Summary
Astarion works summers at The Gate amusement park. He spends his days operating Bat Out Of Hell, the most popular ride at the park. It isn’t the ideal job, but he endures, wanting to one day provide not only for himself, but his siblings who are still under the care of their controlling and manipulative father.
Much to his chagrin, he’s been forced to take the new employee, Gale Dekarios, under his wing.
Meanwhile, Gale is only hoping to survive one season without Astarion ripping his head off. He needs this opportunity or everything he’s worked for may go up in smoke.

Viktor is dying.
This is nothing new. He’s been dying since he was born, since he took his first acrid lungful of Fissure air, and he accepted his premature expiration long ago. Everyone has to die anyways, right? All the Fissure had done was move up the finish line.
That doesn’t make it any easier.
