The stranger must’ve known he was found, too, because two dark blue eyes open, peering back at him from the shadows. It shifts, and a gust of icy wind blows past them, covering the body in a light dusting of frost.
Mine, the eyes claim.
So this was the heartbeat Bam had been tracking. But he’s not in the mood to get into a fight with another one of his kind, even if some of them were territorial. Just to check, he lightly pokes the stiff body with a smoky tendril.
There’s a threatening hiss. The temperature drops further.
Bam shuffles back slowly and melts back into the shadows. He can feel those piercing blue eyes on him, watching until he’s out of sight.
I’ll have to hunt for a different meal.
And in the morning, when the townspeople find two mangled bodies on opposite sides of the town, there are no culprits to blame.

To start, he was looking at Khun quite a bit. It wasn’t abnormal, per se, for Bam to look at him, it just went that Khun tended to look over at Bam more than Bam looked over at Khun. But now their ratios were absolutely off.

Summary
Viole makes his skin crawl, a kind of fear he’s never felt before in his life. That presence, that energy… it’s nauseating. It’s how a monster feels, except holy: all eyes, wings, and teeth hidden behind those eyes. A fallen angel born to kill, whose reputation boasts feats beyond anything Khun could ever be capable of.
“You’ve got a lot of nerve,” Khun scoffs, a bit disgusted. Viole twists his grip in Khun’s hair, forcing him to wince as the wound on his temple reopens. Blood dribbles down the side of his face once more while Viole draws closer, only inches away from his lips. Khun gives a dry swallow but he can’t pull back at all.
“Or a lot of spine,” Viole replies, with a quiet edge to his voice.
FUG is known for killing members of the Ten Great Families, on sight and without hesitation. But Khun is one of the first exceptions to this rule when he is taken hostage by slayer nominee Jyu Viole Grace.

With new allies yet also new troubles, Bam in particular is pushing himself to grow in might and skill as he prepares for the inevitable confrontation between him and Jahad, as he tries to remain strong in his chosen path of protecting and saving those who needed saving, drawing comfort and strength from the presence of his friends as much as he could.
However, Bam and his friends quickly discover that conflict is much more inevitable than what they would expect, as the Jahad Empire and FUG continue to wage war with one another from the shadows, culminating in Bam finding himself in the crossfire of the battle that would mark the beginning of the war.
