Pope wrenches it into his view and reads the screen. His heart leaps at the sight, relieved to see JJ’s name shining at him through the darkness of the porch. Then, Pope gets the feeling that he has suddenly dropped three stories. JJ called him twice in a row. This wasn’t a random bout of anxiety, but a primal instinct telling him something was wrong.
