lungs burn a little, and he blows the smoke out with a porny sort of moan and of course that’s when he notices that there’s a guard in the box, and that he’s blown smoke right into his face.
“Oh, fuck, sorry, mate,” he says, waving it away. Of course the guard doesn’t say anything. Doesn’t even flinch, just stares straight ahead, like Ed’s not there, waving his hands in the air like a madman. Only not quite like Ed’s not there. There’s an unmistakable twinkle in his eye. Huh.

It’s not unpleasant, just overpowering now that he’s close, and it makes something in Viago’s gut shift to be drinking so deeply and thinking of Anton at the same time. Life is full of intimacies, an immortal life exponentially so, but there are still some he does not like to get crossed. Two of them are friend and food.
He wonders what it would be like to eat Anton up.

Summary
How he does it, Ed has no idea. How he sits in his blouse and breeches and his fucking stockings, back straight and voice steady. How he explains that he wants to edge Ed into oblivion with the same cadence he’d use to read a fucking shopping list.
Ed can barely breathe with how much he wants it, and somehow Stede looks completely unaffected by the sentence that just came out of his own mouth, the slight bounce of his right leg his only tell.
