Notes:

Hi Guys! I've never written anything in my life but I absolutely love Star Wars, especially Clone Wars and especially Anakin Skywalker. Obviously why I'm beating him up a bit;). Obvs don't own anything Star Wars just a lifelong fan.

So here we go, don't expect pro writing just doing my best. Probably won't be medically accurate but I have done some research.

Also set around the era of season 1 and 2.

I work nights so I’ll try and update as soon as I can

Chapter 1: Crash Landing

Chapter Text

"Admiral, get the hanger doors open, I'm coming in hot!" Anakin shouted down the comm.

"General, what could have possibly happened in the ten seconds in which we last spoke?" The admiral dryly replied.

"JUST DO IT"

Admiral Yularen sighed, “Open the hangars doors.”

“Yes sir”

Anakin could see the doors of the Resolute slowly open as his Jedi interceptor sped through space towards his flagship. “This isn’t gonna be good,” he said to himself. Artoo whistled in agreement.

“Anakin, what’s happening,” Obi-Wan said through his ship's comm, the hint of worry was coming through.

“Oh you know, the usual Master”

“Define the usual.”

“You know, got hit, ships out of control, no brakes. That usual.”

“I see well please try not to kill yourself with this one then”

“Will do my best”

Anakin braced himself as the hangar grew closer, he tried his best to line up his ship with the most empty part of the hangar although he knew it was going to be tight.  He pulled on the lever to try to level himself but even that wasn’t responding, “Not good, Artoo eject! ” he said urgently moments before his nose collided with the floor of the hangar. Anakin was thrown forward in the cockpit and his head hit the console knocking him out instantly. At least he didn’t have to witness the rest of the crash.

The front of his ship completely caved in on itself and then flipped onto its back, smashing the glass of his cockpit, then barrel rolling a few more times before landing upright (a small win perhaps?). Just at this point Obi-Wan made an appearance, where the sheer horror of the crash faced him. For a moment all he could do was stand there mouth agape not knowing what to do or think before the force called to him, “move Kenobi!” He took off in a sprint towards his brother's mangled star fighter praying that the young man was still in one piece.

Obi-Wan had already made the smart decision to call Kix to the hangar as soon as he knew Anakin was inbound. He leapt onto the remainder of what was the wing of the star fighter before calling, “ANAKIN, ANAKIN CAN YOU HEAR ME,” there was no reply. He couldn’t even see his face as he was slumped over the console. Just as he was about to reach for him, “DON’T TOUCH HIM!” came a shout from the edge of the hangar. It was Kix, closely followed closely behind by Rex, “ We don’t want to make him worse general, allow me please,” he said whilst climbing up the ship next to him.

“Rex get the ground team, I’m going to need them to cut off what's left of the front of the ship if we’re going to get him out without causing more damage”

“On it!” Rex replied, he was used to seeing his general banged up but even this was breaking records for sure.

“Now general, I know you’re worried but I’m gonna need you to move out the way for me,” Kix calmly but firmly said to Obi-Wan.

“Of course, sorry Kix,” Obi-Wan replied, voice shaking with said worry. He knew Kix was the best medic the 501st had, but that didn’t stop the crippling fear he had for his former apprentice.

“Oh Anakin,” He said under his breath, “You’ve certainly done it again.”

Chapter 2: Triage

Summary:

Kix gets to finding out the extent of his General's injuries.

Notes:

Hi guys, for someone who hasn't written before, I'm actually quite enjoying it.
Updates probs will be quite random as I work nights so my sleep is terrible so finding time is quite hard. I am committed to finishing this so bear with me!

Love you all!

Chapter Text

“Right then general, let's have a look at you,” Kix said. He knelt down on the wing of the fighter and set his emergency med kit down next to him. Although Obi-Wan had moved aside, Kix could still feel him breathing down his neck, “Sir, please, I can’t assess him properly with you standing there, I promise I will talk you through everything I do but you need to step back.” Obi-Wan begrudgingly stood back to the edge of the wing.

Kix began carefully feeling around Anakin’s neck, which was quite difficult considering he was slumped over the console. He then proceeded to feel down his spine.

“The neck’s not broken and the spine seems intact.”

Obi-Wan breathed a shaky sigh of relief.

“I’m going to slowly move him back so he’s sat upright and I can assess the rest of him.”

With that, Kix cautiously moved Anakin back, supporting his head until he was upright and back against his seat. At this point Obi-Wan crept forward to see his padawan’s face. Although annoyed, Kix allowed it as he knew it might settle him somewhat to see Anakin’s face.

It hardly settled Obi-Wan though as Anakin’s face was dripping with blood, leaking from a cut on his forehead where it had met the console on the rough landing.

Anakin however, did start to stir, much to the relief of his master, “Anakin?” Obi-Wan hesitantly said. All that he got in return was a slight moan, Anakin had only slightly opened his eyes, but it was enough for Obi-Wan at this point in time.

“General, I need to continue now.”

“Yes Kix, sorry, carry on.”

There was immediate concern on Kix’s face when he noticed that a shard of glass from the cockpit had pierced Anakin’s chest armour and was lodged in his shoulder. At least the armour would have stopped it going too deep but it wasn’t ideal. He was quickly distracted though as Anakin started to make short gasping noises and his lips were starting to turn blue. “Kriff!’ Kix exclaimed, “General Kenobi, I believe General Skywalker has a punctured lung, I’m going to release the air trapped so he can breathe, but that does mean I must quickly insert a needle into his chest.”

Obi-Wan was mortified, “Uh.. right.. Do what you need to do,” he didn’t really know what else to say as the panic was rising.

“It’s a temporary fix sir, but it will work.”

Kix opened his med pack and pulled out the needle and some trauma shears, he quickly cut a hole in Anakin’s robe, exposing his chest and lined up the correct space in his ribs and roughly along to line up above his nipple. A quick deep breath and he pushed in firmly. Anakin involuntarily inhaled a massive breath of air, much to Kix and Obi-Wan’s relief. His face then settled back into the uncomfortable and pained position it was in before.

“Sir, my guess would be that the lever of the fighter broke his ribs on impact, which subsequently pierced his lung. I will need to X-Ray as soon as we get to the med bay.”

Obi-Wan simply nodded in agreement, his eyes too focused on watching Anakin’s face. At that moment he decided to sit behind Anakin on the back of the ship, whispering words of comfort and slowly stroking through his hair to try and comfort him. Kix didn’t mind as long as he didn’t move his head too much, something he would keep an eye on.

At this point, Rex returned with the ground team and cutting equipment. “Just in time Rex old boy,” said Kix, “We need to get him moving quickly.”

“Always in time to save the day Kix,” Rex replied, “How is he?” he noticed Anakin’s pained expression and General Kenobi quietly trying to soothe him. “So far we’ve got broken ribs, a collapsed lung, what I believe will be a concussion to go with that cut and a lovely piece of glass in the shoulder. On the bright side, no neck or spine injuries as of yet, we just need to cut the front of the ship off so I can assess the bottom part and get him to med bay ASAP.”

“Let's get to it then, alright men you heard the medic, we need this done quickly and carefully, I don’t want the general losing any legs today.”

“Yes sir,” the ground team replied as they moved in.

They began cutting away under the watchful eye of Captain Rex while Kix removed Anakin’s glove from his flesh hand to place a pulse oximeter to keep an eye on his heart rate and oxygen levels. He took this opportunity to try and get a look at the cut on Skywalker’s head. It had mostly clotted only seeping a small amount of blood now, so he reached for some gauze and gave it to Obi-Wan, “Here General, carefully hold this against that cut.”

Obi-Wan took it, “Thanks Kix,” and with that put it against Anakin’s head. Anakin leaned into his master’s touch. He still hadn’t spoken since regaining consciousness, but this was normal with such a nasty knock to the head.

The front of the fighter was now removed and Kix jumped down to assess Anakin’s bottom half. Rex took his place to keep an eye on his general. Anakin made eye contact with his general and gave him a small smile.

“This was a bad one sir, I don’t know how you manage to pull off these stunts,” he said, returning the smile. He got another smirk in response.

“Are you okay General Kenobi?”

“I will be as soon as we get to med bay captain,” Obi-Wan returned with a small smile.

“Right then General Kenobi,” Kix shouted from under the fighter, “we’ve definitely got a broken leg from the crush of the nose, but apart from that, the bottom half seems clear.”

More relief from Obi-Wan, “Okay that’s a positive.”

“I think we are ready to transport now, I’ve already contacted the med team, they are on their way with a stretcher.”

Chapter 3: Off to the Medbay

Summary:

Here comes the difficult process of getting Anakin out of the wreckage

Notes:

Sorry this ones a bit shorter, I'm running late for work!

Chapter Text

As if on cue, the hangar bay doors opened with Kix’s med team and a stretcher.

“Right here’s how we’re going to do this,” Kix announced to Obi-Wan, Rex and the med team.

“Considering the fighter is quite high and we need to keep General Skywalker as still as possible, Captain Rex, General Kenobi and I will lower him down to the med team, who in turn will lower him onto the stretcher, all clear”

“Yes sir,” was the response from the med team.

“We can do that, right General Kenobi?” Rex asked, not sure if Obi-Wan was paying attention as he was still focused on comforting Anakin.

“Sounds like a plan to me Rex.”

“Good,” Kix interjected. “Okay here’s what we do, I will take the General’s legs, as I’m already down here, Rex you go for the midsection, just watch the ribs and the glass and General Kenobi, you are on the head. You need to keep it as still as possible so we don’t do any more damage.”

“Are you ready for this Anakin?” Obi-Wan softly said. Anakin just looked at him with a pained expression and slowly tried to nod, wincing at the pain that itself just caused.

“This isn’t going to be easy or painless Generals,” Kix said with regret. “I will give General Skywalker a pain killer but this is still going to hurt.”

With that Kix climbed up to where Obi-Wan was and took out a hypo spray and administered it into Anakin’s neck.”This will take the edge off of it sir.”

“Th..ank y..ou Kix,” Anakin weakly said. Both Kix and Obi-Wan looked at each other, “It’s good to hear your voice again sir,” Kix breathed out with a sense of relief.

“Anakin, you have had me so worried,” Obi-Wan said with a tear in his eye.

“Y..you know m..me, M..Master,” came Anakin’s shakily reply.

“With all due respect sir, I need you to save your energy for this so be quiet” Kix gave him a smile.

Anakin simply nodded.

“Are we all ready?” Kix announced.

“Yes,” all the bodies in the hangar replied.

“Okay, on three,”

“One,” Kix grasped Anakin’s legs, being careful to keep the broken one as still as possible.

“Two,” Rex positioned himself to get his arms under Anakin’s shoulders, trying not to shift the glass lodged in the right one.

“Three,” Obi-Wan’s hands gently grasping Anakin’s head from behind, steadying his neck.

With that they moved in unison, but as Kix knew he would, Anakin howled out in pain, “S-STOP P-PLEASE!”

“You can do this General just a few more seconds.”

Kix moved his legs up to make him level with Obi-Wan and Rex.

“Med team, we’re now lowering down to you,”

The three of them gradually lowered Anakin over the side of the ship.

“ARRRGHHHH,” Anakin’s screams haunted Obi-Wan’s very being. “Obi-Wan make it stop please!” He howled.

“We’re nearly there Ani you can do this, breathe with me,” Obi-Wan was finding it hard to shield his fear for Anakin but was determined to be strong for his former apprentice.

Moments later Anakin was being handed to the team below, who lowered him onto the stretcher. Kix, Rex and Obi-Wan jumped down to the ground next to them. Kix immediately went to re-check all his injuries to make sure none had been made worse whilst Rex went to the ground team to get started on moving the wreckage. Obi-Wan was straight at Anakin’s side and took his hand in his own, “You’ve done so well Anakin, although I’m not sure I’ll be letting you fly ever again,” he wiped the tears away from Anakin’s face and brushed his hands through his hair. Anakin just looked up at him smiling weakly, too exhausted to say anything.

“I think we are mostly okay,” Kix said, taking the two Jedi out of their moment. “The glass in the shoulder has shifted slightly and has started bleeding again, but it's nothing I can’t sort out.”

“I am forever in your debt Kix,” Obi-Wan said gratefully.

Kix just smiled, “Just doing my job sir, now I suggest we get moving to the med bay.”

With that the team started off to the med bay, Kix followed closely behind and Obi-Wan never left Anakin’s side.

Chapter 4: The Start of the Fix Up

Summary:

Kix begins to put back together the broken Anakin

Notes:

Hi Guys!

Sorry it's been so long, work sucks right now and I've been to tired to write but I'm back now and hopefully will update again soon!

Big love as always!

Chapter Text

The med team burst through the doors with haste and lined up the stretcher carrying a battered and bruised Anakin to the bed closest to them. “On three - one, two, three!” With that the team lifted Anakin onto the bed, he groaned in pain, losing all energy to shout out anymore. Obi-Wan responded by brushing through his hair again.

“Thank you boys, I’ll take it from here,” Kix said to the med team, gratitude in his voice. He knew Anakin would be more comfortable with less people around so he decided Obi-Wan would be the help he needed, he was stable for the moment anyway.

“General Kenobi, we’re going to need to patch him up now, I will do most of the work but I may need you to step in if needed.”

“Okay Kix, whatever you need.”

Obi-Wan remained by Anakin’s head trying to comfort him as much as possible, “You’re doing so well Anakin, I’m so proud of you.” Anakin just looked up at him with tired and pained eyes.

“Firstly I’m going to need to finish sorting out that lung, so here’s what’s going to happen, we’re going to remove the general’s armour. The fun part will be trying to cut around the glass that’s lodged in it, I don’t want to risk moving that just yet.”

Obi-Wan looked at the protruding sharpness sticking out of Anakin’s shoulder and grimaced.

“Then we will remove the rest of his top half, okay?”

“Right,” Obi-Wan replied nervously.

With that Kix unclipped the back part of Anakin’s armour and put it to one side, “Here comes the fun bit,” he said under his breath, as he took what looked like a small powered saw and activated it. “General I’m going to need you to keep General Skywalker’s shoulders still while I do this.” Obi-Wan moved from Anakin’s side to behind him and held his shoulders down. Anakin yelped at the sudden pressure, “It’s okay Anakin just focus on me,” Obi-Wan lovingly said from above him. Anakin’s teary eyes stared up at his master with a longing for this nightmare to end.

Kix then proceeded to cut around the armour until a small circle with the glass in the middle remained. “Okay, that wasn’t so bad.”

Obi-Wan lifted his head to face the head medic, “Nicely done,” he smiled.

Kix removed Anakin’s belt along with his lightsaber, knowing the value they held he carefully handed them to Obi-Wan, next Kix removed the glove from Anakin’s mechno hand then proceeded with the trauma shears up both arms and down Anakin’s middle, “General, I need your help to remove these.” Obi-Wan then slowly lifted Anakin from the shoulders, trying to keep his head still, while Kix pulled out his tunic from underneath him. Now exposed, the extent of the damage to Anakin’s mid section was revealed. He was covered in black and blue bruises all over but more concentrated on his right side where the punctured lung was.

“General Kenobi, the next bit will be painful. To get an X-ray, I will need to lift the General’s arm above his head and considering what’s likely broken, this isn’t going to be pretty.”

“Right, okay,” Obi-Wan replied, “Anakin, look at me,” Anakin’s gaze slowly moved back to Obi-Wan’s face, “We need to move your arm above your head okay? I know this will hurt but you need to focus on me, breathe with me okay.” Anakin started following Obi-Wan’s breathing pattern, seeing this as the distraction he needed, Kix hoisted his arm up above his head. Anakin howled out in pain, “Keep breathing Anakin, you’re doing so well, focus on my voice.”

Kix moved his mobile x-ray machine above him and took the image he needed to confirm what he was 99% sure of what had happened. He was right, two of Anakin’s ribs were broken and had pierced his lung. “General Skywalker, I’m going to need to insert a chest tube, but first I will inject you with a painkiller.” Anakin was too out of it to even notice Kix talking to him but Obi-Wan acknowledged what he was saying.

With that Kix administered the painkiller and took a scalpel and made an incision in Anakin’s side and inserted the chest tube. “How are you doing, General?”

“‘m-tired ,” Anakin weakly replied.

“I need you to stay awake for me Sir, just a little longer.”

“Mmmm,” was all the response he got.

“General Kenobi, would you mind cleaning his face while I prepare the suture kit,” Kix asked Obi-Wan, handing him a bowl of warm water and a cloth.

“Certainly,” Obi-Wan replied, taking them from him. He slowly dampened the cloth and started wiping Anakin’s blood coated face. Anakin leaned into his Master’s gentle touch and Obi-Wan ran his hand through his hair once again, “You’re okay, dear one, I’ve got you.”

Kix returned with his supplies as Obi-Wan finished up. “I’m just going to check his eyes.” He then shone his pen light across Anakin’s eyes which caused Anakin to moan in pain, “Yeah, there’s a concussion in there,” Kix spoke regretfully, “Nothing you haven’t dealt with before though, Sir.” Anakin tiredly smirked in reply.

The chief medic then turned his attention to the cut on his General’s head. “That’s a nasty one too,” he began stitching it up as Obi-Wan looked on, “Honestly Anakin, you’re going to send me to an early grave.”

Once his forehead was in one piece again Kix decided Anakin needed a break, “Right, let's have a ten minute breather, so you can relax for a moment General, then we need to get that glass out of you and set that leg straight.”

“Will he be alright if we stop?” a worried Obi-Wan asked.

“I believe him to be stable now, yes, just no moving around, we don't want to make that shoulder worse, I’ll leave you two to it for a moment.” With that Kix went into his office to start his report on the incident, leaving the two Jedi alone.

“Honestly Anakin, how are you feeling?” Obi-Wan asked as the dust began to settle after the hectic events of the day.

Now that they had stopped for a moment Anakin was a bit more coherent, “It hurts master, that’s all I can say.”

Obi-Wan rested his hand on Anakin’s cheek, “what on earth happened out there dear one? What do you remember?”

“I’m not sure, I remember something hitting me and shouting to the admiral, but after that I don’t remember anything really.”

“Walking into that hangar watching your ship crash and flip was like watching my worst nightmare.”

“I’m sorry Master.”

“Don’t be sorry you idiot, it wasn’t your fault.”

Anakin laughed at that.

Obi-Wan laughed as well, “You do keep me on my toes my Padawan.”

“Not your Padawan.”

“You will always be my Padawan Anakin, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Chapter 5: Finishing the Fix Up

Summary:

Anakin finally gets all patched up, but still suffers

Notes:

Sorry for the long time between chapters guys! Had an accident that put me out of commission for a while but I’m back and ready to continue this!

Chapter Text

Rex observed the scene before him. He hadn’t seen the hangar in such a state in a long time. As his eyes slowly crossed the floor, they were met with debris, dents, glass and even some flames. “ I don’t know how he manages to get into these messes,” he smiled to himself.

The chief groundsman pulled him out of his thoughts.

“Scrapper, how are we doing?”

“No risk of explosion sir, just need to clean up the debris and put out a few flames, the hanger will survive. How’s the general?”

“Just had a comm from Kix that he’s stable now, they are just giving him a few minutes to rest before they continue.”

“Good to hear, we can finish this up Sir, go see him.”

“Good man, thanks Scrapper.”

With that, Rex made his way out of the hangar and onto the medbay.

——————————————————————

“Ready to carry on General?” Kix asked.

“Let’s get this over with,” a more coherent Anakin replied.

“Good to hear you sounding more with us Sir, let’s get this done and you can rest.”

Kix looked at his General and decided the best course of action was to remove the shard of glass in his shoulder. “Right then, here’s what we do now,” he began. Obi-Wan watched him with his full attention. “We are going to remove that lovely new addition to your body General.” Anakin simply nodded.

“General Kenobi, if I could borrow you?”

Obi-Wan moved to behind Anakin’s head once again, “Sir, I’m going to gently pull this out, I just need you to keep pressure around it so as not to pull on anything else.”

“Sounds simple enough,” Obi-Wan replied.

“That’s the plan, nice and simple.”

“General Skywalker, I’m going to give you some more painkillers for this but it will still hurt I’m afraid.” Kix said as he was injecting said painkiller around the site of the wound. Anakin grimaced.

“Okay here we go, nice and gentle,” Kix carefully gripped the glass as Obi-Wan pressed down on each side of the wound.

“ARRGGGHHH!”

The medbay filled with Anakin’s screams.

“Keep going Anakin, you can do this,” Obi-Wan encouraged, looking down at him. “Just focus on me.”

Anakin looked up at him with glassy eyes.

“That’s it, just focus on this old fool, it will be over soon.”

Anakin attempted a laugh but the pain was too much.

Slowly but surely the glass started to dislodge from his shoulder, until eventually it came out.

“All done, Sir.” Kix announced as he set the shard down on a tray, along with the last bit of his armour. “Just a few stitches and it will be good as new.”

Anakin was relieved that that horrible endeavour was over, he was exhausted. “Please tell me we’re done, Master?” He said quietly.

“Nearly, dear one. We’ve just got to set that leg.”

Anakin moaned, “No I've had enough now.”

Obi-Wan laughed, “Well unless you want a leg to match your arm, we have to do it.”

“Hmmm, fine.” Anakin begrudgingly agreed.

“Right then, General, the last leg of the journey,” Kix looked up at the pair, “No pun intended.”

Obi-Wan shook his head and smiled, while Anakin rolled his eyes with a smirk.

“So, quick X-Ray so I can see what’s going on.”

Kix pulled across the X-Ray machine again and got a shot of the leg.

“It’s a clean break, so no surgery, just a set and a cast.”

“That’s a relief,” Obi-Wan breathed.

“Just need to get the bottom half of you off, Sir.”

Anakin was never thrilled at that prospect but it’s not like either of them hadn’t seen him in the compromising position before.

His left boot came off with ease, but the right would be tricky with the break. Kix decided his trauma shears should cut through the tough leather.

Anakin howled in pain as his leg was bothered, but the shears did their job and the boots were off.

“Anakin, do you always wear odd socks?” Obi-Wan grinned. Anakin simply glared at him.

“I don’t know, I think they are quite groovy,” Kix answered.

Kix carefully removed his socks and used the trauma shears to remove his battle leggings.

“So how many sets of robes have you gone through now, Anakin?”

“Can never find a set I like, Master,” was the sarcastic reply.

“Hate to interrupt but can we finish this now, this is going to be a long report.”

“Sorry Kix, let’s continue,” Obi-Wan replied apologetically.

“Thank you, right then, sorry general,” and with that came a swift move and a loud crack as the bone was set into place. Yet another howl was heard from the suffering young General.

“That’s it, we’re done,” Kix said with a sigh of relief as he started applying the cast. “No more pain for now Sir, I promise.”

“Thank the force,” said Obi-Wan, emotionally drained from watching his former Padawan suffer so much.

Anakin simply sighed in relief as he gradually started to feel unconsciousness pulling at him.

“Sleep now Anakin,” his Master said, draping a blanket over him, “I’ll be here when you wake up.”

Anakin accepted the sleep suggestion Obi-Wan was offering, “Thank you Master."

Chapter 6: And Breathe

Summary:

Anakin is recovering, Obi-Wan is relieved and Kix, well he has to write the report.

Notes:

Hello fellow Star Wars fans, again i have taken too long to update but here it is. I think this is the end for this one. Considering this is the first time writing, I've quite enjoyed it and hopefully will continue to write. Thanks for the support and Kudos along the way!!

Peace!

Chapter Text

Rex approached the medbay with concern floating in his mind, he knew his General was stable, but he needed to see it for himself. He stuck his head into Kix’s office, “How is he?” Kix looked up from his datapad. “We’ve patched up all his injuries and he will be fine, however it will be a long recovery process.” Rex breathed a sigh of relief. The one small positive from this situation (if there could even possibly be a positive) was that his padawan, Ahsoka wasn’t here to witness it this time. She had been there when her Master had almost been killed during the events of Maridun, and she was too young to be put through something like that again.

“And how are you doing Kix?”

“Oh another day in the life of the 501st medic for me,” he smiled at Rex, “Although this one was a bit hairy for my liking. He’s in the next room if you want to see him, General Kenobi too, he hasn’t left his side.

“Thanks buddy, I’ll catch you later.”

“Will do Rex, gotta get back to this report anyway,” and with that Kix turned back to his datapad to write up the report on the chaos.

____________________________________________________________

Obi-Wan was sat in meditation next to Anakin’s bed side where the young Jedi was sleeping, he was sending soothing and healing thoughts to his injured padawan, reflecting on how he could have lost him today, then subsequently releasing those thoughts to the Force as that wasn’t going to happen. He opened his eyes as he felt the presence of Anakin’s captain entering the room.

“Captain.”

“General, how is he?”

“He is recovering now, thank you for your help with him. How’s the hangar?” He asked with slight amusement.

“It’ll survive,” he returned the smile, “always happy to help Sir.”

He stood for a while with his eyes on his General just to make sure he was okay.

“You know it will be hard to keep him here Sir,” he said to Obi-Wan.

“Oh I know, Rex, that's why I’ll be keeping an eye on him for the foreseeable future, and I’m sure Kix will be too,” Obi-Wan replied with a smirk, “I also have no doubt you’ll join in with the role as well.”

“You can count on me Sir,”

With that, Rex left Obi-Wan to oversee his General’s sleeping form for the time being, knowing he was in good hands.

Once alone, Obi-Wan ran his hands through Anakin’s hair and returned to his meditation.

A few hours later a presence brought him out of his meditative state. He then realised it was Anakin returning to consciousness, he immediately opened his eyes and leaned over to see his apprentice's eyes hazily opening, trying to focus on his surroundings.

“Master?” Anakin groggily managed to say.

“I’m here dear one, how are you feeling?”

“Urrrghh, my head hurts.”

“I’m not surprised you've had quite the ordeal.”

As he regained more awareness, he realised that he hurt all over.

“Actually everything hurts, oh Force everything hurts Obi-Wan!” he started to get a bit hysterical, although considering the events of the day, Obi-Wan felt nothing but sympathy for him. As if he had some sixth sense, Kix came in, administering what Obi-Wan could only assume was more painkillers. “Good to see you awake Sir, this should help, and before you even think about it, you aren’t leaving here anytime soon and there will always be someone nearby to make sure that doesn’t happen.” Anakin just stared at him but eventually admitted defeat. Once Kix saw that the message had got through he smiled, “I know you like testing my skills Sir, but I’m sure there was an easier way you could’ve gone about doing it. How are you feeling?”

“I think I’m okay Kix, thank you for what you and all the others have done.”

“Not to worry General, luckily we all like you enough to help.”

Anakin smiled and Kix then left them to it.

It brought Obi-Wan great peace to see that Anakin was okay and was going to stay that way, at least for now. The recovery process was going to be long but he would be there every step of the way.

“Thank you Obi-Wan, what would I do without you,” Anakin said, eyes starting to close again.

“You are very welcome my dear, and I won’t be going anywhere for you to find that out.”

Anakin drifted back into sweet unconsciousness and Obi-Wan knew he could rest easy knowing that the person most important to him was going to be at his side for a while longer yet.
