Chapter Text
The sun was beginning to rise when the base became quiet and Tony emerged from the shadows. He approached the chamber that contained Maria. What he had wanted to do may take some time, so he double checked that no one would be approaching soon. A quick scan revealed that anyone left in the building was not nearby.
Looking at Maria’s chamber, Tony reached out mentally. Maria's mind was a mess from all the ‘programming’ that Hydra had done, and her brain was too old to handle that trauma causing it to break under the pressure. If that was the case, then all Tony would have to do would revert her mind back to a point where it could recover.
Another scan of her memories showed that this would be a much younger age than he had originally thought. He would have to revert Maria’s mind and body back to the time when she was seven. This would be around the time she had been taken by the Red Room. Tony let his powers take a hold of the woman’s soul, and begins the process of reverting her physical form to match her mental age. This would take a few minutes as a sudden change could have a massive inmost on her nervous system causing her body to go into shock, thankfully she was currently under cryo stasis which would help offset any issues.
Leaving his magic to its work, he turned to the other super soldiers. He had two options here; one, he could do the same process that was currently under way for Maria, or two he could release their souls from their physical bodies allowing them to find peace in the afterlife.
Considering his current mortal age, Tony did not thing that he would be able to look after five children on his own, and he did not have anyone who would be able to look after the children, most importantly he had no one he could trust with super soldier children. Additionally, the others' minds were too far gone to reliably regress them.
The decision was made for him. He let his magic seep into the air and touch the souls of the other soldiers, and cut the connections between their souls and bodies. Sending a mental pulse out to summon a reaper, Tony turned to the reaper who appeared next to him.
“Please, could you take these souls to Hela, so that she may guide them to their afterlifes.”
The reaper nodded, before gathering the glowing souls and departing as quickly as they had appeared.
Tony turned back to Maria. The reversion had almost finished, meaning that Tony could start the process of releasing her from the cryo stasis pod. A minute later a young child was lying before him. A quick mental poke made sure that she would not wake up on the journey back to his home.
Now that the super soldiers were dealt with, it was time to look into the location of one James “Bucky” Barnes.
