He could have just wiped Vash's memories, but he didn't want a blank person with his brother's face.
He wanted his brother as he should have been.

Or: Knives successfully alters Vash's memories so that he trusts Nai above everyone and everything else. It's a perfect happy ending. (Except for Meryl. And Wolfwood. And, well, the rest of the human race.)

“Well,” Wolfwood slurred decisively, pointing his finger into Vash’s chest. He missed, narrowly avoiding Vash’s arm. “If your brother doesn’t want to kiss you, and my brother doesn’t want to kiss me, then we should just kiss each other!” He said with the confidence that only inebriation could bring.
“Oh my god,” Vash said, eyes wide, looking at Wolfwood like he’d just rediscovered fire. He lurched forward a little too excitedly, nearly face-planting in the other man’s lap. “You’re right!”
“Oh my god,” Meryl said, with the look of absolute horror one usually wore when just a few moments from complete disaster.
OR
Meryl and company show up to the Saverem twin's birthday party, and drunken hilarity ensues.
