Summary
It’s almost funny how he thought a hiking trip could fix everything in him that had broken so exquisitely.
---
Anakin has just lost his mother and his place at university for the time being. Forced into a semester off to save his tanking grades, he decided to make meaning out of his life in the only way imaginable: escape into the mountains on the other side of the country and hike the Appalachian Trail.
Obi-Wan fights his own grief by going on a planned through-hike of the Appalachian Trail which was supposed to be a last hurrah with his dying father. After an accident takes him earlier than expected, Obi-Wan hits the trail alone, and he has no plans to change that. He doesn’t expect to attract the lost boy who comes as unprepared for a through hike as possible; after begrudgingly taking in an inexperienced Anakin, the hike feels like something completely new.
After a fight with 40 miles left to hike, everything comes to a head when Anakin doesn’t show up to the shelter they agreed to meet at. Obi-Wan must admit how much he cares about this boy as he takes to the trail alone to find him before anything worse than getting lost and possibly injured can happen.

Summary
The force glimmers here, more vibrant than anywhere else on the field. He is certain this was the Republic, one of their operatives acting to sabotage his efforts. Beneath the rage he feels bubbling in his chest, there is fear, and there is admiration.
It is not often he is bested. He is his Master’s right hand for a reason. He does not fail, he is not thwarted.
And yet. And yet.
He finds it admirable that someone has beat him here, has taken his game and twisted it up in front of him. He feels the challenge in his veins.

It’s not like they don’t kiss. He’s had his mouth all over Izzy; he’s had his lips bitten raw pushed against the nearest surface, kissed him deep and dirty because he can, but this is different. Domestic.
God fucking damn it, he’s fucked.

Summary
Shopping for Lucius is infuriating. Izzy thinks about getting him a gift card. Thinks about asking Pete what Lucius might really like but that seems like both a copout and like it may just be inviting trouble and way more information about Lucius than Izzy will ever need.
There are no good options for what you’re supposed to get the biggest-annoyance-slash-most-unwitting-friend for fucking Secret Santa. They don’t make guides for this. There’s no Buzzfeed article listing 101 gifts to get the worst person you know. Izzy would kill for one of those right now. Then, maybe, just maybe, he wouldn’t still be shopping.

Summary
Fully apart, Ed examines the ring one more time, stares at it like it might tell him the secrets of the universe if he looks at it long enough. Wordlessly, he comes to a conclusion that he doesn’t share with Izzy. He slips the ring into a pocket of Izzy’s vest and pats it once, “Keep that safe, yeah? We’ll keep it in the running.”
Someone calls for Ed again, he sighs, straightens himself out, runs one hand through his hair while he gives Izzy a once over. Izzy looks thunderstruck, his jaw slack and his eyes wide. Ed laughs and squeezes Izzy’s shoulder as he walks away, “Duty calls.”

Summary
Bill Tartt is smaller in person than he’d looked in the picture, smaller than he is in Jamie’s memory. He’s skinny and old, like James, but the uncanny likeness between all three of them is there, even stiffened in death. The stubborn set of the jaws, the forceful cleft chins, the slope of the brows. Bill and James and Jamie all lying dead in a casket and all staring down at a corpse, a shifting, blurring Tartt shadow that pervades the atmosphere, choking everything in its wake.
—
A funeral reunites Jamie with the Tartt side of the family. As memories resurface, Jamie is forced to reckon with his father’s legacy and its place in the family he’s created for himself.Bookmarked by quietlybookish

Summary
Adriana doesn’t tell their parents that she’s going to LA. She doesn’t tell Eddie, either—or ask, for that matter.
She does ask Chris, and he thinks it’s a good idea—says as much, on the phone, and doesn’t say much else.
“Buck will probably be hovering,” is what Chris does volunteer.
It still surprises her when the man who opens the door is not Eddie. It’s—Captain America, is the thing that actually comes to mind—a man close to a foot taller than she is, if not more than that, with blond curls and broad shoulders, and he’s got a question in his very blue eyes that’s probably less friendly than the one he actually asks her.
“Uh,” he says. “Can I help you?”

Or: Adriana arrives in LA. Maddie has been here the whole time.
