“You know, seeing so many women fawn over you day and night makes me want to rip their throats out.” She muses over the rim of her glass, eyeing him. His face drops and he shifts closer to her.
“I’m sorry, Riza, I can stop asking you to escort me everywhere.”
“Are you insane? I love it. Try as they might, they will never get their hands on you for more than a few hours.” She leans closer to him, voice ghosting the shell of his ear. “I, on the other hand? Get to have you all night long, anytime I want.”
She pulls back and he’s looking at her with the biggest, stupidest, happiest smile she has ever seen him don. His lips are curved upwards, lopsided as ever, the corners of his eyes crinkle and there’s a sparkle in his gaze, soft and tender.
He grabs two new glasses of champagne from a passing waiter and leans into her.
“And yet… you still haven’t marked your territory?”
