Summary
A quick squeeze of their intertwined hands, a gentle brush of his thumb against Shun’s cheek. Really anything was enough to make Shun fall apart. Turn him into a stupid, blushing mess. He wouldn’t stand a chance if Dark Reunion found out about this particular weakness of his.
What was even worse was that Aren didn’t even want anything most of the time. He was just doing it to see Shun turn bright red and sputter like a fool whenever he called him cute or asked to hold his hand.
Sometimes, however, Aren did have a specific goal in mind when he flashed Shun his stupidly gorgeous eyes and obnoxiously handsome grin. Today, it seemed like that goal was getting out of studying.

“So? What do you think?” Shun asked, shifting from one foot to the other, his eyes still sparkling with child-like excitement.
Aren just couldn’t find it in his heart to say no. Couldn’t bring himself to deny Shun even a shred of happiness.
He briefly contemplated how immediately caving whenever Shun had just the faintest hint of passion in his eyes might be an issue. Upon further reflection, he decided he didn’t really care. Who could say no to Shun, anyway? Sure, Aren had some issues, but he wasn’t a monster.
“Yeah, okay,” Aren said. “Want a popsicle?”

Summary
“Quiet!” The taller boy barked, shoving Shun harshly by the shoulders. He stumbled backwards, tripping over a rock and falling to the ground.
Shun’s palms and knees burned with the familiar feeling of being scraped raw. The sting caused tears to well up behind his eyes. He blinked quickly, hoping to avoid being laughed at for being a cry baby.
Something about seeing Shun lying on the ground, panic clouding his eyes, and on the verge of tears must have made something in the mullet kid snap.

Years before they meet in high school, Shun gets lost on his way home, and some delinquents think it’s a good idea to jump the poor kid. Aren quickly proves them otherwise and saves the day, of course.

“I- I like you, Shun.” Aren’s heart was beating so violently that he was sure the whole town could hear it.
Shun looked confused for a moment before his face broke out into a smile that Aren was just a little addicted to seeing.
“I like you too, Aren.” Shun replied after a brief pause, placing a bandaged hand on Aren’s shoulder.
“You do?” Aren managed. This was going so much better than he could imagine.
“Of course, I’ve known since I first met you that you would make a great ally. I think it’s time for us to make the blood pact to become Sworn Friends.” He replied in his Jet Black Wings voice.
“Huh?”

He feels it when someone does something stupid and Lance looks to Keith first to see if he’s laughing too, only to find that Keith’s looking right back at him.
He feels it when they spar together (because that’s something they do now too) and Lance realises that it’s actually a challenge for both of them.
And he definitely feels it when he steals glances at Keith’s profile, noting the slope of his nose and how his brows knit together when he’s concentrating and how his tongue sticks out just ever so slightly too, and he wonders how nice it would feel to kiss those lips and run his fingers through that hair-
Overall, Lance appreciates the change in their dynamic.
(There’s a small whisper at the back of his mind that says It’s love but he pushes it away every time it creeps up on him)
