Doctors come in and out. There isn't much more they can do. She's yelled and screamed and cursed about it. Didn't change anything. They did what they could. All she can do is wait. Fucking useless.
He's lost so much blood. She wanted to give him some, but they're not the same blood type. Of course they're not. Maybe they would be if she were his daughter, but she's not. She's not.
He's lost so much blood. So much blood running through her fingers. Ellie wipes her hands on her jeans. It doesn't help.
He's stilI. Too still. But his chest lifts and falls, and that has to be enough.

Nick unlocks the back gate and readies his machete. He approaches the figure very carefully.
The figure raises its arm towards Nick, and instinctively, he raises his machete and prepares to strike.
“Help me,” the figure croaks.
Nick stops dead in his tracks, machete still above his head.
“Oh, my god,” he says. He lowers the machete and approaches the stranger carefully. “Who are you?”
“My name… my name’s Ch-Charlie,” the man rasps through a strained voice. “Please help me!”Or, Nick and Charlie fall in love during the zombie apocalypse.
*UPDATE 3rd Sept. 2025: This work has NOT been abandoned. I'm dealing with a health condition which has made writing very difficult for me. But rest assured, I'll be back when I'm fit and able. In the meantime, please enjoy what is posted so far, and I'll be back to it as soon as I can! Xx
