“Well we talked some that night and he called me last week, offered me a job that's gonna have a vacancy soon they need filling ASAP.” Brad’s thumb dug in a little harder as the words came out. Ray opened his eyes, lulling his head to watch Brad’s shoulders hunch, his forearm tense, a vein sticking out more than usual.
“Oh.” Ray blinked, letting the room settle into the news. Him, the dog asleep by the dishwasher, and Brad’s decision to consider something outside of Pendleton, outside of Oceanside. He had been out of Recon for almost two years, mostly serving as a paper pusher and new recruits trainer.
“It's in Georgia.”

Summary
He started seeing the town’s Shaman family to help out at the temple last summer but it was just the one older woman and her sick middle aged daughter. Getou felt sadness all over that temple everyday he went but there was a sense of peace that radiated deep in the hurt.
“You know, I had a friend in college you remind me of.” The daughter says one day. She starts these random stories from time to time, somber and memorizing.
“Really?” Getou inquires, happy to indulge her reminiscing mood.
