Summary
Just as the group date winds down, Buck’s doorbell rings.
Buck lets out a muffled, “Mm!” around the cookie in his mouth. He dusts his hands off and swallows. “I forgot. Ravi’s swinging by to grab something.”
He gets up from his chair and walks to the front door. It’s a little spooky sometimes. When Buck is focused on something, he moves across a room the same way that Bobby did.
The door opens to reveal Ravi. He’s dressed more casually than May has ever seen him: athletic shorts and a faded Southern California St. Jude Walk t-shirt. May tries to keep her eyes on the tv, but there’s something soft about Ravi in the low light of Buck’s living room. She can’t look away.
Or:
May and Harry go to Buck's to watch The Bachelor. Ravi shows up. -

Summary
It’s something that Tommy has thought about for a while. Those last few moments before Evan comes, when he’s fucking into Tommy quick and greedy, too close to be anything approaching inhibited—when he’s losing himself in the friction, in the pleasure he can wring for himself from Tommy’s body.
Not that Evan thinks about it that way, Tommy is sure. Evan likes giving pleasure as much as he likes receiving it.
That’s kind of the thing, though. What if Evan wasn’t concerned about Tommy’s pleasure? What if he fucked Tommy selfishly, just for himself? What if he used Tommy’s body to get himself off—just that, and nothing else? What would he be like? How would he fuck Tommy if he was just doing it for himself?

Summary
“Wait!” Maddie calls after only a few steps, voice urgent. “I never... I never got the chance to thank you.”
Tommy’s eyebrows pull together. “You just did. Twice.”
Maddie waves that away. “Oh, no not- not for the cereal. For, uh, for what you did that night. For saving Chimney.”
“Oh.” Tommy shrugs, flashes an embarrassed smile. Needs to run. “It was no problem. Just doing my job.”
When Maddie tilts her head, she looks just like her brother.
Or:
Tommy runs into Maddie at a grocery store.Series

Summary
Buck moves in on a Saturday. It’s a small house, but that’s okay. With each successive move Buck had gotten rid of more and more belongings. He doesn’t have much left at this point.
Eddie helps him move boxes and furniture from storage to his truck and from his truck into his new house. With a lunch break, the entire process only takes three hours. It’s all a bit anticlimactic. Eddie offers to help him unpack, since they have so much time, but the idea settles too heavy in Buck’s stomach. Moving boxes is one thing. Moving in is something else entirely.
This is the first place that Buck has ever lived in that he picked out for himself. He’s feeling a little precious about that. He doesn’t want someone else to decide which drawer his utensils should be in. He’s had enough of other people telling him where to put things.
Or:
Buck buys a fixer-upper, grieves Bobby, and works through his loneliness. Tommy helps. -

Summary
Tommy had seemed happy with the way their dynamic was progressing, and it’s not like he’d never bottomed again during their relationship. He’d done it all the time: bent over the kitchen island, up against the shower wall, on his hands and knees on the bed or the couch or the floor. Buck had fucked Tommy like that and never thought about it beyond yes good Tommy yes. Tommy had moaned and pushed back against him, and that same magic that always brewed between them popped and fizzed and bubbled over.
So Buck hadn’t thought about it. From the beginning, he had been struck with the near inability to think much around Tommy at all. Their relationship had been such a fuckdrunk blur of easy pleasure and simple joy that Buck hadn’t been able to see that Tommy had been avoiding receiving the intimacy that he gave to Buck.
That changes after they get back together.

Summary
This is a story about two men meeting on a beach in 1985, at a hotel in 2002, in a firehouse in 2021, and in the hospital in 2023 and 2024. Here's how it starts:
The man smiles, and it's like a hit to the gut. He's beautiful. “I think jumping into the ocean might be a bit harder than getting a cat from a tree.”
“You've never seen the trees in Minnesota,” Bobby jokes, tapping the book lightly against his thigh. “You from around here?”
“Pennsylvania. I'm just on vacation, needed a weekend away. I haven't surfed in a while, and I was missing it,” he says, glancing down at the surfboard with something like longing. “It's a hell of a thing, you know.”
“Looks like it,” Bobby agrees, hooking the handle of the mug on one of the fingers on his other hand. “I'm Bobby.”
“Phillip,” he says, shaking Bobby's hand.

Summary
A tenth of what keeps California running hails from the hearth of this modern relic. It’s legitimately riveting. The scale of it is nearly unfathomable.
How is it possible that Tommy's the same age as this monolith of the nuclear age? It jars him, it humbles him. Both of them have spent forty years going and going, not stopping for breath.
—
Tommy and Evan find each other again. All it takes is a power plant, a corrupt fire chief, and a couple of exes.

Summary
"Look who's talking. Come on, it's just me," Buck says, like that's an argument or something, and it must work, because when he leans across to push play, Eddie doesn't stop him.
Or: Buck walks in on Eddie watching porn. It escalates from there.

Summary
“You a cop?” he asks, and the guy shakes his head.
Tommy's met his fair share of bunker bunnies, but they tend to be smaller and less his type. Mostly because they're almost always women, in his experience.
“Just a fan, then?” he teases, and the flush deepens. He wants to see how far down it goes, what it looks like under one of his hands.
“Guess you could say that.” He scratches the back of his neck before holding out his hand. “I'm Evan.”
“Tommy,” he replies, shaking his hand.
