Summary
Earth is dead. The Atlantis Space Station is dying. It’s the year 2443 and Majors Bucky Egan and Gale Cleven, pilots of the USS Odyssey, are tasked with transporting 5,000 civilians to safety before setting off on humanity’s last hope mission to find a new home.
They share a cockpit, a mission and a rank — but that’s where the similarities end. Bucky thinks that Gale’s a stiff golden boy. Gale thinks Bucky’s a reckless pain in the ass. Sparks fly and it’s not from a supernova explosion. The two pilots must find a way to work together to save mankind and ultimately, each other.

He returns to Thorpe Abbotts a shell of himself, and the perfect Gale Cleven begins to unravel. He stops eating, he can’t sleep, he starts drinking, smoking and gambling. He is in free fall with no Bucky there to catch him. Gale is trapped inside his worst nightmare – the very real possibility that Bucky could be dead while he’s alive and becoming just like his father.

Mac's seen the local roads and they’re too rough to make a fast getaway by land. “You get to the plane and get the engine started. I’ll distract them with these, and follow.”Jack looks unhappy with the plan, but there’s really nothing else to do except run back to the unkempt wilderness zone at the edge of the property and hope they can disappear into the trees. And that plan still sounds worse. “Fine,” Jack agrees. “But you better be quick about following me. I’m not flying out of here by myself.”
Mac gives him a pat on the shoulder as he picks up his three half-constructed smoke grenades, balancing them on one arm so he can pick up the jug containing the final component in his other hand. “I’ll be right behind you. As long as you can fly that plane, we’ll be fine.”

The first time Gale saw Elizabeth, he had no doubt that she was John's.
She had the same dark brown hair, just a shade closer to chestnut. She had the same big ears that stuck out slightly, the kind John used to joke would help him fly better. And the same prominent nose, though hers curves slightly upward at the end like a delicate button. The same stubborn set to her jaw, even at six years old.
He'd thought he was ready for this, but having seen John's features replicated in miniature two years ago didn't prepare Gale for its fuller version, now standing in front of him.
