Summary
Ever since he can remember, Asgore has had a purpose. As King of the monsters, it has always been his job to ensure his people have hope for the future—before and during their banishment.
But now, their exile is over. The monsters are free. They must now adapt to life on the surface world and find a new purpose. Toriel is fighting to become Frisk’s mother in the eyes of the law. Papyrus is discovering a new love. Undyne is doubling her efforts to protect those she loves. Alphys is finding a place among the scientists. Mettaton is asserting himself in the television industry.
And all Asgore can do is fall behind.
What use is he if there is no longer a need for hope? All that’s left are the sins he’s committed and the mistakes he’s made. He doesn’t deserve happiness. He doesn’t deserve forgiveness. He only deserves to take full responsibility for what he’s done.
Maybe it’s about time he did that.
