Summary
“You’re really suggesting this,” Martin says, voice pulled thin.
“Yes.” No hesitation.
“You would- actually do it?”
“I would.”
“With me.”
“Yes, Martin.”
“Why?” Because love is blind, says something cliché and cruel in the pit of his gut. Christ, he never was much of a poet, was he?Or,
When Jon asks Martin to Quit the Archives with him, Martin says yes. Things don't go as planned. In the Scottish Highlands, they hurt, and they heal.

Summary
Ah, Jon realises, he's probing for an intellectual discussion about their shared hatred of poetry. Of course!
"It's… unimaginative. They can describe a scene, certainly, but the writing feels devoid of any feeling other than disproportionate wide-eyed wonder. In fact, their only inspiration seems to be rain, the streets of London, and rain on the streets of London. Not to mention that their writing style is so enamoured with Keats that it lacks any distinction of its own. What do you think of it?"
Jon does not seem to have given the man the intellectual stimulation that he's looking for.
"Oh…" His eyebrows are nearing his hairline. His front teeth overlap, Jon notes when he offers a nervous smile. That's quite cute. "Um, I- I wrote it?"

Summary
“Well, I've never run a museum, but refusing to socialise with anyone who works there doesn't seem like the only way forward,” says Georgie. The Admiral places an inquisitive paw on her chin. “Just my two cents.”
And what could he say to that? Jon would have happily continued along his established track of failed curmudgeonly authority if the cat-situation hadn't come along to bond him and his co-workers in hushing up some gross museological malpractice.
(Oh, Jon knows it's just Martin. He wouldn't have thought twice about inviting Tim or Sasha over, and he knows exactly why. Not addressing that 'why' is a deliberate choice: whatever he feels for Martin needs a sturdy dam, or he'll find himself lost in the flood before long.)

Summary
The stairs creak, and Martin freezes. Sasha has the decency to stop in her tracks and look up, eyes darting to the door. “That's not good.”
“What's he even doing up here?” Other than coming to kill me, supplies Martin's mind helpfully. “I thought he was sorting through donation receipts today!”
“One of us can distract him,” Sasha offers, and immediately sneezes. “Not me though. Allergy's a dead giveaway.”
“I'm not legally allowed to move,” says Tim, making no move to dislodge either of the two kittens currently attached to him. “Sorry, Martin.”(In which Martin embarks on a hopeless quest to hide four cats and a monumental crush from his boss, Jon indulges his anarchist streak, and Tim and Sasha have no qualms encouraging shenanigans.)
