Chapter Text
“You're sooo… pretty” you slurred in awe, face flushing as he furrowed his eyebrows at your remark.
This wasn’t your first time drinking, definitely wasn’t your last either. In fact you had gotten drunk a couple times to know your limit pretty well, but tonight you ignored your warning signs and slurring sentences chugging beer after beer, cheap wine shots, some Smirnoff Jess managed to wrangle out of her parents. You had done waaayyyy too much, to the point where Sam had cut you off. “Unh uh, you’re cut for the night partner.” She said to you with a light girlish giggle trailing behind her words. You were a few more sips from being blackout drunk.
All the drinking games Mike insisted on playing, the mix of light and dark liquor, all your friends getting along for once.. getting drunk tonight was a rite of passage. Or at least it was, now that you’re giggling at everything it’s clear the night has run its course. Which is exactly why it made sense to call in for the night early.
“C’mon” Josh grunted as he pulled you up with one arm and began to try and guide you to your feet. The two of you were the last ones in the lodge living room actually, everyone else had strayed away to whatever room Josh had shown them too when the sun was still visible.
“I’m fine, I’m fine. I can do it myself Josh.” You playfully pushed him away and fell back onto the couch, letting all your dead weight sink into it. “I don’t need your help.” You turned your head away from him disapprovingly.
Josh, who was also a bit drunk himself, smirked at you. The same way he did when he managed to get three straight shots while playing beer pong, the same smirk that made you flush when you met eyes only to have your gaze quickly averted by Chris’ over top cheering. “Alright alright Cochise.” He hushed the applause as ‘humbly’ as possible, all the while never taking his eyes off you.
“Cmon girl,” he huffed, pulling you the wrist again, this time managing to get you standing. “I didn’t know you got down like this, totally out of character for you.” He coaxed as you leaned your full body into his chest. His arms, which you always admired for how toned they appeared even with little to no working out, held you up firmly — tightly.
You looked up from your drunken haze, losing yourself in his eyes. They were almost reminiscent of two mirrors with the way you could see yourself haphazardly standing against him in their reflection.
Then you said it.. “You're sooo… pretty” The words came out slurred, and bunched together. When the realization finally set in of what you’d said, and whom you said it too .. your face flushed. He furrowed his eyebrows at your remark, “yeah, really?” he placed his hand against the nook of your back right above your waistband.
“You think I’m purrtyyy” he exaggerated, followed by a poorly done school girl-esque laugh. There he goes.
“I think you’re fucking hot.” You said with little to no hesitation, that was the heat of the liquor talking — bubbling up in your throat. False confidence consumed you, “I think you’re the hottest guy I’ve ever knownnn.” You blinked at him like a doe-eyed deer and trailed your finger across his chest.
“You’re the hottest man alive.”
“That’s definitely the drinks talking.” He said, “I think you’re pretty smokin’ too.” There was a little hiccup following his words, causing you both to grin at each other like children.
“Is that all you think of me?” Josh brushed the side of your face with his free hand while the other trailed circles in your back.
“Don’t get a big head.” You said, shaking your head and rested it against his chest.
“Too late.” He searched your face, waiting for another compliment for his ego — but before you could think of one your lips were hovering over his. You stood on your tippy toes, head tilted up ever so slightly to be at eye level and you waited. You waited for the drunk confidence to rush back in, to give you the strength to pull your lips into his. Too taste him, and all the drinks and junk food.
He pushed you closer by your back, your synching heart beating seemingly filling the silent lodge living room. You closed your eyes, took a deep breath, and pressed your lips softly against his. Attempting to mask your immense desire that had seemingly built up over the course of the night.
The kiss broke, you blinked at him, he blinked back. A smile crept across his face and before you could say anything you both erupted in drunken laughter.
“You really think I’m that hot?” He smugly remarked.
You rolled your eyes as he helped you to your room, embers of the slowing fire crackling behind you.
