Summary
To say Till was a fan of Ivan’s was putting it lightly. He had been a fan of Black Sorrow’s since their inception several years ago. He was a high school junior when he first discovered them. He was perusing YouTube and stumbled across a cover they did of a famous song and was instantly in love, the rest was, as they say, history. He fell in love instantly with the deep, melodic voice seeping from his speakers, pouring out all of his emotion into each syllable. It was intoxicating. To say he was a fan of Black Sorrow’s was kind of an overstatement, he was more so a fan of Ivan’s specifically, the band’s frontman. He was the subject of many of Till’s wet dreams since he discovered them.
Till followed them and Ivan specifically all throughout high school and into college, religiously, never missing an update or a single release, but he had never had the chance to see them live until now.

Summary
Ivan never meant to start internet drama. He simply posted a well-researched video essay titled “Why Screaming Isn’t a Personality,” lightly critiqued a trend in gaming content, and included exactly one (very recognizable) clip of a certain Roblox YouTuber.
Then he took a nap.
Now the video has gone viral, the internet is divided, and the guy in the thumbnail—loud, chaotic, beloved by millions—has just subscribed to Ivan’s channel.
What no one knows is that Ivan quite literally used to be his first fan. Back when the videos were about music, awkward thoughts, and late-night honesty. Back when Till wasn’t screaming over horror maps and meme edits every five seconds.

Ivan is a video essay YouTuber, and Till just so happens to be the one his most recent (and viral) video is about.

“If you’d have called me asking for help,” Till says, slowly, carefully, “I wouldn’t have picked up.”
He sees, and is somewhat startled by, the impact of his words. Ivan sways on his feet almost imperceptibly, and in his eyes there is the smallest sliver of passion. Of hatred. Then Till watches Ivan piece himself back together, indifferent and efficient as always.
“That’s the difference between you and me,” Ivan says with vindictive superiority. “I never would have called.”
