Chapter Text
“’Zuku is an alien, and he is kinda spacey!”
“Kacchan, stop it–”
“Coming from the uni-verse–”
“Kacchaaaan…”
“To party and go cra-zy!”
“I can’t stop you, can I?” Izuku whined.
“HAH! Nope, but I’ll stop on my own!” Katsuki barked while laughing.
“God dammit, Katsuki…” Izuku facepalms as Katsuki opens the door to 1-A, and they walk to their seats.
It only took a few moments after the morning bell for Aizawa to walk in, looking as tired as usual.
“I’m going to be honest. My patrol was absolute hell last night, so this will be a free period for you all. You better appreciate that because it won’t happen a lot. I recommend you all get to know each other. Just try not to bug me unless it’s an emergency.”
Before anyone could respond, Aizawa had already zipped up his sleeping bag and slunk down behind the podium, leaving more than a few students questioning where on earth he was keeping that thing and how he got himself settled so fast.
Izuku’s pink-skinned classmate regained her senses first. “I have an idea! How about we go around the room and introduce ourselves! We can start at seat one and go down the list. Name, quirk if you’re comfortable sharing, and a fact about us?”
Nods and sounds of agreement rippled around the classroom, so they began going around.
//
“Monsieurs and mademoiselles, I am Yuga Aoyama!~” The blonde boy introduced himself first. He raised his shirt to reveal a stylized belt.
“My Navel Laser quirk is très magnifique! It lets me fire off powerful lasers from my navel, though I do need this belt to protect myself. A fun fact about myself is that I was raised in France and transferred to Japan in middle school!”
//
“Hiya! I’m Mina Ashido. My quirk is Acid!”
Ashido secreted a gray substance from the palm of her hand.
“I can make acid from my skin, and I can control the viscosity and solubility, and I have increased resistance to it.”
She flexed her arm playfully. “That resistance is actually why my skin is pink! It turned pink when I was a kid. My fun fact is that I take dance classes regularly!”
//
I’m Tsuyu Asui, ribbit, but please call me Tsu since I prefer if my friends and colleagues call me that. My quirk is Frog; I’ve developed frog-like abilities and behaviors like my longer tongue and my involuntary croaks, ribbit. My favorite food is raspberry jelly.”
//
I am Tenya Iida; it is a pleasure to meet you all! My quirk is Engine, which gives me engines in my legs that increase my speed!”
Before Iida could continue, Katsuki raised a hand, which Iida acknowledged. “Are ya’ related to Ingenium, by any chance?”
Iida, for his part, looked shocked. “I was not expecting anyone to figure it out that quickly since I try to hide it so people don’t bother me too much.”
His shock was quickly replaced with a look of pride and admiration. “He’s my older brother, and I hope to be a worthy successor to the Ingenium name and the Iidaten family!”
//
“I’m Ochako Uraraka, so happy to meet you! My quirk, Zero Gravity, lets me remove the gravity from anything I touch with all five fingers, myself included! My favorite hero is Thirteen since I’ve always loved space!”
//
“I’m Mashirao Ojiro. My quirk is called Tail, and what it does should be pretty obvious.”
His dry tone while introducing his quirk drew some laughs from the other students.
“My grandfather runs a dojo that I train at regularly. You guys are free to come by if you want lessons.”
//
“’Sup everyone? The name’s Denki Kaminari, and my quirk is Electrification!”
Kaminari held out his hand, letting electricity arc across it.
“I can absorb and emit electricity at a wide range of voltages but can’t shoot it away from myself well. A sort-of fun fact that I think is cool to share is that I really love English novels.”
//
“I’m Eijiro Kirishima!”
Kirishima raised his arm and concentrated, making it more jagged and sharp with a distinct sound.
“My quirk is Hardening; as you can guess from the name, it lets me harden my body to insane levels!”
He looked at Ashido in front of his desk with a confident yet questioning glance. Ashido nodded and leaped over to wrap her arms around his shoulders.
“My fun fact for you all is that Mina and I have been friends for years, and we started dating a few months ago!”
Some students cheered on the small display of affection and unity before moving on to the following introduction.
//
“Hello, I’m Kouji Kouda.” Iida translated from JSL for the rest of the class. “My quirk is called Anivoice. It allows me to communicate and issue commands to animals by talking. I can’t command those with animal-based mutations, transformations, or companion quirks like I can animals, nor can I command animals with quirks that increase their intelligence, but I can persuade them. I have a pet rabbit named Yuwai at home!”
//
“Yo, I’m Rikido Satou. My quirk is Sugar Rush. By eating sugary food, I can multiply my strength! My current level is five times for three minutes with every ten grams of sugar. A fun fact is that thanks to my quirk, my metabolism is very optimized, so the effect of eating sugar is almost instant!”
//
“My name is Mezo Shouji. My quirk, which should hopefully be obvious, is Dupli-Arms.” Shouji spoke from a mouth on the end of one of his arms. “I can grow mouths, ears, and eyes on the ends of my arms, and four of them can rapidly regenerate.”
Shouji paused for a brief moment before resuming. “I’m rather simplistic, so the most fun fact I can think of is that I plan for my hero name to be Tentacole since some of my friends when we were kids thought my extra arms made me look like an octopus.”
//
“I’m Kyouka Jirou.” The girl with headphone jack earlobes spoke with a slightly sassy tone. “My Earphone Jack quirk lets me hear better and project my heartbeat through my lobes. Even though they’re from a couple centuries ago, Green Day is my favorite band.”
//
“I’m Hanta Sero! My quirk, Tape, is pretty self-explanatory: I can shoot tape from the holes in my elbows! Something my friends thought was interesting is that I’m a huge fan of soy food.”
//
“I am Fumikage Tokoyami, and this is Dark Shadow.” The boy with a crow’s head spoke while gesturing to the shadowy bird figure protruding from their back through his clothes.
“Dark Shadow is my quirk from the shadows, but she is her own person as well since she is a sentient quirk. I ask that you please treat her as an additional classmate and companion in our endeavors of the light.”
“Heya, I’m Dark Shadow! I use she/her pronouns, and Fumi uses he/they! I love apples!”
“My crow’s head is a leftover mutation from my mother’s ancestors.”
//
“My name is Shouto Todoroki. I am not here to make friends; I am here to become the top hero.”
After a long, awkward silence, they realized Todoroki wouldn’t be saying anything else and moved on.
//
“Hi everybody!” The invisible girl waved animatedly. “My name is Tooru Hagakure! My quirk is Invisibility, and it works by manipulating the light around me! I haven’t quite figured out how to make myself visible again, but I’m working on it! A fun fact that I’ll hopefully be able to show you all someday is that my hair has natural rainbow accents!”
//
“The name’s Katsuki Bakugou,” Katsuki spoke confidently while creating explosive sparks in his left hand. “My Explosion quirk is top-notch. I sweat a chemical close to nitroglycerin that I can ignite at will. I recently developed a strength augmentation aspect to my quirk as my explosions strengthened, allowing me to withstand them better.”
Katsuki’s grin grew feral. “Don’t expect me to ever fucking chill. Because of my nitro-like sweat, my blood pressure is always low unless I keep up my energy. I’m a jackass because I need to be, and if you don’t like it, you can bite me!”
//
“I’m Izuku Midoriya, it’s a pleasure to meet you all!” Izuku flashed a sunny smile that made more than a few students fluster with its warm energy.
“My quirk, Ikari, is multi-faceted. The core of it is that I have full control over my body’s entire energy supply, allowing me to do many things. I can transform to better handle the immense power, but I still haven’t fully mastered it.”
He scratched his chin as he tried to think of some interesting fact that wouldn’t blow his cover.
“Similar to Tokoyami, my tail is a mutation from my father’s side of my family.”
Excellent job, nerd. Katsuki appraised in his mind.
//
“My name’s Hitoshi Shinsou. My quirk is Brainwashing; if someone verbally responds to a question I ask, I can take control of them and command them. I can’t make them do anything too complex, but I could make someone jump or do a simple task, for example.”
Shinsou looked to the ground with a faint blush. “I can’t really think of a fun fact to share.”
“Hey, eyebags!” Katsuki shouted, getting everyone’s attention with a start.
“...I just said my name, Bakubrat.” Shinsou snarked.
“I suck shit at remembering names. Most of y’all are gonna get shitty nicknames until I can get them through my skull. Anyway, if you’re worried about your quirk, don’t.”
Shinsou’s eyes widened at Katsuki’s declaration and raised a confused eyebrow.
“It doesn’t matter if people are scared of your quirk. You’re in the hero course, aren’t ya’? You’re gonna be a fuckin’ hero, got that?”
A tense moment passed before Shinsou chuckled under his breath. “Got it, blasty.”
//
“Greetings, everyone. My name is Momo Yaoyorozu. I know that may be a mouthful, so you are free to call me Yaomomo if it is easier. My quirk is called Creation, and it lets me create anything nonliving matter using my stores of lipids, provided I’ve memorized the atomic configuration for the material and can visualize the shape.”
Yaoyorozu smiled wistfully. “The first thing I ever made with my quirk was a matryoshka doll in my mother’s image.”
Some of the girls cooed at the cute fact.
//
“I think that introduction earlier was fun, don’t you agree, Kat?” Izuku hummed to his best friend while they waited for their heroics instructors to arrive.
“Yeah, I guess it was,” Katsuki shrugged noncommittally. “Could’ve been more fun if we did something else entirely.”
“Oh shush, you grump, you know you liked hearing all those cool things.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, ya’ fuckin’ nerd.”
The sound of footsteps caused all conversation in the classroom to cease as 1-A directed their attention to the doorway. The man who walked through stunned most of them, mostly because of how unassuming he appeared.
Now, at the podium stood a man almost seven feet tall. His hair was near identical to Izuku’s – something that escaped nobody. He wore glasses similar to Iida in shape, although they were a golden color that somehow looked sturdier than anything they’d seen before. A skin-tight black jumpsuit sat underneath a white chestplate with yellow joints, and he wore white gloves with white fingers and white boots with yellow toes.
The last thing that caught their attention was the tail swaying and swishing behind him, identical to Izuku’s tail.
“Hello, Class 1-A,” the man spoke in a tone that exuded power and experience. “I am Hisashi Midoriya, your combat instructor for your heroics classes.”
Murmurs erupted throughout the class before Hisashi regained their attention. “Yes, I am Izuku’s father. Rest assured, I will not treat him any differently than the rest of you. It will help that I am not your only instructor for the heroics-related classes.”
“HA HA HA!” A familiar booming laugh echoed through the hallway outside the room, making the class gasp in excitement.
“I am merely your combat instructor since I am new to heroics in general,” Hisashi gestured to the door. “This man will be teaching you more about what being a hero is about.”
“I AM HERE, COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A HERO!” All Might posed as he crossed through the doorway into the classroom.
// OMAKE
“I see you were bested by Young Midoriya, Aizawa!” All Might accused Aizawa after reviewing the footage from the quirk apprehension test the day before.
“What do you mean, All Might?” Aizawa's voice carried a hint of defiance, his eyes narrowing slightly. He was well aware of what All Might was referring to, but he wasn't about to make it easy for him.
“You expelled the entirety of last year’s Class 1-A; you know I know that! In earlier years, you would remove people from the hero course without hesitation or a moment’s notice.”
“Your point?” Aizawa impatiently raised a brow.
“You might want to call off most of your usual ‘logical ruses’ and ‘rational deceptions’ for this class, Aizawa,” All Might sternly lectured his colleague. “Even if they aren’t born from your internalized biases like your quirk test ruse, I know Young Midoriya. If he senses even a hint of injustice or unfairness, he will tear you and your ideology to shreds.”
Aizawa looked to the sky above himself as All Might’s words sunk in.
“Young Midoriya was raised by a human who understands the sociopolitical landscape of the nation and an alien who’s explored dozens of worlds. He’s been raised with the knowledge of acts of such good and evil that would take us hundreds of years to match here on Earth. He’s will be one of the best heroes this world will know. He will inspire others to act alongside him. Remember that.”
