“He did this to you, didn’t he?” Mike asked, sitting on the edge of Will’s bed with far more care than usual.
“Yes,” Will said. There was no point in denying it, not when it had all been forced out in the open.
“This wasn’t the first time, was it?” Mike asked, his face pinched like he already knew the answer.
“No, Mike. It wasn’t.”
Mike’s glassy eyes squeezed shut and Will watched tears slip down his cheeks. It hurt seeing Mike so upset. Will knew he probably should have been more worried about himself given everything he’d just been through, but Mike had always occupied a large part of Will’s brain at any given time so it really wasn’t that surprising.
Will let Mike cry for a few moments before he asked, “Can I have a hug?”
Mike is there for Will just like he's always been.

“Whazup?” he mumbled, lifting his head off the pillow and blinking in the darkness.
“Shhh, it’s fine,” replied Mike’s soft voice, breaking through the stillness that had followed Will’s muffled question, “I’ve got this one. You can go back to sleep.”
Mike and Will take turns staying up with Holly, who has begun to have nightmares about the monsters in Hawkins. Things take a curiously domestic turn.

The Wheelers, all five of them, are very different people. As long as Mike has been watching the Sinclairs tilt their heads the same way when they’re confused, watching Dustin and his mom’s matching squinty smiles, watching Will and Joyce and Jonathan’s- well, everything, honestly -he’s understood this. Karen and Ted do not have a marriage built on common ground, Nancy and Mike’s list of things they share starts and ends with sci-fi trauma, and though Holly is still a ways out from being a fully-fledged person, there are no signs that she’s going to break the chain.
The one thing that the Wheelers have, the single entry on the family crest, is their stubbornness. So, of course, Holly plants her feet, and stares up at Mike with narrowed eyes and a defiant scowl.
“Holly,” he says, “I’m not fucking around. Get in the car.”
The swear, which Mike usually tries to keep out of her earshot, seems to get through to her. If Will were functional right now, he could seal the deal, but he’s locked on the gate. Holly harrumphs and crosses her arms, when Mike hears a roar.
He sees the slimy skin, the sharp claws, and his mind goes blank.
