It happens with Padre, with the faces in the Palazzo, with ones in the brothel too, though not as often. But now, after a lifetime without him, Armand finds himself thinking of a flame that flickers yet never dims enough for him to be left in the dark. Strands of gold between his fingers and a playful smirk framing fangs of iron clashing against his in a way he hasn't been able to feel for so long.
