Chapter Text
Defense Attorney and Prosecutor
Edgeworth is stern and not a particularly warm person to be around, a contrast to Defense Attorney Wright. But now this iteration of Phoenix Wright has an icy exterior too! Will their coldness cancel each other out and become tender, in the end?! Or perhaps it takes a sharp sort like Edgeworth to pierce through Wright's outer shell after all.
Out of the Courtroom
Designing casual outfits for the cast is also a quiet joy of mine (not shading and coloring them, though). I have more to share, but as of now, it verges into spoiler territory so I shall refrain from posting more designs in this section. Maya here has a fuzzy autumn coat with jeans, and I can picture Prosecutor Wright in an outfit with a denim jacket and a simple shirt underneath. Of course, he'll still insist on wearing that scarf. Edgeworth goes for business-like jackets, shirts, ties, dress pants. All with bold or strong colors, such as his signature rich reds and maroons, black, and navy. I imagine he has a very casual set of loungewear for home, but maybe he sits around at home in a plain shirt and tie regardless.
I'm really glad to write chapters like Mia's wake and exploring Kurain. It allows the story to breathe as normal life carries on, and we get to learn more about the characters. One of the main purposes of writing this story is to explore different character relationships and interactions, so those out-of-the-courtroom type chapters are a perfect opportunity to bring characters together in unique scenarios. I'm really excited to bring Wright out of his shell in particular, and explore more of the Fey-Edgeworth partnership!
The 'E' Family: Aunt and Cousin
Of course, here's Edgeworth's cheery, family-oriented cousin Eli and his strict but kind Aunt Elaine Elchert. Eli has small kids of his own, including a young daughter a few years younger than Pearl. He and Edgeworth have pretty much been raised by Elaine and her own father, Richard Strauss. Eli's father works abroad and is not home very often.
Edgeworth is notably more mellow in this AU, and the fact that he was surrounded by an accepting and homely family plays a large part in that. Eli has popped in to say hello every now and then in the early chapters, but there has not been much mention of Elaine quite yet. Still, her influence in raising him is strong, and I hope you will be able to visualize the way his family played a role in shaping Edgeworth into the defense attorney he is now. The next time Edgeworth refrains from making a rude, scathing remark at somebody, be sure to thank both Eli and Elaine!
