Agni had expected this to be a normal day.
That is until something grabs hold of his leg and he is greeted by the sight of sharp red eyes staring straight at him, belonging to a man that is so deep in the water that the only visible parts of him are from the chest up and the arm that is outstretched to hold onto his leg tightly. A small sound leaves his mouth and he cannot tell if it is a yelp or a gasp. Whatever it is that leaves his lips, it stutters deep in his chest as he stares back into those deep pools of red and for a moment Agni likens them to deep pools of blood.
He recognizes this creature, he realizes. He had read up on them during his times as a pirate, in the case that he had stumbled upon them. He hadn’t. Not till now at least. A mermaid. Or perhaps a siren.

That’s what Sebastian is.
He’s made of shadows that can rip humans apart in all but a single second, of sin that leaves religious humans floundering, of the filthiest and worst parts of humanity, of terrors beyond humans mere comprehension, of the ever persistent primal urge to devour his prey. He’s made of sharp claws and needle-like teeth, of slitted pupils and sharp heels.
Agni is everything light.
Agni shines with the rays of the sun at dawn, drawing those lurking in the shadows they’re stuck in into his warmth. It seems that even Sebastian can’t help but be sucked in by the bright light, to be fascinated with how a man so gentle and holy can exist.
By all means, they should not be able to coexist so well.
And yet, time and time again, it’s proven that they can.
