Chapter 1: New start
Chapter Text
Light flittered in through the crack in the blinds, filling the slotted spaces as if it was invited in. Given a spot graced upon the hardwood flooring or stacked up cardboard boxes haphazardly stacked and tossed about. They were messily labeled but not even an attempt was made to be placed in their correct areas. The light outstretched its way as the sun raised further in the sky, taking it upon itself to brush up against the peacefully shut eyelids, blush pink hair ruffled as tan arms stretched and fingers gripped tight at his pillow. His body desperately clinging to the last strings of sleep slipping past the man's fingers. A soft groan filtered through pink lips before he gracelessly flopped himself out over his bed. Tan skin on full display, chiseled muscles showed themselves against the golden rays.
“It's too early!” Yuuji groaned out before he finally settled his way up, his hand reaching to rub the sleep out of his eyes. At least he attempted such a feat. That would prove to be futile. There would be a true kick in the ass to get out of bed by the way… of an actual kick in the ass.
“Will you shut up brat! I'm trying to sleep.” A gruff voice came from right behind Yuuji as his body flopped against the hardwood floor. He laid there with his back flat against the cool ground and his golden eyes staring at the ceiling for a moment more than he would like, dressed in only some blue pajama pants. Just getting his bearings about him.
“Sukuna do you really have to be this much of a jackass every morning?” Yuuji complained before he climbed his way to his feet. He decided his best retaliation was to take hold as much of that blanket Sukuna had cocooned himself in and yank as hard as he could. “Rise and shine!” Yuuji called with a playful laugh.
The mirror image of Yuuji was forced onto the floor soon enough. Sukuna grunted as his auburn, nearly red tinted, eyes narrowed up at him. Yuuji's golden eyes narrowed right back to the man. Not at all backing down from his brother. They always had a strange relationship. Bantering, arguing with even physical altercations then immediately after cleaning each other up and trying to make sure they were both okay. No matter how bad their fights got, how intense the arguments were they always had each other.
The two seemed like normal brothers. Though they were far from it, deep down they both knew that. It only made them closer. They weren't normal, they were monsters.
Sukuna growled at his brother, baring much too sharp teeth. It looked a little stupid honestly. But Yuuji gave the same response back in a challenge. Neither of these two were completely human, Yuuji was sure that it was on their moms side. But he never got exactly what she was from his grandfather. That old stubborn man was determined to give them a normal life. Which he did for most of it! He did his best until the boys made it to highschool and the man's health began to deteriorate quickly. The twins were by his side through it all, despite Sukuna's standoffish nature.
Yuuji had only seen his brother cry a handful of times. At his grandfather's funeral was one of them.
Soon enough the other pink haired man was on his feet, his stance offensive, ready to pounce onto the golden eyed twin. Yuuji snickered as he dodged the first attempt. The two were almost perfectly matched, the difference being Sukuna had tattoos nearly everywhere, except his face. Sukuna normally also gelled his hair back as another district difference between the pair. If they were to both wear contacts and long sleeves there would be no way to tell them apart.
They moved about the apartment, in a dance of offensive attacks from Sukuna and defensive dodges and blocks from Yuuji. Blowing off the extra steam even this early in the morning seemed to be quite common between the two. It would only be a matter of time before one of the two would slip up and the other would take advantage. This time Yuuji would take the victory, he swiped his ankle under Sukuna's, he laughed louder as the angrier twin fell hard and fast.
“Come on, we can't spar all morning, Kuna. Do you want me to make eggs or pancakes for breakfast?” Yuuji asked as he oh so casually slipped his way into their brand new kitchen. It had been quite a huge change really, completely uprooting their lives after Yuuji dropped out of his college classes and Sukuna decided to finish off the rest of his schooling after his community college start. But lucky for both of them they had found pretty decent jobs in their own path.
Yuuji decided from a young age that he wanted to help people, however he found out the hard way it was not easy to get into any sort of medical career. So he decided to try something a little more physical. A little more hands on. Taking up the harsh job as a firefighter worked out extremely well. Both himself and Sukuna had quite the odd relationship with fire and heat. Being extremely more fire resistant than any normal human being should be. Hell it used to be Sukuna's go to intimidation tactic in highschool. He would put out cigarettes on himself to prove how tough he was. Which was just one huge cheat since it never once hurt Yuuji when he tried it. Barely even a warmth to his skin.
“Neither, I want French Toast for that rude awakening.” Sukuna finally grunted as he had pulled himself off from the ground. Not even bothering to help Yuuji cook as he plopped down at the table and chair set up they barely got in last night before crashing on the air mattress at around one in the morning. Yuuji was glad he had, at the very least, picked up the essentials. Bread, eggs, milk, all that sort of stuff. He was sure he had cinnamon and some vanilla in there somewhere.
“Alright! Coming right up!” Yuuji chimed happily as he switched the stove on with a little flicker and placed the pan upon the fire to warm. He then got to whisking the eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon together in a bowl to soak the bread in.
“So, I heard you telling Fushiguro you would be meeting up with him today. When is that happening?” Sukuna started, more in an effort to make small talk. Possibly just because Megumi was involved. Yuuji was damn near convinced Sukuna had a crush on his best friend, yet he down right refused to say anything on the matter. It was almost fun to watch his stone-cold-hearted brother stare longingly at someone. He had it bad. But of course Megumi didn't notice and Yuuji was much too nice to embarrass his twin like that.
“We were going to go get lunch to celebrate the move. It has been a couple years since we hung out after all. I was surprised we would even be in the same city again. Let alone Kugisaki ending up here as well.” There was a lightness in the man's tone. A hopeful feeling in his chest. Finally being able to see his highschool pals again was enough to make all the driving, lugging furniture and even unpacking worth it. Yuuji moved his spatula about the pan once steam began to form at the bottom. He spread a nice layer of butter with the soft sizzle into the air before flopping a sopping wet mess of bread and egg goodness onto the skillet. It sang out another hiss as the smell of cinnamon took over the air.
“Well then I want to join you. I can't promise I'll stay the entire time but I can at least see them. That damn mutt has almost been avoiding me, I'm sure of it.” Sukuna spoke in a playful way, well playful for him. It sounded almost threatening if Yuuji didn't know him better. Black painted nails tapped impatiently on the wood of the table as his eyes stayed fixated on Yuuji's back. Waiting for his food like a starved beast.
“I'm sure they would both like to see you. Especially Megumi.” Yuuji teased the name lightly as he played the first stack of French toast. Getting the syrup to place it on the table as well before he went back to make his own. Most of their friend group had turned out to be not so human either. With Yuuji having many more human friends than Sukuna. Megumi was mostly human, he guessed. As human as a werewolf could be. Either way Yuuji completely adored the man. Kugisaki was the closest to Yuuji and Sukuna in a way. Being another form of demon, a succubus to be exact. But none of her charm ever seemed to work on either one of the boys.
Which was only more comical. She was a very pretty woman with a fiery personality. But it never struck Yuuji's interest. Megumi was also very pretty in his own right, long black lashes, piercing green eyes. But he also didn't catch Yuuji's eye in the same sense. He cared for both very deeply but had no real romantic or sexual interest in either. In fact he didn't have any interest in his friend group. It felt like such a losing battle, looking for that special someone while being some monster under it all. Eventually people would notice the strange quirks, eventually they will question and get upset. It was all so disheartening.
“Earth to Yuuji, come in air-headed punkass! Are you there!?” A gruff voice suddenly rang out from behind him. Yuuji nearly jumped out of his damn skin at first, before he realized his French Toast was starting to burn. He played the piece quickly and gave an apologetic smile to his brother.
“Sorry, I just got kinda lost in thought.” The bubbly twin stammered for an excuse. He turned swiftly on his heel as he made his way back to the table. Settling himself down with his food as they both started to dig in. Sukuna at least had the manners for both of them to be settled before he started to eat.
“Yeah no shit. What do you have wracking that little pea-brain of yours anyway?” Ever with the insults. But deep down they were both given in a more affectionate manner than either one was willing to admit. Yuuji poked at his French Toast with his fork, his cheek pressed firmly into his palm. He took a bite quickly and let the sweetness of the syrup grace his tongue.
“Nothing much, just that this is a whole new life for both of us. I kinda want to find someone here.” Yuuji admitted softly as he took another bite of his breakfast. It was at least better than the pancakes he proposed earlier. Sukuna could only give a scoff in response.
“It's not that hard Yuu, you look like me and I already know I'm hot as hell itself. You just need to get out there more.” Sukuna boasted as his chest puffed out and he sat up more. Yuuji couldn't stop the snicker that graced his throat. It was shortly cut off by the intent, murderous stare he was shot back with. “But if any fucker, and I mean anyone tries to toy with your feelings I will rip them to shreds. They will be wishing they never even laid eyes on you.”
Yuuji had always been the softer of the two, possibly not physically, but emotionally. He was kind to a fault, he wanted to see the good in every single person he could. Which would cause some of his past relationships to grow toxic with his overly trusting nature. Sukuna was the ruthless one, he would stop at nothing to right a wrong he believed had been acted against him. They were always called the evil and pure twins. One was a monster and the other was sweet as honey. Yuuji never believed that. There will always be some good in evil and, of course, some evil in good. Yuuji would go to the ends of the earth for the little bit of family he had left. Even though it was rare for Sukuna to need him in this way, Yuuji knew deep down that a monster was residing within him as well. Ready. Waiting.
“Kuna, I can handle myself, I promise. But if for some reason this imaginary new relationship turns south you will be the first one to know… after I give them a two day head start.” Yuuji muttered the last bit, but he gave that bright sunshine smile the man's way. Something he knew his twin wouldn't argue with. Deep down they both just want to see the other happy.
Soon enough their breakfast would be over and the pair would have to start getting ready for the day. Yuuji was lucky enough to push his start date for his new job out for about a week. While Sukuna had classes that morning and had to get himself out the door quickly. With the grumpier twin departing Yuuji decided to take a bit of time to clean the place. Put everything up where it goes.
Yuuji knew his brother had a job, though he refused to speak about it to his darling innocent brother. But that just showed that it was probably some shady dealings. Yuuji really didn't want to dwell on it, he adored the man but knew well they both had quite the advantage among a world of normal humans. Neither one of them were affected by drugs or any sort of poisons to the body. It made getting drunk damn near impossible with how fast it filtered through their system. They were both well over the strength of the average man, faster as well.
It was exactly why Yuuji took the job he did. He could help people with that strength, that speed. He could save lives! Part of him wished Sukuna saw their gifts as he did. But- despite it all, Yuuji wouldn't trade the man for anything. He may not be a good person, but they were still blood, flesh. Two halves of the same whole.
After hours of cleaning lunch would start to roll about. Making the pink haired man more and more excited by the minute. He practically bounced on his heel as he got showered, dressed and ready to meet up with people he hadn't seen in person since his senior year of highschool. Almost five years ago! Damn time sure did fly.
Clad in a bright yellow hoodie and black pants he made his way out of the apartment. One hand dug deep in his pockets while the other watched the map on his phone. It was only a five minute walk. Maybe a two minute run if he felt like it. But he didn't want to seem too odd around his new neighbors. Sukuna will probably beat him to that eventually anyway. But for now, they were just nobodies that lived next door. Yuuji kinda liked that idea, a simple life. Just another person that no one bat an eye at.
They were all meant to meet up at some small diner in the middle of the city. The place was bustling with crowds of people just trying to get by, heading all different directions at all times. Yuuji wasn't exactly used to this many smells, sights and sounds. It was a little overwhelming compared to his old much smaller town. Everyone practically knew everyone there. It was both a blessing and a curse. The man could feel his nose wrinkle slightly as he passed an alley. He had to focus on where he was going. Having heightened senses could hinder just as much as it could help someone. It was a wonder how Sukuna could handle being in all those clubs and bars, they all stink of booze and smoke. Suffocating was the best way to describe the feeling.
Yet it wouldn't take long for the scent of fresh pastries and comfort food to waft forth through the street. With another little spring in Yuuji's step he moved forward. Only to see his two companions already seated in the little outside area. With bright happy smiles thrown his way it wouldn't be long before he felt Kugisaki’s arms thrown around his wide shoulders. Megumi would follow suit into the embrace. Even with the muscle mass Yuuji had he was rather short. Almost the same height as Kugisaki and a few inches shorter than Megumi.
They all exchanged pleasantries of welcomes before the three were settled. Yuuji happily informed the two that Sukuna would be joining them as well eventually, so they had to make sure to save him a spot. Which Yuuji placed sneakily right next to Megumi’s side. Sukuna may get a little flustered but he will appreciate the thoughtful gesture in the long run Yuuji was sure.
“So how was the move? I'm sure your evil twin enjoyed the three hour long car ride to haul everything up here.” Kugisaki teased as she gently moved her hair back from behind her ear. There was always this stare she gave, one that was fierce. Never the type to take shit from anyone, that was what Yuuji admired about her.
“He almost blew a fuse! I drove nearly the entire way because if he wasn't napping he was ranting and raving about how long we had already been on the road.” Yuuji laughed at his own brother’s expense for the childish behavior. Big scary Sukuna seemed to get carsick pretty easily.
“That seems about right coming from him. Is the new place at least nice?” Kugisaki asked with a smile upon her lips. It was as if they had never left one another. As if the trio had not been apart all these years. They all looked older, grew into themselves a bit more. But they were still best friends. Yuuji could feel his heart swell as they engaged in more talk about their lives.
Megumi had become a highschool teacher, one for history of all things. While Kugisaki had started her job in carpentry, which was an odd choice but she said she enjoyed it and it paid the bills well. No matter how normal their lives sounded, how normally they all seemed, it was strange to have that underlying tone of difference. They played human but none of them were, not completely. Even with Kugisaki getting engaged soon to the woman of her dreams, Megumi’s cousin, it was just surreal. She could still bring most any human to their knees with a look. Megumi could rip people apart with his bare hands despite his soft, unassuming nature. It was jarring.
“Sukuna is still dropping by right?” Megumi finally piped up, completely tearing Yuuji away from his thoughts. The man smiled at him and nodded.
“That's what he said, you know he's pretty eager to see you.” Yuuji couldn't help the cheeky smile that spread across his features as he still glanced down at the menu. He hummed, glossing over the comment as he could see those bright green eyes go wide, glance away and cheeks start to burn. Cute. “So are we going to have some mid day drinks Kugisaki? I wouldn't mind splitting one with you.” Yuuji knew alcohol didn't do jack shit, but at least she wouldn't be drinking alone and sometimes the taste was nice.
“Oh hell yes we are! Also, Megumi, I don't see why you just can't ask him out already? How long have you been pining over that tattooed dickhead?” Kugisaki asked bluntly, much to Yuuji's amusement. His chin rested on his palm as his face tilted towards him.
“Yeah, it's painfully obvious you like him. Just go for it. The worst he can do is say no, if he tries anything else I will kick his ass.” Yuuji joked with a light laugh to his tone. Megumi’s pale face only started to grow even more red and flustered, reaching all the way to the tips of his ears as he pulled his shirt up to hide his face. That spiky mess of black hair made him look like a hedgehog, trying to use its quills to hide itself. “Besides, it's no secret that he likes you. Even if he won't outwardly say it. It's obvious, you have nothing to lose!”
As Yuuji explained this, all eyes were suddenly on him. There was no way they couldn't have seen all the signs, this shouldn't be a shock to them. Especially not Kugisaki. That was when he realized those eyes were not on him, but past him. The gaze fell over his shoulder with the expressions of shock and horror. Yuuji could feel all the color drain from his face, his shoulders hiked high. He didn't bother looking back.
“What were you saying, brat?” The voice held the pure essence of murderous intent. It dropped from his tongue like venom. Yuuji gave his friends a very coy, half hearted smile before he was scrambling out of his seat and jumping over the small gate to the seating area. Sukuna did not hesitate to give chase. “Get your ass back here so I can beat it!” Shit shit shit!
He didn't mean for Sukuna to hear him give away his deepest very well known secret! Yuuji ran as fast as his legs would carry him, weaving his way through crowds of people. Swaying this way and that with apologies flying out of his mouth every second. It was rude of him to bump into these people but couldn't they see he was going to die if he stopped!! With a frantic glance over his shoulder Yuuji didn't see his enraged counterpart. Relief spread over him before he chit face first into a solid body. Full force and head on. He was sure he was going to topple this stranger, but he just felt hands steady him.
“Whoa, slow down there. Are you alright?”
Chapter 2: New Toy
Chapter Text
“Whoa, slow down there. Are you alright?” Those words fell softly from patted pink lips. The man that spoke them was a good bit taller than Yuuji was with ghostly pale features hidden behind rounded sunglasses. Hair as white as snow, matching his soft skin. His unseen gaze entrapped the poor person he had addressed with such ease. Ensnaring them into a soft staring contest. The man would only give a gentle smile as he waited almost patiently for Yuuji to finally come back to earth. Which he did, though he was torn and drug from orbit by an all too familiar voice.
“Yuuji I swear to god when I get my hands on you-!” That voice being roared out among the sea of bodies. People were still mulling about too tight knit for Yuuji to make out exactly where Sukuna was, but the threat was heard loud and clear. With the tension in his shoulders returning Yuuji pulled back and Bowed his head politely to the downright gorgeous man.
“I'm very sorry for running into you but I really have to go.” Yuuji spoke with the attempt to move around the man, but before he could he felt a hand grasp over his forearm. It almost took nothing for this stranger to pull him back around. Which was… odd. Yuuji had never been handled like he was nothing more than a paperweight before. The grip was like an iron cage, suddenly he didn't feel this being was just some random pretty man. Yuuji narrowed his gaze just slightly but tried to keep the guise of a polite air about him. This man clicks his tongue before he spoke in an almost childish manner.
“You know, it's really rude to just run into someone like that. You could have really hurt me.” The man was playful with his tone, his grip didn't tighten anymore than it already had. “Here! I have an idea, how about we help each other out. I don't need someone making a mess of town and you obviously need a place to hide for a bit.”
Yuuji made another attempt to pull away, finding this whole thing a little ridiculous really. But, with the looming doom only getting closer with each passing second he didn't have much options. He wasn't sure what this guy was after, but he really didn't seem like he was all that angry. He didn't even seem annoyed. He was also right, Yuuji was probably going to end up running some poor fucker over, or Sukuna was. He was sure the latter was worse. So with an apprehensive look Yuuji nodded.
“Alright, fine. But can we just hurry Sukuna's gonna-” Yuuji didn't have any time to explain as this man was more than happily pulling him off the sidewalk and down some back alley. Yuuji almost had to trip over himself to follow. The man was fast and strong. He definitely was not human and in a way that made Yuuji feel oddly more relaxed. Though the reality of just how bad this could end didn't set in and probably wouldn't. This man seemed nice, he didn't set off any alarm bells even with his odd nature.
Though now that Yuuji thought about it he never got his name. Simply just allowed a stranger to whisk him away because he smiled just right and held a pretty face. But Yuuji was no kid, he was strong, more than well equipped to handle himself if anything was to go south. After a couple minutes of running they finally stopped, Yuuji was breathing a bit heavily and this man didn't even seem to break a sweat.
“I think we lost him.” The white haired figure finally stated before he let go. His hands made it to his hips as he turned better to the pink haired man. His smile was just as playful as when they started this. “Now, shouldn't you give your name to your valiant rescuer.” The man boasted, he sure seemed rather highly of himself. Yuuji pulled himself from his doubled over position, letting his head fly back as he took in a deep breath.
“I don't know if I would call you a rescuer, maybe closer to a kidnapper.” Yuuji shot back playfully despite his willingness to follow the strange being. “But how about if I give you my name I get yours too? Sound like a deal?” Yuuji spoke before he flashed a smile at the man, one that could light up any room. He wouldn't lie and say the other wasn't attractive. What was some harmless flirting? Even if the other was miles out of his league. “I'm Yuuji Itadori.” Yuuji exclaimed as he offered up his hand to the man.
This man pretended to be wounded by his words, his hand came up quickly to clench at his heart as he leaned back in an overly dramatic fashion to mimic that he was shot in the chest. Even the pout that played up upon his lips could be seen as attractive. This man had to be something akin to a male model with those looks! Yuuji really didn't have a snowball's chance in hell here. But maybe he could make a new friend.
“You wound me Yuuji, I'm just trying to help out some adorable citizen and I'm being accused of kidnapping?? How cruel.” The man finally regained his composure enough to wipe away a single fake tear from his eye. Before a firm hand reached out to take Yuuji's. This touch also paired with the compliment almost short circuited the pink haired man's brain. “My name is Satoru Gojo. It's nice to meet you. So, you going to be alright? Looks to me like you really pissed off the wrong person back there.” Satoru spoke as he jabbed a thumb behind himself.
“Oh he’ll get over it. He's my brother after all, I'm sure eventually he'll simmer down and give up.” Yuuji snickered, his eyes still wide and his smile on his features as he eyed this beautiful being before him. He really is stunning, though now that they had a moment of peace Yuuji tried his best to sense anything odd about this guy. He was strong, sure, but so was Toudou. Maybe there was a lot of muscle mass hidden under those loose sleeves and pants. He seemed pretty human all in all. But Yuuji wasn't so sure. He had a good sense about people, but not always if they were people. That was always Sukuna's area of expertise.
“Oh I see, just a little sibling rivalry.” Satoru hummed before he leaned down slightly closer to Yuuji, tapping his finger against his chin. “Well how about I give you my number next time you need a place to hide? Maybe we can go shack up in a nice coffee shop or out to dinner?” Satoru suggested as his shades slipped up his face. The eyes that peered back at Yuuji were almost too beautiful for words. Bright blue crystals that shined so perfectly in the light of day. It made Yuuji's heart leap from his chest and get caught in his throat. He started to stammer more as his face became flushed.
But it didn't seem that was the reaction Satoru was expecting. As his eyes blinked at the man, curious, confused. Maybe Yuuji was being too bashful? He didn't mean to be. He had never outwardly flirted with someone this attractive before. Especially not someone to suggest a dinner date with him all of a sudden. Yuuji rubbed his arm with a shy smile before he laughed.
“I can at least give you my number. I can't promise coffee or anything right now because I just moved in and everything's a mess. But how about we plan on it soon!” Yuuji suggested happily as he reached into his pocket to pull out his phone. Without thinking twice Yuuji pulled up his contacts and handed the device over so that Satoru could put in his number. However, that was the exact moment Yuuji felt eyes on the back of his skull. Before he knew it there was an arm right around his shoulder and a weight leaning into his side.
“There you are, you little shit! Think you can just hide your pres-” Sukuna snarled as he made an almost attempt at strangling his twin with that headlock he had him in. Yuuji's hands desperately clawed over his arm. But when his eyes landed on the pale man that held Yuuji's phone in his hand he paused. His body tensed and bristled.
“Kuna let go, I can't breathe!” Yuuji whined out as he tried to tap his arm to express this. But his brother didn't quite listen. His grip loosened but he didn't release Yuuji. Actually pulling him even closer, tighter against himself as he stared Satoru down. “Sukuna?” Yuuji looked between the two men, completely confused and lost. Both of them staring one another down with this intense air about them. Yuuji turned more to his brother and rested a hand on his shoulder, showing concern in his face.
“Well, looks like it's my cue to leave! Here you go Yuuji, don't forget to text me, alright cutie?” Satoru spoke as he lifted his glasses to give a cheeky wink. One hand moved down to ruffle the soft mess of pink hair before he waved the pair off. Sukuna growled the moment the man touched Yuuji. He had always been a bit protective but this was strange. It was like Sukuna knew this man.
“Piss off you blood sucking freak.” Sukuna hissed but wasn't given a second glance as the man made his way out of there. Yuuji just stared between the two, confused and curious. But before he could ask his wrist was taken up and tugged harshly, he walked quickly back to the Main Street with Sukuna grumbling the entire way. “That bastard didn't try anything right? Let me see your neck.” Sukuna asked suddenly as he placed both his hands on the sides of his brother's head and tilted it this way and that. “I'll fucking end him the next time he pulls that bullshit. I swear to god.”
“Whoa hey I'm fine Sukuna! I promise I am.” Yuuji said before he smiled at his brother, trying his best to reassure him that everything was okay. But it truly did not seem to help. As the man frowned his brow and narrowed his eyes. “We just talked for a bit. He seemed really nice, maybe a bit flirty but nice.” Yuuji commented as his smile only grew to the thought of a man like that interested in himself. Maybe he was looking into it too much and the guy was just being nice? That was entirely possible.
“You stay the hell away from Gojo. That man is a monster, I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to fuck you just so he can boost his own ego.” Sukuna growled as he started to walk again, more hastily now as his hand held tight to Yuuji's. Making his twin pout and huff.
“Come on, he can't be that bad! Besides, all he did was ask me out to coffee. It isn't like he tried to fuck me in some alley way.” Yuuji grumbled but he knew this conversation wasn't going anywhere. So it was dropped after just a bit more back and forth. They could finally continue their little lunch friend-date.
Satoru walked with a smile on his lips and his hands deep in his pockets. This little excursion out for some snacks really had taken a fortunate turn. How interesting that such a cute little creature would cross his path, let alone being so closely tied to one of the biggest pain in the ass he has ever dealt with. Not only that but he was almost too cute.
Those bright eyes and that even brighter smile had been burned into Satoru's brain already, let alone the way he so effortlessly trusted someone like that. How in the world could he be related to a vile beast like Sukuna was beyond Satoru. The moment he caught the cute half human’s scent he got interested. The fact that Yuuji really didn't have a care in the world about him, a bit too oblivious as to what Satoru was as well, is interesting.
Without missing a beat the vampiric monster would pull out his phone to call his long time friend and ex-coworker. Pressing it up to his ear it only rang twice before an annoyed, but proper, voice answered the other end of the line.
“What do you need, Satoru?”
“Nanami! There you are, I was worried you were avoiding me for some reason. I have a very important request.” Satoru started in a sing-song tone as he turned up the road. Heading back towards his office building. Being quite an old being meant he had been playing this game for a while. Not only had he been playing this game for a while but he knew exactly what strings to pull to puppet exactly what outcome he needed. Honestly, the social political scene of big corporations has become boring over the last few years.
“You know I'm not really in the mood to do your dirty work at the moment. Why don't you call Suguru to get into whatever mess you are fixing to make. Because I already know the damn tone you're using.” The man spoke very matter-of-factly, very monotone as well. Not that Satoru expected much else from him. He stepped his way into the large glass elevator as his heels clicked against the ground in thought.
“I would, but I don't think he can help me right now. Besides, I have to go to my favorite human for this one- Don't tell Shoco I said that. She may actually get upset with me about it.” Satoru hummed as he stepped out of the elevator and into his office, shutting and locking the door behind him before he threw himself back into his seat. His long legs propped up on his desk as his back pressed firmly against the plush seat. “I met someone interesting today.”
“A new toy? You know I don't approve of you playing mind games with people.” Nanami grumbled from the other end of the line before Satoru could snicker out.
“Funny enough I can't do that with this one. He wasn't affected. Sure he was attracted but he didn't even bat an eye when he saw mine. But he is too cute to just roam the streets like that.” Satoru spoke before he stretched his arms up and sighed, slightly pointed fangs made their appearance in a yawn. “He also seems to be related to Sukuna. His twin brother in fact. His name is Yuuji Itadori.”
“Sukuna has a brother?” There was a moment of hesitation, confusion laced heavy in that tone.
“That's what I said too! He sure does hide his personal life well.” Satoru smirked, it was easy to hear it in his tone. “But I don't think that pretty little brother of his knows what he's up to. He didn't recognize my name or my face. For such a monster this really is quite the weak point to exploit if we need to.” Satoru hummed as pale fingers gently toyed at his desk mat. He rested them against a pen to tap it over the corner. Thinking his next course of action carefully through. “I just want you to get any information you can on Yuuji, his social media, everything. I know Suguru is rather close in Sukuna's rankings, we might have to keep this from him for now.”
“What are you planning to do if he's not involved in Sukuna's dealings? Would he just be a bystander at that point?” Nanami actually sounded a bit weary. While he understood how much a commotion the half demon had been making in the crime scene, it didn't seem right to pull someone else in on all this when they didn't know better.
“Will you relax, it's not like I'm going to order a hit on Yuuji. But, I might try and get a bit closer. Have a social upper hand in this. He already gave me his number~.” Satoru sang happily as he laughed at his own minor victor.
The thing with demons and monsters living among humans was not all of them were peaceful. Not all of them had the option to just blend in and hide. Some needed to feed off of humans to survive, such as Satoru himself. The underground drug trade was massive and full of monsters also trading less savory things than just drugs. Human flesh, blood, and anything else one could think of was peddled.
Since there were quite a few creatures with life spans far preceding humans they normally had wealth for their many years in life, generations of families indebted to them as well. They had a strange hold on both the free market and the drug market. They could go and do as they please without much fuss from humans since most would hate to have their way of life disrupted.
Newer demons, like Sukuna, had made their presence known to the ones that have been here for centuries. Taking their own pieces into greedy hands. Sukuna had only started to become less a thorn in his side and more an issue in recent years. He had amassed a following far beyond what anyone could expect. He cut down anyone in his way and didn't seem to care for even his most loyal followers. He had no weakness, there was no one that could be taken to make him yield. Not until today.
The way he seemed to look at Satoru after grabbing his dear brother was that of pure anger. Rage. He wanted to rip Satoru apart right there for merely touching his head. Now this could also spiral into Yuuji never being left alone and Satoru never getting his chance to potentially woo him. But that probably won't happen too quickly with how spirited Yuuji himself was. He talked back and teased Satoru, he seemed strong in his own right. But his strength was far different than his brothers. He had a good heart. That wasn't a bad thing for humans at least. But when dealing with monsters- oh a bleeding heart can lead to a very swift and unpleasant death.
With a bit more pleasantries Satoru would hang up the phone. His head laid back against his seat as he smiled wider. Those pretty bright eyes just stared up at him like that. So sweetly, with a joy that was rare in any living being. That smile as well, it was pure sunshine. Maybe Yuuji wasn't a demon, he sure seemed to act more like an angel. Either way, he was already Satoru's. He just didn't know it yet.
Chapter 3: Arson
Chapter Text
Time would go on a bit more peacefully after those first few days after the move. Both Sukuna and Yuuji had quite a week unpacking and dragging in furniture all around the two bedroom apartment. They finally had each bedroom set up as well so neither of them had to use the stupid uncomfortable air mattress. It definitely was for the best since Yuuji was fixing to start waking up at the asscrack of dawn now. Sukuna definitely wouldn't enjoy Yuuji making too much noise that early in the morning.
With his first day of work finally starting he was elated. Practically bouncing on his heel with his almost infinite amount of stamina. He got dressed in his under-armor clothing. Knowing when he actually got there he would be given all the gear he needed. There was another excitement to all this, Toudou was the one that actually got him the job. He was a friend from highschool that graduated before Yuuji did and went on with his life. They had gotten surprisingly close. Almost like an older brother, as much as Sukuna took offense to that claim. Quite annoyed that anyone else would even think about taking his place in Yuuji's big bright eyes.
Though at the moment Sukuna was not the most pleased with Yuuji regardless of his false older brother appearing in his life again. Yuuji didn't completely listen to his brother's wishes and texted Satoru. He hadn't met up with the man yet, but he enjoyed casual little talks with him. With that thought, as Yuuji pulled on his shirt there was a flash on his phone. A little ping of a message. Speak of the devil.
Satoru <3: Good morning Yuuuuuuji!
Satoru <3: How is my favorite little Angel?
Yuuji couldn't help but snicker at the ridiculous way the man messaged him. He was childish and dramatic, but fun. Never taking himself or anything too seriously. It was a nice change of pace from most of his friend group. Especially his short tempered brother or moody best friend. They treated him almost as if he was made of glass at times. Weary of people getting too close. The overprotectiveness was sweet at times but could be overbearing. Aggravating him more than the pink haired man would like to admit. Yuuji had grown very used to this treatment, so much so that he knew how to get around it.
Yuuji: Hey Satoru! Good morning to you too!
Satoru <3: Oh you are awake. That's a surprise. :D
Satoru <3: Any plans for today?
Yuuji: yup.
Yuuji: I'm starting my new job today with a really close friend from highschool.
Yuuji: Wish me luck!
Satoru <3: Oh? You didn't tell me you were getting a new job.
Yuuji: Right! Sorry about that, I've been so busy this week.
Yuuji: I start as a firefighter today. Just hope you don't see me while I'm working ;p
Satoru <3: Damn.
Satoru <3: You are going to drive me to arson just to be saved by some hot firefighter.
Yuuji: SATORU!
Yuuji: NO!
Yuuji: Alright, I have to go.
Yuuji: No setting fires!
Satoru <3: Fiiiiiiine! You're so mean to me.
Satoru <3: D:
Yuji couldn't help the snicker as he finally pocketed his phone. He shook his head lightly before starting towards the door, his bag over his shoulder, his hand clenching at the strap tightly. If Yuuji didn't know better he would actually be worried about Satoru's threat of arson- Then again… yeah Yuuji may have to worry about that threat. Satoru seemed to be the type to do anything for attention.
That was fine, he would just be the one to keep Satoru in line, he supposed. The thought alone was comical. In their week of knowing one another they had talked about quite a bit. Sukuna had already confirmed to him that Satoru was not at all human. He was a full Vampire. Which was very cool to think about. Especially since he had never met a Vampire before, let alone a being that had been living waaaaay longer than any human should be.
In all reality Yuuji didn't know much about his own life span, he had never met anyone that was a half demon before. Kugisaki mentioned that her lifespan could reach hundreds of years if she kept feeding, it was entirely possible for Yuuji and Sukuna to be the same. But he supposed dwelling on that really didn't matter in the long run. He was going to live as long as he was going to live. No use worrying about that sort of thing. But seeing an immortal always brought about those sorts of thoughts. Mortality was a fickle subject after all. Yuuji started down the road soon enough as he waved the thoughts away. His hands shoved deep in his pockets. His shoulders rolled back as he breathed in the fresh cool spring air.
Today was going to be a good day.
The fire station was not too far from their apartment, really being in the middle of everything was a godsend since he didn't drive and Sukuna didn't own a car himself. Yuuji walked around from the front to barely peek into the open hanger. There were a bunch of large men and women standing around chatting for the morning. Their eyes hadn't met him yet as he stepped up closer. These people were all entirely human. He could tell by the scent alone. It was easier do to the fact a lot less people were out that morning to muddle his senses like the time he met Satoru.
“Ah there you are brother!” Toudou suddenly yelled before he made his way up to his much, much smaller friend. Toudou was a massive man. Both in height and muscle mass. Strong as an ox as well. But he was entirely human, hell he wasn't sure he knew Yuuji or Sukuna wasn't. Toudou’s massive hand gave a rough pat against his shoulder before his arms wrapped around him. “It's been a while, hasn't it??” He asked with a chuckle, his face large in a grin. The oh too familiar scar across one of his dark brown eyes.
“It feels like it's been forever.” Yuuji spoke in a chipper tone before he hugged Toudou just as tight. Practically pulling this mountain of a man off the ground, much to everyone's shock and awe. Yuuji was impossibly strong for someone his size, it always made jaws drop when they saw what he could pull off. With that little show, Yuuji finally placed his friend back onto the ground. “I actually did miss you Toudou.”
With that there was a rough, playful pat to Yuuji's back as he introduced him to the rest of the people that worked there. He happily introduced himself and made it a point to learn all their names. These people would rely on him just as he would for them. They would depend on his strength and strange abilities, that they didn't even know about, to save the innocent. Yuuji already swore that he would do his best.
The chief, Mr. Yaga, was a nice man. A bit rough around the edges but he definitely sought people out for the betterment of his crew. Yuuji was given a recommendation by Toudou, so he already had an in before he got there. Of course when the first alarm was set Yuuji was given simple tasks, just to feel out his abilities and what he could and couldn't do. All this trial would only last a couple of weeks.
As the weeks went by Yuuji had started quite the routine, waking up well before the sun so he could make his way to his firehouse. Sometimes, if he woke up early enough, he would grab something for his new friends. Mostly something simple like doughnuts or coffee. But everyone seemed to really appreciate the effort. That day was like any other as he wandered his way in with a hot cup of coffee in his right hand. While his left hand gripped right in his little drink carrier.
The team glanced up and waved him over. Yuuji happily made his way over and started to give out the cups of coffee to his new group of friends. Settling himself down at the table as they all waited for the next call.
“Good morning Yuuji!” One said happily as he slipped at his coffee. Yuuji happily greeted the man right back with a wave. “Did you hear what happened yesterday? It was apparently some huge mess. The police think there is a serial arsonist out on the run.” He spoke as he leaned back. Yuuji pouted softly as his brow creased.
“What? You can't be serious, that's awful. Hopefully they can find them after some investigations.” Briefly his mind fluttered to Satoru… he would have to call him and tease him over this. He really doubted it was the pale man but he would get a kick out of it still. As stupid as that was.
“Well, at least they think it's arson. No matter what, the fires always start in the bedrooms.” Another chimed in as Yuuji looked over to her. His eyes still held annoyance. “There have even been a few deaths because of this.” This only got more troubling.
“Do you think it's on purpose?” Yuuji muttered wearily. But all they could do was shrug. The fires alway burn everything to the ground, sometimes it's an empty building while others it's not. There didn't seem to be any sort of pattern on a map. Nor is it ever scheduled. By what Yuuji had learned this was possibly multiple people with how some were only minutes from one another despite being miles apart. All of this was extremely troubling, it caused their forces to be spread pretty thin. Less people were likely to be saved the more this goes on.
While mulling over the whole situation as he nursed his coffee there was the loud buzz from above their heads as the alarm flashed and screamed. They all started to stand and rush down towards the fire trucks and file themselves in. Their sirens blared like banshees as they rushed down the streets. The alarm rang through the quiet, still waking neighborhoods all around them. Yuuji almost felt bad for all the apartments and homes they passed on their way to the building, probably waking up that entire side of the city.
Once the truck stopped they were met with a small farm home nearly engulfed in flames, Yuuji was one of the first to run out to the police officers that were outside. Neighbors stood about outside as well, lingering in their front yards donning expressions riddled with worry as they crowded about. Muttering about the family that lived there. Good people, Yuuji could only assume. They had so many people out there waiting for the family to emerge from the flames.
After getting the rest of his gear on, Yuuji went in with Toudou. The flames raged from out of glass windows, they had crept to the upper floor slowly down from the lower level. The foundation of the second floor had already been heavily devastated, going up the stairs could end with them falling through the weaker ceiling. Yuuji motioned for Toudou to look around the first floor as he made it at least half way up the steps. He called out to hopefully get someone, anyone to answer him. The smell of flame and soot burnt his nose, made his eyes water a bit.
Yet the heat of the flames was nothing more than a slight annoyance on his skin. As if someone turned the the heat in his apartment just slightly too high. Breathing didn't seem too hard either. It was strange to finally feel it all, understand that this wasn't normal. That Toudou was ducking to keep himself lower of the smoke, while Yuuji could step almost directly through the flame. He was built for this. He was sure that even if he wasn't wearing the suit none of this would harm him.
“Help!” A voice suddenly called just up the steps. It was loud and desperate. Gasps and cough racked through smoke laden lungs. Yuuji's eyes widened and without thinking he started up the steps. Someone was still alive! There was someone alive up here.
“Yuuji wait it's not safe, we need to get back up.” Toudou suddenly called as Yuuji made it to the top step. He looked down through his mask, through the stairwell, at his friend. The way the large figure looked there, yet his size made him helpless. He would possibly break the weakened foundation if he stepped up too far.
“Get the others to ready the net encase I can't get back down the steps. Don't worry Toudou, I'll be fine!” Yuuji said as he gave a thumbs up before rounding the landing to the stairs, starting down the hall, calling out as the flames only got higher and hotter. He was desperate to find anyone, see anyone through the thick bellowing of black smoke. “Hello?? If you can, call out! Stay away from the doors!” Yuuji called to the voice, hoping to find them.
Hours Prior:
Sukuna settled back into a cushioned seat at his desk of a rather large office complex. His fingertips pressed against one another, his eyes peered ever so slightly over the edge, narrowed as his lips pulled into the smallest sneer. They twitched and it looked as though he may growl out some words before he took a breath through his nose, his head tilted back gently against the plush seat. His wine colored eyes shut softly, he finally seemed to gain his bearings on his emotions.
“What do you mean the police are catching on?” Sukuna suddenly asked, his tone almost too calm. Almost too still. His eyes opened into a narrowed glare on his second in command. The tanned skin man stood with long black hair that flowed down his back. His smile was cold as soft brown eyes watched his boss intently.
“I mean exactly what I said. They are suspecting foul play. We need a way to distract them from all this. Not that I'm questioning your actions, sir.” Suguru spoke though his tone was just as calm as Sukuna's. Annoyingly so. “I understand burning the evidence has done well for us, but I think that tactic has been played out at this point.”
“I see… well we can't allow our detractors to simply get away with it all. I only have one more place I want to see burnt into the dirt anyway. It's an eyesore, as is the family that lives there.” Sukuna grumbled as he leaned himsef forwards with his elbows propped against the dark cheey wolf of his desk, his eyes cast up to the ceiling in thought. “You are known to that side of town right? Close to that bastard to the other annoying humans?”
“In a way, yes. We have been seen together when he worked under you. To all his little neighbors I am a very close family friend.” Suguru spoke in thought as he gently rubbed at his own chin. “Why do you ask?”
“You aren't affected by fire, being a demon. If you are there when they burn it will look more like a freak accident. Not only that but it's a nice excuse for you to get close to them before they finally die. Fucking mutts should have never crossed me.” Sukuna snarled as his sharpened teeth clenched and his eyes narrowed. “I want you to make sure they suffer before you burn them alive. This time make sure it starts in the kitchen. The stove being left on or some shit. I don't really care.” Sukuna waved his hand flippantly at the last words that escape his mouth.
“I see, you don't want anything left of their home either? Why is that?” Suguru asked curiously. “This isn't like the normal humans you burn on a whim.”
“You're right, it's not. They decided to try to dig up information on me. I don't know what all they have in that house but I don't need anyone else getting their hands on it. I have a life to protect after all. These dogs got a little too jealous of my position so they no longer deserve their lives. I would do it myself, but I can't be connected to the burnings.” Sukuna grumbled before he let out a soft, exasperated sigh, it was a bit of a pain that Yuuji was now a firefighter. But it was fine, he would stop the arson after this one last go. He couldn't let him see the carnage Sukuna had caused. Yuuji may never forgive him for such an act. But he was protecting them. Protecting both of them.
“In here! Please hurry!” Suguru yelled in a false panic. He gave some more convincing dry coughs to play up his part. Making sure to stay in one of the guest rooms, wait until help had arrived before he said anything at all. It was a simple enough task. Suguru didn't seem to care about the wrong doings he had committed under his boss's name. These men were annoying human loving trash. They had gotten a bit too cocky around Sukuna, believing him to be weak.
This was all on their heads at this point. Before too long a man stormed through the door, a shield over his face as he rushed through the flames and smoke. His arms wrapped around Suguru quickly as he looked over his tattered clothing. Long pajama bottoms that had been blackened at the hem by flame and soot. His shirt had a few burn holes from embers.Suguru was trying to play the part of someone just staying with close friends. A poor victim of a tragedy.
“Hey stay down okay? We don't need you to breathe in the smoke.” The man spoke before his shield went up, for a moment Suguru was sure he was seeing thingst. Sukuna's face was stared back at him. Though the smile on his lips was like nothing he had ever seen before. As was the golden tint to his bright eyes. “Do you think you can stand? I'm going to get you out of here.” Yuuji spoke with that same reassuring grin. He pulled his helmet back down before helping Suguru to his feet. His arm braced his back and hip to keep him steady.
“I'm fine, I-I mean I can stand. Thank you, sir.” The stammering was real now. Suguru wished he was warned about Sukuna's twin being there. He was the only one of his men to know of Yuuji. It was meant to be a secret, knowing nothing about the goings on behind the scene. But not even Suguru was allowed to meet the man.
“What's your name?” Yuuji asked, trying to make sure the man had at least some wits about him. It was also a way to reassure him in such a stressful situation. “My name is Yuuji.” He gave his own name to help ease the tension. He kept his tone light and friendly even with the situation before then.
“Suguru Getou.” The black haired man spoke simply as he leaned heavily on Yuuji's shoulder, those deep brown eyes were gazing over him more and more, he couldn't help himself. Knowing who this man was made everything feel different. He tried to keep up the scared act. He had to play up the victim of course. That was the whole reason he was here. His hand wrapped tighter around Yuuji's side, gripping tighter at his fire licked at his clothing.
“Alright Suguru, we are going to check the stairs and if that won't work we may have to jump. Don't worry though. We’ll be okay.” Yuuji gave more reassuring words, it held deep care. It was genuine and careful. This was like night and day from dealing with his own boss. He had seen Sukuna wade through fire himself, so all that gear had to be just for show if they had the same abilities. He played human well, better than Sukuna did.
Yuuji's eyes held determination through the reflection of the mask. Their way through the now deteriorating top floor was met a deep cracking sound above their heads. Some of the support beams had come loose, tumbling down in a blade. Yuuji dove both of them into the hardened floor, narrowly missing being crushed by the large hunks of wood. He held Suguru close and tight to himself, his smaller body loomed over the larger as a shield. Using himself to keep him this stranger safe so selflessly, he didn't even have to think twice. What a little fool. The smoke and fire must completely be muting his senses. He can't even tell Suguru is a demon. That none of this was at risk of harming him. Even still the demon could not stop his own arm from bracing the other to pull him in tight as well.
“Fuck.” Yuuji cursed under his breath before clicking the wakataki. “Is the net ready?” He called out. There was static for a moment before a woman confirmed they were ready. Yuuji started to guide them to the top windows and haul the pair up before breaking his way through the rest of the shattered glass. Gently, he shoved Suguru up to the windowpane. “Alright, you are really going to have to trust me. See that down there, they will catch you.” Yuuji urged the man to look down.
The rest of the team stood, their gloves fingers held tight to a sheet of white with a red bullseye in the middle. Everyone was staring up to the pair, their legs braced under them at the ready. Suguru couldn't help but think how a fall wouldn't kill him if he missed, but it would be extremely painful. A hand soothed over his back in soft circles before Yuuji spoke again.
“Hey, I know it's scary, but it will be fine.” Suguru could feel the smile through the mask. “Just trust me, Suguru.” Yuuji spoke softly, yet his words were deceptive. As that soothing hand was the one to shove Suguru harshly the rest of the way through the window. His body felt weightless as the wind rushed past his now dropping form, confusion crossed his features. That was Sukuna's brother. His twin brother that spoke with a soft tone and reassuring words. One that took care to help ease his assumed fear and worry before doing what he had to do. He was a strange one… Suguru already decided he wanted to know more.
Chapter 4: Just a Taste
Chapter Text
It had officially been a whole month at Yuuji’s new job, a month and a week at his new home. He was settling into this nice little life very well. Sure, he may risk serious injury almost day to day, but at least he was helping people! The feeling of being needed, like one is making a difference is almost priceless. It rooted complete joy in Yuuji. He was changing lives, saving them too. What more could someone ask for?
With this little milestone Satoru had offered a celebration. He took quickly to inviting Yuuji out for drinks at some fancy place in the middle of the city. At least that was the impression he got by the way Satoru explained it. He had practically insisted on the event, not really giving Yuuji any room to turn him down even if he wanted to. While Yuuji was overly excited about the little outting, he didn't dare mention it to his brother.
He could already hear the frustrated growls and rants over him going out with the vampire. Sukuna could have quite the temper to him, it was best not to stoke the flames of his rage. While Yuuji was a horrible liar, he could at least just not say anything at all. When the day of their outing came, he made it home from the gym, hopeful for an attempt to get all cleaned up and out the door. There was hope he could actually avoid his brother completely in this! As he cracked the front door open slowly he heard nothing from inside. It seemed like he was in the clear. With a breath of relief as shoulders slumped forward, he started towards their shared bathroom. Just a quick shower and he would be on his way.
As Yuuji passed the kitchen on his way out, after showering and changing, he could see a note left on the table, pressed so perfectly in the middle. Curiosity got the better of the pink haired man, so he stopped his path towards freedom to take up the note in his fingers. It was a simple piece of notebook paper, the words were scribbled in a handwriting Yuuji knew well at this point.
“ Had something come up last minute, will be out the rest of the night.
Sukuna”
Well that gave absolutely no information at all. Yuuji rolled his eyes to the vague message placed in front of him. He might as well have texted Yuuji the same shit. Whatever. Not like that mattered, if anything it was good for him! Who knows how late he would be out. He really didn't feel like sneaking back in at one in the damn morning to a very pissed off Sukuna if he were to wake him.
He could feel the butterflies in his stomach already starting to flutter, Satoru was attractive and nice. Of course he was nice to Yuuji at least. Who knows what Satoru may actually be like when he's all alone, but that was part of the fun. He wanted to get to know the strange man with white hair and breathtaking eyes. The one that seemed to already have a thing for Yuuji of all people. Even if this did only turn into a one night stand it would still be a damn good experience right?
Yuuji made sure to dress in something casual, something nice enough that didn't scream he was desperate for his host's attention. Yuuji really did have it bad for Satoru already, he just didn't need to embarrass himself more than he was already going to. With some fashionably ripped up jeans and a nice loose fit t-shirt he was out the door once again.
Satoru had insisted on picking Yuuji up from his place; he had stated he wanted to keep the place they were heading to a surprise. So of course the pink haired man would have no issue sending his new friend his address. Unbeknownst to Yuuji, he had fallen right into Satoru's little trap. Having Sukuna's address was a huge leg up on the monster. Information that no one in Sukuna's seedy line of work should ever know. But now Satoru had at his disposal. So easily did this man pull the strings to get exactly what he wanted.
While Yuuji waited outside his complex as asked he couldn't help but wonder what was planned for them. All he knew was that this place was somewhere fancy and special. But why it was so special was completely hidden from him. It just made everything more exciting with the mystery that surrounded this whole event. What exactly was the plan for that night? Where were they going? Did this count as a date-? Now that last thought really got to Yuuji. Was this a date?
There was warmth that started to creep up the back of Yuuji's neck and spread well over his cheeks at the thought alone. Was he actually going on a date with Satoru Gojo? His fingers fiddled anxiously at his own shirt as he glanced back to where his apartment was a few buildings over, maybe he should have dressed in something nicer? Did he have time to change?
Just as that thought graced the pink haired man's mind a car pulled up in front of him. Yuuji couldn't help but stare at the all black vehicle, his mind only registering that it had pulled up to the back seat in front of Yuuji not the front. How odd. This was until Satoru himself stepped out from around the car with that almost familiar soft smile on his face. It tugged at his lips and while it seemed gentle there was something near mischievous hidden right under the surface.
Then it hit Yuuji. Satoru wasn't driving the car either. He had someone to drive them around on this overly fancy possible date. Golden eyes looked over the pale man. At the clothes he had on. It was a simple loose pale blue button up paired with some black slacks. Not exactly as casual as what Yuuji had chosen to wear, yeah he was going to be extremely under dressed for this event. It only made him more nervous as he stared up to the man that stepped around the car. But he chose to hide all of that with a bright smile.
“Hey Satoru! It's been a while huh?” Yuuji spoke in a cheery tone, gaining a bit of a snicker from the man before him. His unseen gaze going up and down the figure before him. He had almost forgotten how adorable those pretty golden eyes were in person.
“Only about a month, you're just as cute as ever I see.” Satoru was quick to lay on the flirtations, his brow slightly raised to the way Yuuji still held onto the bottom of that baggy shirt. His mind couldn't help but wander into the image of Yuuji in only the shirt. What a sight that would be. But Yuuji's innocence was almost astonishing the way he chuckled and spoke.
“Speak for yourself. You look as pretty as you always do. It's not fair.” Yuuji teased him just slightly before he stepped up and did something Satoru had not planned on. Arms embraced him without warning or care. They were so warm, so gentle and soft with the way they looped around his chest. With Satoru being so much taller than Yuuji his chin rested comfortably into that feather soft mess of unturly pink hair. Nosing it to take in a sweet, almost Smokey scent. Pleasant and strong, something he could get used to almost too quickly. Their chest pressed together for a moment longer, a moment too short in Satoru's opinion. Yuuji was the one to pull back and unlatch himself from the hold, his grin never faded. “Sorry, was that too much?”
“No, no no! Not at all Yuuji.” Satoru spoke before his arms ensnared the other quickly. Without warning Yuuji was off his feet, with Satoru's cheek pressed against his hair as he held him in a much tighter, more playful embrace. It made the pink haired man laugh at how ridiculous the action was, but he threw his arms around the white haired man even still. How could Sukuna's own brother be this sweet and adorable, just the way he latched himself onto Satoru, knowing well what he was. Without a care in the world. He was a perfect ray of sunshine.
After a bit, and a little reluctantly, Satoru set the other down. Allowing his feet to grace the ground. Those pale fingers didn't leave Yuuji's waist as he opened the car door to usher him into it. Satoru would slip in soon after, with a small hand motion to the driver and they were off again. Yuuji couldn't help the way he looked around the back of the luxury interior of the car. His eyes were a little wide before they settled on Satoru. He really had gone all out, it only made him feel more self conscious about his choice of clothing.
“We aren't going out to some fine dining place right? Because I don't want to show up looking like a mess somewhere like that. I also don't want you to waste your money either.” Yuuji said as he settled himself back against the plush seat of the car. Satoru glanced over at him from under those familiar black sunglasses, his arms stretched out behind the seat, slightly over Yuuji's shoulder and his long legs crossed over one another.
“Hm? Oh, no I didn't plan something massive for this.” Satoru laughed at the notion despite their ride there. “But it is special in the sense it's a demon's only sort of place. I just thought it would be fun since you had never been.” Yuuji's eyes widened to the notion. He had heard about establishments meant only for the supernatural, they were hidden in plain sight, but it was nearly impossible to get in without knowing someone or some sort of code.
“But… I'm not- I mean I'm only half.” Yuuji muttered, weary of this whole notion. Especially as his eyes flicked to the driver. How casually Satoru spoke about this around people. Sukuna had also warned him that he wouldn't enjoy those sorts of places, they were full of monsters. It was always what he was told when other supernatural beings were involved, that they could smell the human side of them. That they knew that Yuuji didn't belong. A way to keep his brother from actually exploring the less favorable side of reality. The side Sukuna worked in primarily.
“Why does that matter? You are still not completely human, meaning you are welcomed wherever demons are. But if it makes you uncomfortable at any point we can always leave and get drinks at a normal bar. They just don't usually have what I want.” Satoru waved off all his concerns quickly. Seemingly very confident in his claims. Those soft, dazzling blue gems Satoru called eyes gave a glance from the sides of his sunglasses, white lashes fluttered just slightly as a mischievous smile crossed his features. “You trust me not to steer you wrong, right Yuuji?”
With that bright as sunshine smile and those eyes so wide the man nodded. Of course he trusted Satoru, he had been nothing but nice. Sukuna may have some not so pleasant words about the man but he had never been the best judge of character. Especially not when they were young. The people Sukuna would surround himself with always made Yuuji worry. He would make damn sure Sukuna knew he could come to him if anything happened. Yuuji would protect him. This was possibly another reason Yuuji had never explored the less human way of life. Megumi and Kugisaki were never big into that scene either, so he never had to worry about the pressure of falling into it.
Maybe it was the fear of losing his humanity that always seemed to steer him back to the safe comfort of normal bars and simple dinners. What was he under all his selfless nature and moral compass? What happens if that were to be stripped away to leave him bare and raw? Yuuji wasn't sure he wanted to find out. Creatures like Satoru, however, needed that sort of thing. Even Yuuji knew that. Satoru had to eat and his dining habits would never sit well with the general public. Places that served creatures like him were essential to keeping a peaceful society.
Their car would stop out front of what looked to be a rather nice club, fancy as hell compared to the hole-in-the-wall places Yuuji would go to with Kugisaki. There was a massive line and a bouncer outside that looked nearly as big, or even larger than Toudou. His arms crossed tightly against his chest as he gave an intense stare at their car. Narrowed gaze with a clenched jaw reflected his annoyance at someone being dropped off right in front, ahead of the line he was currently dealing with. How important this jackass must think they are to skip ahead like that, the audacity.
Yuuji would step out first since he was on the sidewalk side, getting the brunt of that glare. The man couldn't help the small apologetic smile he gave back, not meaning to step on any toes while he was here. He tried his best to be polite in most situations. The bouncer gruffed out a short
“Back of the line, kid.” Which was rude, Yuuji was a grown adult! Though all that annoyance and grit left the man as Satoru stepped out from the other side of his car. Brushing off the wrinkles from his shirt he glanced over, his eyes never left the bouncer as he stepped up beside Yuuji, his elbow resting on the pink haired man's shoulder as his other hand dove into the pocket of his slacks.
“The back of the line? After I made reservations and everything? That's a rude way to treat a valued customer.” Satoru pointed out but his tone held a mocking air, maybe it was to hide his annoyance? Who knows. Yuuji blinked, you could make reservations at the club? He supposed you could for birthday parties and things. It just seemed odd. Then again, this place seemed a little uptight, as if you had to know people to get in.
“Mr. Gojo… I'm sorry I didn't know he was with you.” The man spoke, taken aback by Satoru's presence. He gave a nervous, apologetic smile towards Yuuji before moving the red rope that spectated them from inside. “I'm sorry for the inconvenience.”
Yuuji wanted to tell the man it was fine, granted he was rude but how could he know they already had a spot inside? Satoru simply waved it off as his hand pressed against the small of Yuuji's back. Encouraging him to enter the darkened space first. The lights were dim, the main bar was massive with an assortment of drinks laid out behind two or three different bartenders. There were waitresses and waiters bringing drinks to well dressed individuals that lounged about. Most of them had a similar way about them as Satoru did. A bit too perfect, their motions too fluid and concise. None of the floundering around as mortals did. Was this just a club of Vampires? Or one that most of them flocked to at the very least.
Either way Yuuji definitely gained eyes on him. He could feel them, some gave quick glances while others stared blatantly. Almost gawking to his presence alone. Yuuji did not get a welcoming feeling from those eyes. Maybe it was just the mortal side of him, instinct telling him he was surrounded by predators, hungry and waiting. As if sensing his tension Satoru placed his hand around Yuuji's shoulder, his weight pressed against his left side. It felt comforting in an odd way Yuuji couldn't describe. Grounding he supposed.
“Remember, if you want to leave we can. I didn't expect the place to be so lively already.” Satoru suggested softly as his fingers gripped tightly onto Yuuji's shoulder, a reassuring gesture. But he had already come this far. There was a part of him that was just begging to explore a new side of life. One that he had buried for so long. This was somewhere he was meant to be, he belonged here just as much as any other bar. Yuuji shook his head to the question.
“It's fine! I'm just not used to this sort of environment I guess.” Yuuji muttered softly to himself more than Satoru. Yet the soothing feeling of soft fingers gliding against his arm, Satoru's thumb gently caressing the outside of his bucept. It almost made Yuuji melt. More than it probably should.
“Don't worry, it won't be as crowded. I made sure to get us a room away from the main seating area. I didn't want to overwhelm you your first night out of course. I've heard it can be quite the culture shock if you aren't used to it.” Satoru hummed as they crossed through the bar, going toward the back with a red velvet curtain separating them from the others. There were many rooms back there. Most set up with lavished seating and a round table in the middle. The color scheme was of deep crimson with black and gold accents. An odd choice in Yuuji's mind. Maybe it was darkly lit due to the types of guests that most visited.
Reguardless of the decor choices the place was lavish and nice. Nicer than anywhere Yuuji had gone for drinks. For a moment he wondered is Satoru was just showing off. That was a bit of an annoying thought. That he could just win Yuuji over with a nice night out. He would much rather go somewhere cheap and have a good time over a fancy and borning date. Yet Yuuji still wasn't even sure this was a date! Satoru had been touchy sure, but Yuuji was like that with most people as well. It was probably just the type of person he was.
Yuuji happily sat against the cushioned seat. Satoru's followed quickly after him. Sitting almost right against Yuuji as he seemed to test the waters with exactly what he could get away with. Yuuji could feel himself relax further as they were now alone, no more eyes boring into his soul. Or the eerie feeling of danger that came with those stares. It crept down his skin like pin-pricks of anxiety that crawled over him like spider’s legs.
“So what do you like to drink? Can you even get drunk or do you process it too quickly like a full demon?” Satoru asked curiously as he looked over the small drink menu on the table. He would tilt it to Yuuji so that he could glance over the selection as well.
“Sadly I'm stuck being eternally sober, I can't even smoke. Trust me, my friend Kugisaki was devistated by that little fact.” Yuuji laughed as he looked over the drinks still. Though something had caught his eye. There was a section of wine, they all had little astrics by them. Specialty, private selection, and so on in the discription. Normally this wouldn't be too eye catching, it was the fact all of this was on its own hidden page folded under another. Satoru got to it extremely quickly. No secret to him apparently.
“Damn that actually sounds like hell, no pun intended. Well you can pick out anything that catches your eye. We can get some snacks as well. But just so you know, there are a few raw snacks. So don't be surprised with that being offered.” Satoru warned, quickly selecting his drink mentally as his pale finger tapped some spiced red wine. However Yuuji was a little curious by that last statement. This place was so alien to him, completely foreign.
“Like raw meat? I guess that isn't too strange. Kinda like sushi in a way.” Yuuji shrugged all this off. Maybe he could get used to not having to be as weary about being too out of place around people. His nose scrunch up at someone before they even walk in, his eyes tracking people a bit too closely. Megumi had pointed that out a few times, like he was eyeing prey. It was a rediculous notion of course. Most of the time Yuuji didn't even notice he does it! “So do you come to this place a lot? The guy up front seemed to know who you were.”
“Every so often, it's a bit more relaxed than other places like this. I guess creatures like us can go a bit too hard sometimes.” Satoru shrugged, though internally he was snickering. Yuuji really had no clue who he was. There was no way Sukuna had given him any hint of his work or the people he was involved with. How interesting. That was pared with the way Yuuji practically leaned into him as he looked over the menu for his drink. Satoru couldn't helphis gaze drag over the pink haired man's face. His plush lips pushed out in contemplation, head tilted to the side, his neck on display with that t-shirt he donned. It made Satoru's mouth dry. Fuck, no, it was not that sort of outing.
“Well I can see why you like the place. Even if some of the others that go here are kinda rude.” Yuuji pointed out before deciding on his own drink. A woman would come by soon enough to get their order. Her eyes would turn to Satoru with a knowing look. It was strange, but if Satoru went here often of course they would know exactly what he ordered.
Without missing a beat they were brought their drinks, Yuuji got a simple soda since there was no point in getting alcohol if he wasn't sharing it with Kugisaki. Satoru, however, got one of those fancy hidden wines. The bottle in the middle of the table and his glass off to the side. It smelt… strange. Softer, with different sort of spices added to the mix, pungent and floral. It smelt nice. But Yuuji felt there was something odd about it. He was weary to state his interest out loud, if this was some sort of demon centered items he wouldn't know how to feel. Giving in to instinct was normally a good thing in his job, but here- in a place where the instinct is not pure survival base. It may only raise more questions within him. Questions Yuuji didn't want to think about.
But his staring was a bit too obvious. Yuuji was never good at hiding his emotions, everyone seemed to be able to read him like an open book. Satoru had already started sipping his strange fancy wine. His lips gently caressed the glass cup, taking in a mouthful of the drink before pulling it away.
“What's with that look? Does it smell too strong?” Satoru asked curiously, that was a strange way to put it. Yuuji quickly glanced away as he suddenly realized he was staring a little bit too intently.
“Oh uh, sort of? It smells nice, I guess I was curious.” Yuuji felt embarrassed to say the least. Fuck what if that was something strang? What did normal demons even eat? Raw meat like mentioned before? Satoru was a Vampire, so maybe that was… blood? Would it be animal blood? It had to be. Sure Yuuji liked his meat super rare but that didn't mean he would drink animal blood too! He had never even tried raw meat- thought about it a few times but never did it.
“Do you want to try it Yuuji? You could have just asked.” Satoru spoke as if all this was normal. That Yuuji was acting ridiculous. He gave a playful little smile. “But too bad we don't have another glass-” Satoru said this as if that was the reason Yuuji couldn't try the drink. Yuuji rolled his eyes, he supposed it made sense Satoru didn't want to share a cup with him.
“I can ask for one then. I wasn't implying we share a glass.” Yuuji snickered to give his own playfulness back. However, before Yuuji could get up his chin was trapped in pale fingers. His heart dropped into his stomach at the touch. His breath trapped in his throat as those blue eyes stared right above his sunglasses. Yuuji didn't bother leaning away or pulling back, he was frozen in place. The pads of those fingers gently tilted Yuuji's head up, pressed right under his chin. His thumb hooked over his chin to gently stroke at his bottom lip. Prying it open just gently enough. “Satoru…?”
The name barely left his mouth before Satoru's free hand moved the glass of red liquid against Yuuji's lips. He tilted it so gently that the almost room temperature drink graced his waiting lips. It slipped past them without any fight, flowing over his tongue. It tasted sweet, with bits of orange and cinnamon in the mix of something ritch. It was delicious, beyond that even. Without thinking twice, Yuuji gave in to that new, steange flavor. This wine was probably horribly expensive but he definitely would love a bottle for himself. Yuuji didn't even think as he finished off the rest of the almost full glass as Satoru encouraged it.
The show Yuuji gave him was beautiful. Such a pretty thing nothing more than putty in his fingers, drinking right out of the glass he offered him. Those perfect golden eyes became heavily lidded as his throat bob with every greedy mouthful. He took in every last drop, not taking another breath until Satoru took the now empty glass from his lips. This forced the little demon to pant softly in his fingers, he didn't pull away from Satoru's touch once the entire night. It was such a lovely thing.
“Hm, you seemed to really enjoy that Yuuji, but im still not sure I want to get you another glass if you are going to be that eager.” Satoru practically cooed as the hand that was on his chin moved to Yuuji's cheek, went to stroke and carcass it softly. Feeling as they warmed under his touch, for the first time Yuuji shied from him. How bashful.
“S-sorry! I don't know what came over me- I just-” Yuuji sputtered as his eyes stayed anywhere besides Satoru. He was flustered and confused. Satoru had a sudden realization, Yuuji had no clue what he drank. He really was nothing like his brother who could go through a bottle of blood like it was water. This also must his first time trying it with the way he didn't immediately recognize it by the scent alone.
“Aw, you've never had blood before? Granted this stuff is spiced, but still. I would assume that brother of yours would keep it around your home since he seemed to enjoy a glass every so often himself.” Satoru laughed out as he leaned back against the seat. Yuuji still kept his head turner away, pouting. So his guess was right. Well that is a whole can of worms he would have to unpack about himself. That is until he mentioned Sukuna.
“He drinks this stuff too?? He never told me! What a jerk!” Yuuji huffed but he tilted his head. “So what sort of blood is that? Like cow or something?” Yuuji felt as though he should be more disgusted with himself over this, disgusted his brother had been drinking blood enough for even Satoru to know. He still wasn't sure their relationship but they didn't seem to like one another at all. It probably wasn't for Yuuji to pry and get into some bullshit drama. But to the question Satoru stopped laughing, his arm over his own stomach.
“Cow? Yuuji, you really think I would be drinking animal blood? That's like grocery store wine vs the aged well rounded types.” Satoru spoke as if it was obvious as he poured himself another glass of the red liquid. But Yuuji was stuck, processing. It wasn't animal blood… his eyes widened, his breath came in little pants. He drank human blood. He enjoyed human blood! He tried to keep himself steady, but how could he? Where did this place even get an entire bottle of it, enough to have a whole stock of the stuff. His stomach would start doing flips. He felt as though he might vomit it all up. “Yuuji… are you okay?”
“I- I have to go.” Yuuji spoke without thinking before he stood, he did not hesitated to rush out of their private room. Ignoring Satoru questioning where he was going, calling his name. None of that registered. He just needed to get out of there. This couldn't be happening, it had to be some sort of nightmare. This wasn't happening, sure it wasn't a shock Satoru would drink something like that. But- Sukuna??? His own brother had been drinking human blood, while hanging out with Yuuji's friends. Standing near other people, casually. There was a difference, Satoru needed it to live. They didn't. They didn't need any of that, no matter how perfect it tasted.
How much it stained his tongue, even the small bits of the taste danced about his mouth. His body wanted more, as if he had starved his entire life but didn't know it. He had just been awaken to the feeling of true hunger. He didn't like this burning he felt, his body yearned for another taste, even just a mouthful would help. It scared him. He didn't want his outlook on his friends to change, he didn't want this feeling to get in the way of helping people. He didn't want to see people, fellow lives, as food. Did Sukuna see them as food? Was that why he stayed in the company of other supernatural beings?
Yuuji didn't even notice just how quickly and how far he was walking. He had made it out of the club and just started l in a random direction. With no rhyme or reason. He didn't know where he was, or how far from home he was. Yuuji finally came to about ten minutes into walking aimlessly. He finally noticed his phone was blowing up with calls. All from Satoru, but Yuuji just embarrassed himself worse than he could ever recover from. He didn't blame Satoru for what he did. Sukuna drank the stuff so why wouldn't Yuuji? The offer didn't seem malicious, he wasn't trying to pressure Yuuji into it either. He asked if he wanted to try it and Yuuji gave interest.
The phone was hung up quickly, the call denied. He would never be able to show his face there again. Why had he panicked like that? He should have just stayed- fucking hell this was the worst date ever! It wasn't even a date! There goes any chance he could have ever had with Satoru. A guy like that isn't going to want someone who panicked over blood, he's a fucking vampire! Yuuji can't be squeamish around a fucking vampire!
With Yuuji throughly stressed and with his head in his phone he barely noticed the man he nearly steam rolled with his frantic waking. He pulled back and clenched his phone against his chest tightly, still fidgety with anxiety and regret. Though he was met with a pair of vaguely familiar brown gaze. Long black hair and pierced ears. The man smiled down at Yuuji gently.
“Excuse me, I wasn't watching. Yuuji right?” The man asked softly and Yuuji nodded. He wanted to run away, sink down into nothing and vanish in that moment.
“No! No it was my fault. I was distracted… Suguru?” Yuuji questioned the name on his tongue. He was sure that was what the man told him. Yuuji sighed as his shoulders slumped forward. “We really don't meet in good circumstances huh? I almost ran you over and then the fire…” Yuuji trailed off, he rubbed the back of his neck and tried to force a smile to the man. Those eyes watched him so intensely. As if he was being studied.
“I don't mind this encounter compared to the other one. Besides you were very nice when you did talk to me through the fire. So I can't complain in hindsight.” Suguru seemed to try and lighten the mood, maybe he can tell Yuuji was stressed. Those eyes however narrowed a moment. As if he picked up on something about him suddenly. “You seem a bit frantic, is everything alright?”
“Uh- yeah I'm fine. Physically at least. Actually I may be a little lost now that I think about it.” Yuuji muttered as his eyes gazed about. Fuck he was going to need an Uber to get home. Who knows how much that will cost. Fuck, maybe he should call Satoru back. Apologize and try and explain his actions? No- that was only going to make things worse. Fuck.
“Do you need a ride home? It is the least I can do since you did save my life.” Suguru said with a kind look on his eyes, it made Yuuji's eyes widen. He shook his head.
“I couldn't ask you to do that! I don't even know how far I am from my apartment. I might just call my brother…” Yuuji really didn't want to do that. Especially because Sukuna seemed busy that night. He was going to be pissy no matter what, but if he could lessen that anger he would. The black haired man seemed to pause before he mentally decided on something with a half head nod.
“Sukuna, that's your brother, right?” Suguru asked, but that smile didn't fade from his face. Yuuji could feel his shoulders slump slightly. His brother sure was popular recently. But the pink haired man nodded.
“Yes he's my brother, look whatever he did I am sorry for. He isn't a bad guy, he just can be a bit much.” Yuuji said before he gave an apologetic bow. “Please accept my apology on his behalf.” This may be over doing it, but normally when people ask that question they demand to know where Sukuna is so they can attempt to beat his ass. This was more a precaution to the violence. However, instead of annoyed grumbled this gained a snicker, which turned into a chuckle, and then a full laugh. The man tried to hide it into his hand but couldn't.
“As sweet as the gesture is, Yuuji, I'm actually very close friends with your brother.” Suguru said through snickers before he shook his head. “But you are definitely everything he described. It is nice to officially meet you.” Suguru answered him before he gently patted his shoulder after Yuuji rose, his back straight. His cheeks started to burn at this misinterpretion on his part.
“Oh- I didn't know that. Sukuna never really talks about his friends much or brings them around. I probably look like a dumbass.” Yuuji muttered but Suguru shook his head to the question.
“It's fine, he may not talk about me but he talks about you quite a bit. Here, let me take you home. I'll call him and let him know you got there safe too. It's the least I can do.” Suguru suggested and Yuuji started to relax completely. A smile finally made its way to his face as he agree. This night had turned right on its head. Yuuji had a lot of thinking to do by himself.
Chapter 5: Confessions by blood
Chapter Text
“Uhg, I can't believe I fucked up that badly!” The white haired vampire lamented as he dramatically threw his upper body against the table, his arms splayed out above his head and effectively intruding directly on the humans that sat on the other side of him. The blonde man could only give an irritating huff before smacking the offending appendages away. With this offense taken note of Satoru folded his arms under his head as his cheek rested against them. A clear pout pushed his bottom lip out as his unseen gaze glanced at Nanami.
“What did you expect would happen?” Nanami spoke as if it was obvious, his weight leaned back against the booth he settled against. Shoco was to his right, her head nodded in agreement. While the man to Satoru's right could only stare down at him in mild amusement. Those eyes narrowed to the other demon.
“You did invite a man who devoted his life to saving pathetic humans out to a place with no humans and gave him blood.” Suguru explained quickly before his gaze shifted to Nanami and Shoco. “No offense.” They were some of the only humans Suguru could stand. His boss was only slightly an exception to that rule. He was still half a demon though it was hard to find any form of humanity in that man. Sukuna was almost exclusively known for his cruelty, along with being objective, it didn't matter how close or how high one was in the ranks. They all were ripped apart the moment he deemed them unnecessary.
“He's right, how did you think he was going to react when he found out it was human blood he was drinking?” Shoco asked before she gave a light sigh, her head tilted to the side as long brown hair draped gently over her shoulder. “You're such an idiot.”
“How was I supposed to know he's never tried it??? It's not like he's completely human. It's normal for halflings to drink that or even eat flesh. His brother sure as shit isn't shy.” Satoru snapped back a bit, a vain attempt in justifying that massive fuck up he had made. Yuuji was eating right out of the palm of his hand, hell drinking out of it too, then this happened! It wasn't fair. “He hasn't really been talking to me much after either. He's apparently always busy with ‘work’.” Satoru gave air quotes to the word. His tongue sticking out in his annoyance and disgust with being ignored so easily.
“Now, now Satoru. I wouldn't just assume he's ignoring you outright. By what Sukuna said he has been working for nearly a month straight.” Suguru reassured, his hand pressed gently to his friend's shoulder. An act of reassurance, though it was easy to tell this was mocking and playful. Satoru was quick to shrug off the touch as he sat himself up, he crossed his arms right against his chest as he stared at the black haired beast to his side intently.
“Yeah? I'm surprised Sukuna even talks to you about him since that bastard likes to keep his little ray of sunshine hidden. Hell you never even told me that you knew! You can't keep secrets from your best friend like that, Suguru, it's not nice.” Satoru spoke in a tone that was meant to be playful. But there was something buried in his guise, anger? Perhaps. It was safer to assume jealousy had started to overtake the white haired man. Satoru had alway been a spoiled brat. Getting butt hurt because the object of his affection did not throw himself so willingly was to be expected.
“Well he used to speak about Yuuji every so often. But since I've actually met him now I'm the only one of Sukuna's 'friends’ he knows about.” Suguru was playing just slightly into that jealousy. It was fun to egg the man on. Maybe a bit of a dumb choice, especially since he was normally the more level headed one. But to see that brow twitch above his rounded sunglasses and soft lips pulled into a sneer, oh it was almost too good. “When Yuuji ran out on your little date Sukuna got calls asking him where he was headed. Why he looked so worried and lost. Of course he couldn't be seen with his twin so I was sent to retrieve him. You know, he really is a sweet little thing, very cute-”
“Sukuna would kill you if you tried anything.” Satoru suddenly hissed, though Suguru knew that wasn't what he wanted to say.
“Perhaps, but I have more of his approval than you ever would.” Suguru spoke in a coy, almost too innocent tone before he rested his chin in his palm. His entire weight moved to invade Satoru's space, broad shoulders pushed themselves against the table as he narrowed his deep brown eyes and spoke in a tone of velvet. “Is the great Satoru Gojo jealous? If so, I wonder if it's over that pretty pink haired boy. Or is it that I'm showing interest in someone other than you?” Suguru’s grin only grew as those pale cheeks began to heat and turn a soft shade of pink. Satoru reeled back so he could retort.
“Alright children, no fighting at the dinner table.” Shoco spoke with annoyance spilling from her tongue. Her foot tapped gently against the floor as slowly both men relented. How the hell two massive monsters bent to her whim so easily the world may never know. Even Nanami found the prospect a bit scary at times. They were all monsters. Even with the bit of tension between the pair their meal seemed to go smoothly enough as the topic was not picked back up again.
To say Yuuji had been acting strange was an understatement. That night with Satoru had begun to haunt him. That taste that ever faded from memory, the phantom feeling of the liquid past his tongue. He tried his best not to think about it, yet it flooded his senses. Especially when he was a bit too close to any human, work had become both an escape and a living hell.
Yuuji was no longer as touchy as he had been, actively avoiding all contact from anyone and everyone. This included Toudou. At first the man said nothing, just seeming to brush off the offense. At least the first two weeks he didn't say a word, didn't bother him with confronting Yuuji. Though he did watch the pink haired man carefully. While it had been a long time since they had been around one another, but this still wasn't the Yuuji he had grown accustomed to these last two months.
While Yuuji had still been his happy self, but he avoided getting closer than a couple of a feet. Even during training he tried his best to speed it along. Any prolong contact such as carrying someone during injury training, he sped through the task. Getting the “injured “ party from point a to point b with the most focused expression Toudou had ever seen on those features. The way his eyes barely gave a second glance to the false victim, his words that were normally given in earnest were robotic. Yuuji was just going through the motions.
By the third week of watching this painful display of selfdistruction, Yuuji had been on call every single day since he came back. The morning of his first day back Yuuji barely talked to anyone. His nose would scrunch, his eyes lingered away from people. He didn't stare at anyone for too long, never spoke more than pleasantries either. The wire around that normal sunshine appearence had grown cold. The smiles cast were false, they never reached those golden eyes. Toudou was growing aggravated by the day.
At the end of the fourth week Yuji had worked straight through, Toudou could only watch his friend break himself down. Throw himself into the most raging fires with no sense of care for his own well being. His body shook under his own weight, his shoulders slumped when Yuuji believed no one was watching. Toudou wasn't even sure he had seen Yuuji eat much while on long shifts, if he did it wasn't with the others. How could anyone make such a drastic change in what appeared to be overnight? As if the world had shattered this person into nothing more than a worried shell. Always on alert, forcing a mask to not alarm other’s
Eventually Toudou couldn't take such a display and had to make a decision. While Toudou didn't normally throw around his Lieutenant ranking, he felt like Yuuji had given him no other option. He couldn't just sit back and watch Yuuji work himself to death. Therefore Toudou stopped the pink haired man from coming out of the locker rooms. His massive form blocking the door way, his shoulder propped against the door frame with large arms crossed over a wide chest.
“Hey, Yuuji, can we talk a bit?” Toudou stated, keeping things friendly but not even bothering to use his normal nickname. It seem to catch the man off guard. His eyes blinked up at him as if just registering exactly what the man had said.
“Uh, sure what's up Toudou?” Yuuji spoke as his head tilted slightly to the side. Curious as to what the man could possibly want from him. His day had barely even managed to start his day off after all. It also wasn't ideal to be stuck in the same room with someone for very long. At least not anymore. That first taste of blood had awakened something unpleasant within Yuuji. It could have always been there, just not something Yuuji paid much mind to. Instinct alone screamed of his hunger for something so forbidden, so disgustingly against ever fiber of his moral standing. He refused to let his work suffer due to these whims of his flesh.
Yuuji had smothered his lust for blood by forcing himself in potentially dangerous situations on a daily bases. His survival instincts were the ones that took over every fiber of his being at times. It kept those thoughts at bay. It kept the desire, that burning hunger, out of his mind. Or possibly it was just pushed to the back, forever scratching at the back of his skull. Clawing deep scars into his very soul. A monster.
“I've noticed you've been volunteering for extra hours quite a bit. I think it's time you take some days off.” Toudou didn't want to beat around the bush, he also didn't want to pry too much. Yet there was worry in that tone. It held deeper and cut even sharper into Yuuji's core.
“What? No, I'm fine. I can take the weekend off next week. How does that sound?” Yuuji knew this wasn't true. He probably wouldn't until his body finally gave in under the stress.
“Yuuji, this isn't a request. I already told the others you would be taking the next week off. Captain’s orders.” Toudou spoke as his hand pressed gently against Yuuji's shoulder. Gently gripping it in a motion of true reassurance and genuine worry. “You haven't been acting like yourself lately. Is everything alright? I know we don't really hang out too much besides work but I'm not the only one that noticed.”
“I'm fine, Toudou- wait. Captain Yaga requested this?” Yuuji gaped as he said this. He can't go against his Captain’s orders. Even if he wanted to. Yuuji had thought he was doing well to hide it all. Most people were still friendly with him. They spoke to him like they always had. He expected Toudou to sense something was off due to the lack of eagerness for any form of physical contact with the man. Yuuji couldn't forgive himself if he managed to hurt Toudou in some way. So he retracted from him further than anyone else at his job. Too scared of the fact he was human to get a little too enticing. “I…. I've just been going through a bit recently. You know, everything has changed so fast-”
“Hey I get it, you're under a lot of stress. It happens to the best of us, brother.” Toudou stated, he gave an earnest smile, it held worry but softer than Yuuji normally sees him. “But you can't run yourself into the ground because of it. Take the vacation and get some rest.” With that the man gave a hardy pat before he turned out the door. Leaving Yuuji to change back into street clothes and let himself out.
His muscles felt heavy, about the same as the weight against his chest. How foolish of him. To think no one would notice, they would just allow him to run himself ragged until his brain not body functioned. If anything it was the only way Yuuji was able to sleep anymore, exhaustion over took his form and lulled him into a dreamless black abyss. It wasn't healthy, Yuuji knew that well. But it was better than lingering on unwanted thoughts.
The walk home felt more as if Yuuji was on autopilot. His brain left to its own devices, worry settled into the pit of his gut. Thoughts of what his peers must think of him now. Had he lost the trust of Captain Yaga? He didn't want to be viewed as a liability due to his one recklessness. By the time his one was in sight all Yuuji wanted to do was drop onto his bed and sleep for days. He had ignored all the screaming from his body for days now. Maybe a nap would do him some good?
As the lock clicked to his small apartment he could already hear grumbling from inside. His hand gripped the metal handle, it was cooler by the spring winds, knuckles held so tight they had turned white. His palm felt clamy. Sukuna was home. Throwing himself into an ungodly amount of hours at work held to hide from many things. This included looking his brother in the face. The thought of his own brother drinking blood so frivolously that even Satoru knew was frustrating. How could Yuuji not know? How could he not notice anything when he lived with the man! The one person he knew better than anyone else on this planet. His twin.
But none of that could ever be avoided forever, swallowing down his worry Yuuji pushed the door open. There the mirror image of himself settled against the back of the couch. His legs splayed out across the cushions as one arm splayed over the back. His phone was pressed against his ear as he growled out more words to the poor bastard on the other end.
“You fucking heard me, Uraume. I'm not going to be indulging any of that bullshit today. So how about you tell them to-” there was a subtle glance Yuuji's way. One that only lasted for a split second before he spoke again. “I have to go.” With that the phone was pushed aside, pocketed away. Those wine colored eyes narrowed on his brother. Their gaze held an intensity normally reserved for those who had royally pissed this man off. An animosity that radiated from his very being.
“Don't look at me like that. I got an impromptu vacation, so I'll be home the next week.” Yuuji grumbled as he started past the man on the couch. Sukuna hadn't spoken much about Yuuji ignoring him so openly. Which was strange. Normally the man would dig into him, deman a reasoning as to why he wasn't speaking to him anymore. But no. Not this time. He didn't even utter a word as Yuuji passed him, instead he gave a light scoff.
Well that was… strange. But Yuuji could only thank his lucky stars that it didn't end in a fight. He would have lost fast which would only spark greater anger in his brother. Yuuji made a beline for his room, wanting to lock himself away and just lay down, away from it all. Before the door could fully shut a hand stopped it. Sukuna loomed in the door way, his gaze as sharp as ever. Yet even still Yuuji would not yield. Instead he rolled his eyes and flopped onto the bed, laying on his stomach for about a minute before he curled himself into a ball with his back to his brother. Hoping the man would go away if he kept up the silent treatment.
Sukuna didn't leave. He stepped his way silently across the carpeted floors. His eyes gazed about the darkened room, blinds drew shut to keep out the outside world. Clothes strung haphazardly about the floor. The place was a mess, not even Yuuji's bed was made as he flopped against the mess of blankets and pillows. Sukuna stayed silent as he settled himself down against the carpet, his back leaned against the wooden bed frame. He faced the door as he waited.
It was quick for Yuuji to realize exactly what was happening. Sukuna used to do this often when they were young. When Yuuji was not having a good day and refused to talk about it the man would just sit with him in silence. This could last minute, hours or days. At one point Yuuji had gone through an awful breakup in highschool where a girl had cheated on him with what he assumed to be a friend. That silence that they spent together lasted a whole month. Every single day after school Sukuna would sit with him. If anything could be said about the demon was a testament to his unyielding patience. Especially when it came to his brother.
They stayed like that for what felt like hours. Sukuna would only leave to go to the bathroom, he came right back and settled in the same spot. Yuuji glanced back slightly to see Sukuna mindlessly scrolling on his phone. After about four hours of this Yuuji realized he wasn't going to be able to out wait this man. He took a deep breath, his fingers digging into the blanket he had pulled around his form. No matter what Sukuna was going to figure it out eventually. He has a way of getting information despite Yuuji attempting to bury and hide it away. There were no secrete that Sukuna didn't know about him… it wasn't fair.
“Kuna.” Yuuji muttered first. His body tensed to his own word. As if it was involuntary, he wanted to take a deep breath to retract the one that spoke his twin’s name. Part of him hoped Sukuna had not heard him, but that hope was quickly crushed as he responded.
“Yuu.” Sukuna spoke back without even looking up from his phone, his tone was too casual. Too nonchalant about it all. He really must not know what had happened, who he had been out with. If he did he would be fuming. Yuuji went directly against his warnings.
“We're monsters, aren't we?” Yuuji spoke as he closed his eyes. As if that would stop the inevitable answer to such a question. But instead the other gave an exasperated sigh before his head tilted back against the bed and those wine colored eyes got a peek of gold. Yuuji slowly turned to him a bit better, still curled up but now facing Sukuna. Worry and guild spread across his features much too obviously.
“This again? I thought you got over this in like seventh grade.” Sukuna sighed as he pinched at the bridge of his nose. “No Yuuji, you aren't a monster.”
“But we aren't human, what else could we be?” Yuuji said this in such a definitive tone. His eyes stared hard into Sukuna. Searching for any hint of a lie in his brother. Any twitch in that solid expression he always made.
“Even humans can be monsters. Just because you aren't completely human doesn't make you a bad person. What brought this up all of a sudden?” Sukuna asked, though he already knew some of the reason. Just not the whole story. Why Yuuji was in that part of town was lost to him. But he came out of a well known demon hotspot, Sukuna could only assume what he saw in that place.
“... you are going to be pissy if I tell you.” Yuuji said before he ran his hand through his hair. But the silence he got back was deafening. Sukuna turned away from him, just staring straight. “I uh… I went out with Satoru and-”
“You what- what did that bastard do!?” Sukuna snapped back suddenly. “Is that why Suguru found you panicked like that? Did he hurt you? I swear I will castrate that fucker. Maybe now you'll fucking listen to me when I tell you to stay away from someone.” Sukuna started his rant. He was pissed, those eyes held murderous intent.
“Suguru told you he brought me home?” Yuuji asked as he rubbed the back of his neck. He sighed before sitting up and leaning back. “Sukuna he didn't hurt me, you should know me better than that! I'm a lot stronger than I look and I don't need you to babysit me. It was my fault anyway.”
“What happened? Spill it Yuuji!” Sukuna growled before he was on the bed with his brother. Sitting close, his eyes calculating as they searched over his neck for anything that could be seen as a bite. The golden eyed twin backed away but it didn't get him very far.
“Sukuna relax, you're getting all worked up over nothing. I didn't get hurt but… we were out to have drinks and-” Yuuji paused, the words died in his throat as guilt began to bubble up. He took a deep breath. “He asked if I wanted to try some wine he got, but it- it wasn't wine… it tasted amazing- he also told me you drink- that stuff, too. Why didn't you tell me?” Yuuji gave what was essentially word vomit as he made his confession. His fear and disgust held well in his words. As were his admiration talking about the taste of the forbidden liquid.
It wasn't Sukuna's turn to almost sputter. His eyes narrowed. Locking on Yuuji, he had told him about something that could be so grotesque to his own brother, what other secrets could he have spilt? Was Satoru trying to sour their relationship? Rip Yuuji away from him. What a disgusting little man. He would have to make it a point that Sukuna would not stand for such a thing. But there was no hiding this fact any longer. With dropped shoulder Sukuna gave in.
“It started back in highschool.” Sukuna stated as he rubbed the back of his neck and looked away. “I was with this girl that was really into pain- well she asked me to bite her and after that first taste…” Sukuna omitted the part where he practically ripped her throat out. He killed that girl, he ripped apart her family with grief after hiding all the evidence of the attack. But Yuuji didn't need to know that, he didn't need the gruesome details of his little awakening to human flesh and blood. If anything Sukuna was relieved Yuuji had a much safer experience than he had. He could only imagine his dear brother calling him scared and crying that he just mutilated some poor sap. Sukuna wouldn't admit it but he had taken measures to even sabotage that persuit of anything in the medical field for Yuuji. It would be much too enticing after a while.
“What… what do you do to stop the burning? Will it ever go away?” Yuuji asked looking up at Sukuna with such weary eyes. He was scared, worried. Such a bleeding heart shouldn't be cursed with these desires. It physically pained Sukuna to see Yuuji this scared. His face pulled into a grimace.
“It doesn't, only grows worse unless you sate that desire.” Sukuna couldn't lie to Yuuji any longer. He couldn't pretend it would all just go away, that would be too dangerous for the both of them. “But I can make sure to get you some bottles, it helps a lot.” Sukuna paused, he didn't know how much further he should speak on this matter. If Yuuji would hate him for what he was about to say. But it was the cold reality of their existence, he needed to know. “Flesh helps better than blood, but blood can at least be sourced more ethically. With hospitals selling it to the demonic black market. They also give bodie at times but it's a bit more rare.”
The look of horror that crossed his brother’s face was aweful to witness. He tore his eyes from Sukuna as he cleared his throat. He was gifted a few minutes to process exactly what his twin had just confessed to him. His hands shook before he closed his eyes to anchor himself.
“You- you eat people? But already dead people right?” Yuuji asked, his eyes desperate for honesty. Honestly that Sukuna would not give to him as he nodded. He lied to Yuuji when he was at his most vulnerable. When he was searching for comfort. It felt childish to believe something was ever ethical when it came to the consumption of human meat. But if it kept his brother from hurting someone by his own hands Sukuna would lie.
“I do, but you don't have to. Yuuji it will be okay. You trust me don’t you?” Sukuna asked, watching Yuuji stare down at his hands in his lap. His eyes darkened. Before Sukuna took one to force his focus back on him. “Yuu, I'll take care of it. It doesn't make you a monster, just not human.” Sukuna spoke honestly, Yuuji wasn't a bad person. He couldn't be, not with how much this was wracking through his entire being. Yuuji finally looked up to him and beamed that smile at him. It still held an undertone of worry. But he wrapped his arms tightly around Sukuna, holding him so tight.
“Of course I trust you. Thank you.” Yuuji muttered against him. Sukuna relaxed finally seeing something familiar from the other man. His arms wrapped tight around him, determined to never let go. Yet that was the moment there was a knock at the front door. Sukuna growled under his breath before he gently unraveled himself and ruffled Yuuji's hair.
“I'll get the door, you go shower. You smell like you haven't in weeks.” Sukuna scoffed as he pushed his brothers head to the side playfully. Earning a smack to his hand. Yet the pout given was playful and in good humor. Good. With that the relentless pounding on the door hadn't stopped. Sukuna half expected it to be Uraume, which would be surprisingly helpful since he would need to ask him for a few extra bottles of blood from here on out.
When he opened the door however, it wasn't the white haired man he was hoping for. Quite the opposite. A tall figure stood before him, sunglasses over his eyes, dressed in slacks and another button downs his brows raised above his shades. Satoru looked a little surprised to see Sukuna on his own goddamn apartment.
"Is Yuuji home?"
Chapter 6: A new game
Chapter Text
"Is Yuuji home?" Satoru asked with no real hope of getting a truthful answer. At least not with the way those wine colored orbs stared down into his very soul. That piercing gaze was matched with an expression of pure contempt. But Sukuna did not slam the door in his face, shocker there. Instead he stepped outside, closing the door very softly behind himself. A good indication the nice twin may still be inside.
“Why do you think I would tell you if he was or not? What do you want Gojo?” Sukuna practically growled his words, his body braced firmly between the taller pale man and the door. Guarding it from what he assumed to be a threat. Not that the shorter demon was exactly wrong in his assumptions. Satoru was not a being one should take lightly, most anyone could tell you that.
“So cold Susu.” Satoru chastised playfully. “Or do you prefer Kuna since that is what Yuuji tends to call you? It's a cute nickname.” Satoru remarked which only stoked the embers of Sukuna's growing annoyance.
“It's just Sukuna to you. Now out with it leech, why are you here? Haven't you done enough damage already?” Sukuna suddenly snapped. Causing Satoru's expression to soften slightly, confusion spread across his features.
“I don't know what you are talking about. I just came by to speak to the good twin. Not the asshole that can't even take a bit of teasing.” Satoru spoke with a pout as his arms crossed against his chest. His eyes however stayed narrowed behind his sunglasses. Sukuna had been known to be unpredictable in the past, though he was not reckless. His planning and skill in obliterating his enemies with gruesome precision was well renowned.
“I'm still doing damage control from the last time you ‘spoke’ with him. He isn't in any of my dealings so leave him alone. I didn't think you would act like such a lowlife bottom feeder using Yuuji to get to me. What a cowardly approach.” Sukuna spoke in disgust. The sight of the fear and loathing in his brother's eyes was unforgivable. He resented this man for bringing up such emotions in one of the only decent things Sukuna had in his life.
“Damage control? All we did was have a few drinks. I didn't know he hadn't had that brand of wine before.” Satoru normally didn't care for tact, but they were out in the open with other apartments close by. He didn't want to give away too much for unwanted ears to overhear.
“You really have no clue what you did.” Sukuna sighed as he leaned back against his door. He grumbled and gritted his teeth. Reluctant to explain too much. But he wanted to see how Satoru would react to the information. How deep his interest lay.
“He has been guilt stricken for the entire month, he just asked me if he was a monster for drinking that wine you gave him. He craves it now. You don't have to deal with the aftermath of your careless actions. How disgusted he looked when I admitted to indulging in it as well. You've ruined more than you know. Yet you still have the fucking audacity to come here and ask to speak with him?! You should be apologizing, groveling at his feet for him to fucking forgive you for putting him through all this.” Sukuna snarled with venom spitting in every word. But deep down, Sukuna knew Yuuji had already forgiven the action. He knew by the way he told Sukuna it wasn't this man's fault. But it was. Those words were an acid storm that broke down Satoru's little wall he had built up. His brow turned from shock to concern. His expression soured as that smile left his lips and pulled into a softer frown.
“I didn't think it was that big of a deal. He's a halfling, he's meant to drink that sort of stuff to help him. It's like someone living their life on the bare minimum of nutrition the way he's been going.” Satoru spoke softly before he sighed and pushed his hands deeper into his pockets. His unseen gaze loomed to the left as he couldn't look this man in the face. This was a side of Sukuna he never got to see. One that had a reason for his lashing out, that had something to defend rather than arbitrary whims he gave into without much care for those around him. Satoru understood his vitriol, he had expressed the same for those he cared for in the past. With a deep breath and his head hung he pushed aside his pride. Just this once. “For what it's worth, I am sorry. I didn't mean to cause any harm to Yuuji. I wanted him to have a good time….”
“Yeah well you fucked that up royally.” Sukuna shot back instantly. His teeth slightly bared. But he did start to relax at that genuine statement. If Satoru was just after Sukuna he wouldn't care what happens to Yuuji. Of course this could be just good acting. Only time will tell. “Leave him alone or apologize to his face. If you ever pull something like that again, if you ever hurt my brother in any way I will destroy you. I will tear open this entire industry and expose us all if it means you go down with me. Understand?” Sukuna spoke these words as if they were law. His eyes showed no hint of backing down or lying.
He would drag every single supernatural being down just to see Satoru fail. This was the calamity that was Sukuna. This is what people feared most about the man. He didn't care. A man with nothing to lose was a dangerous one indeed. With that the half demon turned to his door, opening it before slamming it right back in the white haired man's face. Leaving him alone with his thoughts. With the grasping for straws feeling of what his next step could possibly be. Satoru had to do something.
Yet there was nothing the white haired man could do that day. Sukuna was obviously still fuming from this sudden interjection on his “normal” side of life. The side he kept hidden away from his misdeeds, the one Satoru knew him best for and was an active participant, or possibly an antagonist. It would be jarring for anyone to see these collide without one's own control.
Satoru should feel satisfaction in completely shaking this man to his core. But he didn't. He felt guilt in a sense. Possibly more over Yuuji rather than that beast of a man. The fact he had unknowingly changed the little ray of sunshine’s worldly perception was disheartening. His game had become a little too real, the stakes were just a bit too high.
After the door slam reverberated though the entirety of the small apartment Yuuji peaked out from the door to the bathroom. His head tilted slightly as he watched his brother start walking towards the kitchen.
“Who was that?” Yuuji questioned, curious as to the now sour mood his brother displayed. At least more sour than usual. Sukuna shrugged his shoulders as he walked through their shared kitchen. Opening a few draws until he found the take out menus he was after.
“Some lowlife salesman that can't read a damn no soliciting sign.” Sukuna griped as he scanned through the stack of takeout pamphlets that he seemed to demand they keep. Yuuj had suggested just scrolling through the door dash like a normal human being but Sukuna preferred to have something more physical to flip through. The golden eyed twin snickered to the cranky demeanor, feeling a bit better after confessing such sins to his brother. If anything Yuuji was more pleased that Sukuna didn't react as badly as he could have.
“Do you want me to cook lunch instead?” Yuuji inquired as that brow frowned at the options. Sukuna peered at the various choices in deep contemplation.
“No, you need to rest. How does pizza sound?” Sukuna finally seemed to pick between all these choices. After Yuuji agreed that it sounded good to him as well, Sukuna was on the phone ordering two larges for them to share. It may seem like a lot, but due to their ravenous metabolism and the lack of nutrition their demon sides actively craved they ate well over what the normal person should. This was less so for Sukuna since he indulged in human flesh regularly, most of the pizza was for Yuuji. Their grandfather would constantly gripe about the boys eating him out of house and home.
“You don't have to dote on me all the time. I'm not some kid anymore.” Yuuji complained as he made his way over to flop against the couch. It was at least better than that dark depressing corner that was his room. “So… Do you stockpile that ‘wine’ stuff in your room or something? I'm kinda surprised I haven't seen you with it before.” Yuuji spoke about this so casually, but Sukuna expected the questions to arise eventually.
“I do have some in there but I try not to bring any home since I didn't want you to know.” Sukuna admitted as he made his way over to the couch as well. Yet he didn't sit quite yet, that deep burgundy colored gaze bore into Yuuji with a moment of contemplation. “Are you asking because you want some or just out of curiosity where I hide it so you can steal from me later?” Yuuji frowned at the accusation. The audacity! Though deep down Sukuna was right.
“I don't really know yet. The thought of it still kinda grosses me out.” Yuuji admitted as his head fell back against the armrest of the couch, his eyes fixated on nothing in particular as he gazed at the blank wall ahead of him.
“Yeah well you are going to have to get over it. If you want me to grab you a bottle now I will.” Sukuna offered as his stance grew somewhat impatient. His arms had crossed themselves over his chest and his brow furrowed. “You need it, Yuuji.”
Those words reverberated throughout Yuuji's skull. This was no longer some horrible desire he must hide from everyone around him. No this was a need, as primal as breathing. His body did not just crave the taste but the source of that perfect flavor. The thought alone made him sick to his stomach. His twin took quick note of the expression he made. Without another word Sukuna walked towards his room, he would be back with a darkened glass bottle. The label was mostly blank with some odd fancy writing on the front. A name that Yuuji didn't bother to read.
“I'll even drink it with you if that will make you feel better. But I'm not going to let you waste away.” Sukuna stated as he retrieved some glasses from the kitchen. A hand came to push Yuuij’s legs off to the side so Sukuna could settle himself down on their couch. Yuuji slowly sat himself up, his back pressed against the cushions, as if he could melt away into them and not have to do any of this ever again. But instead Sukuna poured the dense red liquid into two wide wine glasses and offered one up towards the golden eyed twin.
The scent of the liquid hit Yuuji's nose before anything else. It was strong. Both hands came up to gently cup around the bowl of the wine glass instead of holding it by the stem. He could already feel his brother slightly judging the way he gingerly held his drink. His eyes were fixated on its contents, the liquid was like a sweet poison to his soul. It tainted his very being, yet it also tasted like heaven on earth. A forbidden fruit. He hesitated, golden eyes glanced from his eyelids to watch Sukuna so casually tip the glass against his lips, taking a rather generous sip of his own. His eyes mimicked the red contents as they stared Yuuji down. His brother had never looked like the devil to him, at least not until that moment.
Everyone has this idea of a red horned beast with goat legs that appears in their darkest most desperate hour of need. But in reality it was much more complicated than that. That nagging voice that told people to do unspeakable acts had always been their own. As much as Yuuji saw the Devil in his brother, he saw it in himself as well. His hands slowly went to grasp the stem of the wine glass, mimicking Sukuna as a perfect mirror as he brought it to his own lips. Once more the liquid slipped past them with such ease. It ran past his tongue and down his throat. Though this time there were no hints of orange and cinnamon. It was the pure taste of that ambrosia. Indescribable, perfectly sweet and tart at the same time. Greedily he coveted half the glass for himself before forcing it away from his lips.
“Don't over do it, your body has essentially starved itself your entire life. It's going to want you to binge. Trust me, vomiting up blood is not fun. Even if it's not your own.” Sukuna warned him, it seemed to be from experience too. Yuuji nodded as he sighed.
“Yeah I think im still trying to process all this.” Yuuji muttered, it was barely audible even to the man next to him. But he still listened as he leaned in slightly. Just sitting beside Yuuji, their shoulders brushed against one another was comfort enough for both parties. Golden eyes gave their twin a look. Just a glance, before they gave more of a stare. “Did you feel guilty the first time you drank this stuff?”
The question hung low in the air. Sukuna was slightly taken off guard by it. He didn't give much thought to the guilt of the situation. He panicked when it happened, so many things ran through his head. Including the cold realization that he had just murdered that girl. But he couldn't say guilt was one of them. She had been a fling, a nobody that he ripped into by mistake. He was there to simply fuck her and move on with his life. He supposed after she was dead he saw her body as nothing more than meat. No longer a person. Sukuna had alway been good at detaching from his emotions, quite the opposite of Yuuji who was run by them.
As he opened his mouth to confess those sins there was yet another knock at their door. Yuuji's face lit up as he stood. Proclaiming that it had to be the pizza they ordered. Sukuna supposed that was a bit quick but he was not going to complain about speedy customer service. As Yuuji opened the door he was not met with some random pizza man ready to deliver the goods. No. There stood a now familiar face. This man's eyes were narrow as ever, his smile was soft but held no warmth.
“Ah, hello Yuuji, is Sukuna home?” He spoke as he slightly leaned down to the adorable pink haired man. Suguru didn't expect the golden eyed twin to be home but it was a very pleasant surprise. Yuuji nodded before he did nearly the unthinkable.
“Hi Suguru! Yeah he's home, do you want to come in?” Yuuji asked as he cocked his head a bit. This was Sukuna's friend after all, plus if he needed to talk with the man then it would be easier while they waited for the pizza. The blood/wine stuff would be hard for any human to tell the difference. Not unless they were sniffing the glass so he wasn't too worried about that. Yuuji was still sure he couldn't drink it in front of anyone else. Even if they didn't know the true contents of the drink.
“Sure, I just need to speak with him and then I'll be out of your hair.” Suguru spoke politely as Yuuji stepped out of the doorway to allow him in. He really is quite the trusting soul. Now only has he allowed Suguru to drive him home, willingly giving a stranger his address because he simply stated he knew his brother. Now he was allowing him inside said home. There was no worry or fear in his actions. What a foolishly trusting man, normally Suguru would find the weakness disgusting. But coming from such a sincere place it was almost endearing.
“Hey don't worry about it! A friend of Sukuna's is always welcomed here. He doesn't bring many over often, I think I've met Uraume a handful of times, they're pretty nice, but a bit odd.” Yuuji remarked innocently. He really knew nothing of just how ruthless his brother was, nor the company he kept. Nothing of the monster that stood before him now. Suguru stepped past the threshold of the home, his form practically loomed over Yuuji. He may not be quite as tall as Satoru was, but he was a bit wider in frame. Yuuji still paid little mind, leading him deeper towards the living room.
“Uhg what's taking you so long- Geto?” Sukuna paused, his expression masked something teetering between friendly and down right scornful to the intrusions of the other's presence. Yuuji knew their relationship as something akin to a friendship. Therefore Sukuna had to conduct himself in a more familiar tone with his subordinate, this was going to be hell. “What are you doing here?”
“Uraume sent me over to check on you. Apparently you hung up on them abruptly and they got a bit worried.” Suguru spoke casually, simply. Already playing up the act Sukuna was mentally coaching himself on. Though Sukuna knew there was probably more under the surface. Possibly a need for his attention on more pressing matters. Those red eyes rolled themselves into the back of his skull. While the two spoke Yuuji busied himself with silently cleaning up and tucking away the “wine” bottle and glasses for after Suguru left. He didn't feel comfortable with anyone being around such a thing without them knowing.
“Yeah well I became busy, I told them I would be out today. Not my fault they didn't listen.” Sukuna practically hissed, something about too many unwelcome visitors had him more riled up than he needed to be. Sukuna knew that demons could be territorial by nature but he never thought of himself that way. Possibly due to the fact he normally kept everyone away from what was actually his. Just shitty office buildings that he conducted business in.
“Kuna.” Yuuji suddenly chastised, right in front of Suguru. His lips had pulled into a pout as he made his way closer, the man's elbow gently jabbed into his brother’s side. A gesture that would get anyone else at least struck down with a punch or a kick. “Don't be a dick! Uraume was worried about you! They have been one of your only long lasting friends and it's nice to see someone else giving a shit besides just me.” Yuuji huffed as Sukuna gave a glare that transcended contempt. As if his eyes could burn a hole right through Yuuji's very soul. “I'm sorry Suguru. He's been acting like an ass all day.” Yuuji waved the statement off.
It was strange to see Sukuna in this light. Allowing such disrespect on his name. He supposed it made sense, they were raised with one another. It was almost cute to see the warlord simply groan and huff instead of that deadly blank stare he gave most that annoyed him. His eyes always held contempt but in its most adjective, uncaring way. A pawn that had crossed a king would be given no pity. Simply a swift end to its existence.
“Apologize.” Yuuji suddenly demanded, which took both parties by surprise. Suguru more so than Sukuna. The demon bared his teeth, his jaw clenched so tight Suguru was sure he could hear those teeth grinding together. His eyes turned cold the moment they met Geto, with a voice of ice he spoke.
“Tell Uraume I'm sorry for hanging up on him. But I was busy dealing with my idiot brother.” Sukuna spoke through his teeth, his jaw had not opened for a single moment. Suguru had to bite his tongue to keep from snickering at the display. There would be hell to pay if he gave in to the comedy of it all.
“And?” Yuuji pressed, his arms crossed themselves over his chest, foot tapping impatiently. It was the scorn a parent could give an unruly child. The notion was even more comical considering how much stronger Sukuna was by the weight of his name alone.
“What!? What the hell else do you want me to say Yuu!?” Sukuna snapped as he turned his gaze fully on his twin. Though he almost flinched when he saw the glare he got back. Now this was interesting, how much power Yuuji truly held was astonishing. The guilt trip he gave with a stare alone worked wonders.
“Apologize for being a bad host to Suguru. He's one of your only friends , you haven't even asked if he wanted tea or anything. You're being rude.” Yuuji berated in a scornful tone, but flashed a smile of warmth to the gloomy man. It really was adorable how these two interacted. As if they were night and day. Sukuna smacked his twin’s arm but nothing more came of the interaction before he took a deep breath and spoke.
“Do you want to stay and have tea? I'm sure you're pretty busy- Suguru.” His first name being spoken without a hit of malice behind it was staggering. The lack of formalities was going to haunt him for quite some time. Suguru could already feel it. However he may as well play up the very attentive friend guise, even if only to get in good graces with the nicer twin.
“I wouldn't mind joining you if you're offering.” Suguru spoke with the kindest, most pleased smile he could muster. Yuuji returned it back in pure delight as he turned on his hill towards the kitchen. Happy to finally have someone Sukuna was close to at their apartment. He always worried about the company his brother kept, he wished he saw more of them. Even if they weren't exactly his friends as well. Sukuna would go out with Yuuji and his group often but the golden eyes twin could not say he was ever invited out with Sukuna. After Yuuji had so eagerly left the two alone Sukuna stepped up, his hand instantly went to the front of Suguru’s yukata. He tugged the man down more to his eye level as he growled.
“What the fuck was that!?” Sukuna kept his voice barely above a hiss as he leaned in for only Suguru to hear. “I gave you a very simple out, yet you choose to stay here. What game are you playing, Geto?”
“I would never, sir. I'm simply keeping up the act so your brother doesn't get upset. That is what you wanted right?” Suguru spoke with that darkened smile. He played coy, but enjoyed the game he had set. “I also need to talk to you. There are some issues propping up that need your attention.”
“Save it, I heard enough of that from Uraume. I'm busy this week apparently. Yuuji's off work and I need to make sure he doesn't spiral down some bullshit rabbit hole Gojo started him on.” Sukuna finally relented as he took a step back. He smoothed over his own shirt, as if wiping away the filth of touching Suguru.
“You know taking an unannounced week off will gain quite the eye of your ranks.” Suguru challenged gently before he settled himself on their couch. Those dark eyes cast up at his boss. “Your beneficiaries won't take kindly to you brushing them off like that.”
“I don't exactly care what they will take kindly to, Geto. If they think of me as weak then they can say it to my face. Just see how far that gets them.” Sukuna spoke with a scoff in his tone. He settled himself on the opposite end of the couch. Those eyes never left the black haired man, trained with deadly precision.
“Well, perhaps I can help then? I wouldn't mind entertaining Yuuji while you deal with everything.” Suguru spoke in a joking tone. Intending for it to be a playful bit of banter, but also casting his line. Feeling out just how Sukuna felt about them getting close to one another. How far Suguru could push things before it snapped and the world would fall beneath his feet. Simply leaving him to choke on a noose of his own selfish desires. That wine colored gaze became narrowed. Studying his form, his face. A hand pressed over his chin as Sukuna pondered what had just been suggested. His subordinate left alone with his brother, which might keep Gojo at bay for a bit.
Though Sukuna knew of Satoru and Suguru’s relationship, he also knew that they respected one another greatly. That can cause boundaries to be set to keep a rift between that blood sucking monster and Yuuji. Yet it could also be an issue if Suguru decided he no longer wanted to play nice with Sukuna's brother. He held no true loyalty towards the golden eyed twin. He would have to enact some conditions to these little babysitting sessions. While the idea of any more of Sukuna's secret life seeping into the daylight disgusted him, it could no longer be helped. He could stop it at Suguru, if only to keep Yuuji out of harm's way. The man was strong, he could protect his brother.
“Fine.” Sukuna stated simply, causing the man beside him to blink. Confused, Suguru didn't expect Sukuna to agree so easily. Sukuna's eyes cast forward as his chin rested on his hand. Then the next set of words came out as cold and calm as freshly fallen snow. “If you harm my brother I will kill you. But I don't need him running back to Gojo. Keep them apart.”
Even if the white haired man were to grow the balls to apologize to Yuuji it would be too late. Yuuji would have moved on falsely. A cruel request, but one that needed to be done.
Chapter 7: The Date
Chapter Text
After about an entire day of sleeping Yuuji had been invited out for some tea and lunch by Suguru. This sudden interest was a bit strange but not at all unwelcomed. The prospect of getting to officially meet and hang out with one of Sukuna's friends was enticing to say the least. His brother had always been the more reserved type. He liked his alone time and he liked his privacy. While Yuuji was an open book that allowed anyone to hear his thoughts and desires.
Though it seemed that Sukuna's friend was also a bit more mysterious. The man was a bit late to the meet up. Not quite by much since Yuuji had only been outside of the shop for a handful of minutes. Upon seeing his black haired companion the pink haired ray of sunshine lifted his hand up high and gave a very vigorous, excited wave. Throwing his whole arm into it.
“Hey Suguru! How are you doing today?” Yuuji asked in a chipper tone. Practically bouncing on his heel to meet his new possible friend. The man before him seemed a bit more relaxed than all the other times he had met him. Granted two out of those three were not under the best circumstances. One being an actual house fire and the other where Yuuji was on the verge of a panic attack. To see his shoulders less squared was a very good sign.
“I'm doing well, thanks for waiting on me.” Suguru still spoke in this overly polite way, but his smile didn't seem as cold as before. More genuine. With that Yuuji took that as a sign they were good and grabbed the man's arm to tug him inside.
“Good, when you said you wanted tea I knew just the place. It even has little sweets that pair well with nearly anything they sell. One of my friends, Kugisaki, showed me this place.” Yuuji happily prattled as they made it to the front counter. The sudden physical contact was strange, but also not unwelcomed.
Suguru would cast his deep brown eyes down at the other. While he was not too much taller than Yuuji, he had mass on the other man. Which was slightly shocking considering just how physical Yuuji's line of work was. Yet he still stood close, his body ever so slightly pressed into Suguru’s side. It was almost adorable the way he smiled and lit up at even the slightest gesture in good faith. He was truly a sweet and trusting soul. It was nice to see the bright grin on his face as it beamed so easily. As if the sun itself had blessed that smile with its light. It was easy to see why Satoru had become infatuated so quickly.
Coveting that light for one's self seemed almost cruel to the rest of the world. But Suguru has never been one to care for what the rest of the world had to say. Humans were soft beasts that didn't deserve much of his sympathy, if any at all. While Suguru was well aware Yuuji was only a half demon, he didn't seem to act as malicious as his lineage may suggest. Apparently he hadn't even given in to any cravings until very recently. Yuuji either had the resolve of a saint or not gotten too mouthy with anyone before. With teeth like theirs it's easy enough to nick skin Edelweiss being devoured by the insatiable monster within.
“Hey Suguru?” Yuuji suddenly chimed in as they grabbed their order. Suguru had barely noticed that he had spaced out that badly. He flashed an apologetic smile the pink haired man's way.
“Yes Yuuji?” Suguru responded softly. While he did not have to fear Sukuna coming after his head for interacting with Yuuji any longer he still had to tread lightly. Though it really didn't seem much would upset the other. Suguru settled himself at a nice table in the back. He would have offered to sit outside due to the weather not being too cool, but the threat of storm clouds overhead made him weary. He simply pulled them as far from the prying eyes of people as much as possible.
“I just wanted to say thanks for looking after Sukuna. I mean I'm not sure how close you two are but he seems pretty fond of you. At least he didn't kick you out of the apartment when you came over, I say that's a good sign.” Yuuji laughed more to himself as he grinned. His hand ever so softly brushed through his own pink locks as golden eyes glanced away meekly. The fact this was the first thing he had thought about on this little outing was sweet in a way. What a caring brother he was.
“I wouldn't say we are that close. But I have known him for a couple of years now. I'm a little surprised it took so long for us to meet.” Suguru lied as his chin rested delicately on his palm. His hair flowed like water over his shoulders, in a black avalanche of silk. Of course Yuuji knew well how attractive this man truly was. Anyone who said otherwise was obviously blind. The way he leaned his shoulders forward, complete interest held in those deep brown eyes. It almost made Yuuji choke on his drink.
“Hey a few years dealing with him is an accomplishment in my book.” Yuuji snickered before he shrugged. “I know he isn't the nicest guy out there, but he's still my brother. So any friend of his I'm more than happy to meet. Though he's also super private about things.” Yuuji commented as he placed a hand on his chin in thought. “I'm still glad I met you, even if I did have to practically push you out a window.”
“Oh don't remind me.” Suguru spoke with an overly dramatic sigh. “You were pretty strong to haul me out like that. Plus you really helped me not freak out that everything around me was up in flames” Suguru praised the other more than happily. They were not empty words either, it was an admiral feat. Though it would be better used not wasted on human life. “You really are quite a sweetheart huh?”
“What- I uh- I was just doing my job.” Yuuji stammered as he was smiled at. This one was not cold, it held genuine intent behind it. Causing his heart to practically leap from his chest. This was awfully confusing, he felt this way around Satoru as well. Where were these damn modelesque people coming from and why were they all so damn flirtatious??
“Even still it was a better experience than it would have been if I was just thrown out the window.” Suguru commented before he leaned in further. Just to see how Yuuji would react. He was already stammering, poor thing. With his head no longer resting against the meat of his palm Suguru reached a hand out, in a sneaky attempt to brush up against Yuuji’s . Soft looking pink lips pulled into a smirk as those cheeks got as pink as his companion’s hair. “Is it too warm in here? Your face is all re-”
“Nope! No, everything is fine!” Yuuji spoke quickly, his eyes casting about to find a means to escape the sudden teasing he was enduring. Then he spied the little sweet Suguru had grabbed. A perfect means to take the subject off himself. “So- is that any good? I feel like I should have gotten one.”
“Do you want to try a piece?” Suguru offered as he broke some of the soft pastry apart. The treat was out stretched to Yuuji in delicately long fingers. The offer was accepted with an appreciative nod from the pink haired man. Their hands brushed against one another as he took the morsel. This shouldn’t be anything noteworthy, except the small surge Yuuji felt with bare skin touching bare skin. His senses went wild with this new information.
This feeling was very similar to what he experienced upon meeting Kugisaki. Demons knew one another by touch, they can tell when another is stronger or sometimes what type they were through small gestures such as this. Yuuji’s body became slightly rigid, his eyes cast to Sugurus hand for an extended amount of time. Enough where Yuuji’s companion took notice.
“What’s wrong? Was that not a big enough piece? Seems a little glutinous to want half my scone.” Suguru teased playfully as another genuine smile flashed on that perfect face. Yuuji cleared his throat as he tried to regain himself. He should know better than to expect one of Sukuna’s friends to be human.
“Oh- no I’m fine! I just didn’t realize you were… you know? Like me and Sukuna.” Yuuji spoke with a slight pause to find the right words. Throwing around the title of demon and what not normally didn’t bode well in public. While he was sure no one was paying too much attention to their conversation Yuuji would still rather be on the safe side.
“Really? I thought you’ve known for a while now.” Suguru seemed shocked by this sudden revelation. “I am not exactly like you and Sukuna, but I think we are similar. More than most of the other beings like us I’ve met up here.” Suguru explained, though it seemed he really had piqued the man’s interest. Golden eyes became as wide as dinner plates as his grin grew.
“Seriously!? That’s so cool! I only know one other person like me and she isn’t that close to start with. I have so many questions about everything.” Yuuji piped up as he leaned in nay across the table. His excitement was barely contained by his seat. “So do you have special powers or something? I wish I could do cool things like Kugisaki and Megumi. I’m just fire resistant and pretty strong.”
“Not every nonehuman has abilities, Yuuji.” Suguru chastised with a slight frown to his brow. Causing his companion across from him to look away as he took a small awkward bite of his scone. Before his expression turned into a more mischievous grin. “But I happen to have them. Though it’s relatively simple. I can control lesser demons. Beasts that don’t really have higher thought.”
“Whoa… that’s really awesome. You’re going to have to show me how all that works sometime- I mean if you want to.” Yuuji spoke the last bit sheepishly, trying his hardest not to overwhelm or come off too strong. But this was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. Being able to speak with someone like him, someone who may understand his struggles and little ticks.
“Of course, we can always do that next time. But we may want to find somewhere to go that doesn’t have any people around. Summoning a hellhound in the middle of the city is surprisingly frowned upon.” Suguru teased before he finished up the rest of his scone. His phone buzzed against his pocket, summoning him to his more devious endeavors. “Well it looks like I should be leaving soon. But I have time to walk you home.”
“You don’t have to, but I wouldn’t mind hanging out for a little while longer.” Yuuji spoke as he started to get up from his seat. His eyes cast to the window. “Looks like it finally started to rain, I’m glad I brought an umbrella.” He commented lightly tapping his jacket pocket. “It’s a bit small but we can share it if you need.”
With that the pair had started out of the building, Yuuji pulled out the small pocket umbrella and opened it up under the little awning in front of the shop. He placed it above Suguru’s head. Though he was right in saying it was small, meant for only one person under it. To make up for the lack of space Suguru pulled the smaller against his side, pressed up tightly under his arm. His own hand held to Yuuji’s waist to keep him close.
The pink haired man didn’t seem to mind or protest. Instead he began mindless chatter as they walked together. It was adorable how he took these gestures in stride. Physical contact seemed to be something Yuuji enjoyed from most people. He never complained about being manhandled too much. This was something already in the back of Suguru’s mind. A little detail that could be fun to explore the closer the two became.
“Suguru!! Hey, what are you doing out here? I thought you were too good for being around monke-” A voice suddenly called from a few feet behind the pair. Causing both to look at the newcomer calling out to the larger figure. Yuuji’s eyes widened when they were met with a familiar pale figure and black rounded glasses. It seemed Yuuji had stunned the man as well when he peaked out from around Suguru. “Yuuji?!”
Chapter 8: Playing With Fire
Chapter Text
“Yuuji?” Satoru questioned the name softly. His voice was a bit softer despite his surprise. His eyes looming over the hand that had held tightly to Yuuji’s waist. His smaller body was practically enveloped by the loose fitting clothing Suguru had on. The look on the man’s face was unsure, weary. Was he still upset with Satoru for giving him that glass of blood? With a soft, forced, smile Yuuji pulled slightly away from Suguru. Who seemed to look a tad bit disgruntled by all this.
“Uh- hey. Long time no see.” Yuuji spoke awkwardly as his hand gently scratched the back of his own head. Golden eyes slightly darted off to the side. It was an attempt to keep from eye contact in this extremely awkward situation. Especially when Satoru grew a bit more scornful in his expression. Not keeping that light smile he had before.
“Yeah… I didn’t know you and Suguru were close.” Satoru grumbled as his eyes narrowed onto the black haired man. His jaw tightened with gritted teeth, clenched and set in a tense manner. While Suguru could only give a cocky little smirk. His tongue jutted out at Satoru just to pour childish salt into an open wound. As soon as Yuuji gave a glance back Suguru was smiling down at him, his hand still holding tight onto the umbrella handle above both of their heads.
“Well it was a chance encounter.” Suguru played along, pretending like they hadn’t already spoken about this. Though Satoru had no clue about Sukuna’s little plan to keep him far away from Sukuna’s brother. It had become quite a perfect excuse to get close to the cute halfling.
“He’s friends with Sukuna. But I didn’t know you two knew each other either. I guess it really is a small world huh:” Yuuji spoke with a lightened tone. Pretty much standing between the two men. Clearly very oblivious to the way the pair eyes him like a perfect slice of meat between two starving wolves. Just waiting for their moment to pounce and devour him. To truly claim this ray of heavenly light as their own. Hide it away with selfish desires.
“We actually go pretty far back. How long has it been Satoru? A few hundred years now you’ve been chasing after me?” Suguru teased, his tan fingers holding tighter against Yuuji’s waist to pull him flush to his chest. Despite the downpour of rain from the gloomy clouds above, Satoru was bone dry. As if the water couldn’t even touch the man. However this comment did catch Yuuji’s attention as he looked up between the two.
“Whoa wait, you guys are both hundreds of years old??” Yuuji asked as he looked between the pair. Satoru could only give a curt nod to his words. Barely listening to Yuuji interjecting between them as he stepped his way forward. Satoru scoffed, his arms crossed over his chest as he straightened his back.
“Yes and I'm still young. Also I don’t chase after you. Who is the one that was pinning for my ass for a whole century? Pretty sure his name was Suguru.” Satoru accused before taking swift steps closer. Not only closing the gap between himself and Suguru. But also Yuuji. Pale fingers snaked over Yuuji's waist on the other side from where Suguru was holding him. “Now scoot over so I can get under the umbrella too.”
“What, no. It’s not big enough for three people.” Suguru growled his words, before pulling Yuuji even closer to himself. The pink haired man now completely squished between these two extremely hot men. His face pressed in between two very toned chests, his cheeks began to heat up further. How the hell did he even get into this position?
“I- I can always just move-“
“ NO! ” Both monsters snarled down at Yuuji. After a bit of struggle the three were now completely piled against one another under the umbrella. Even though Suguru was meant to be leaving . His pride in this was apparently too great. Yuuji watched them both before they had made it where Suguru could no longer continue. He had already stretched his time well beyond what Sukuna would normally give him. He was sure the other would understand with his request to entertain his own twin.
Satoru only grinned in pride as both of his arms tightened around Yuuji once Suguru had finally stepped out from the umbrella. There was a cocky grin that spread wide across his face. His cheeks puffed out slightly as he buried his face into those soft pink locks. The feeling was like silk mixed with cotton. Smooth and pillowy, like heaven itself had been placed onto earth.
“Did you miss me Yuuji?” Satoru asked, though those words did not hold the smile he donned prior. His tone became more solemn as he continued. “If… if you want me to leave I can. I just wanted to say I’m sorry for the last time we hung out. I didn’t mean anything malicious by giving you-“
“It’s fine.” Yuuji cut him off, his eyes forward as they both kept walking. Eyes forward, but he did not pull back from Satory. Not as his fingers held tight to the handle of the umbrella. Suguru had handed it back once he did have to part from them. “It’s not your fault… if I’m being honest I felt more embarrassed of the way I reacted. I didn’t think I would be able to talk to you again. Seriously, I was squeamish around a vampire . That’s just stupid.”
“What- no. A lot of people would have reacted like that. Yuuji, I don’t hold it against you for not being into that sort of thing. You are only a half demon.” Satoru said as his arms tightened around the man. He was sweeter than anyone deserved. More worried about how Satoru saw him over what had happened to grant such a response.
“But I’m still a demon… I think what scared me the most was the fact I couldn’t play human as much as I normally do when I was around you.” Yuuji muttered before he stopped in his tracks. His bright, sunshine-like smile turned towards Satoru as he spoke. “But I kind of want to thank you for showing me that part of myself. No matter how scary it is. Suguru even suggested showing me some things he can do. If I hadn’t had that experience I wouldn’t have the chance to meet someone else like me again.”
“You are going to start making me jealous if you keep talking about him in front of me.” Satoru grumbled as a pout pushed out those soft pink lips. “That better have not been a date you two were on.” Yuuji snickered at the childish antics of the much taller man. His head shook gently.
“Hey, it isn’t like me and you are dating either. Besides you two seemed pretty flirty with each other back there.” Yuuji teased with a smirk. Was it a good idea to play with two extremely powerful monsters in a romantic game of cats and mouse? Maybe not. But Yuuji was already enjoying the attention he was getting. The consequences of these actions can be a Future Yuuji’s problem.
“What!? How can you say that?? I was not flirting with Mr. Long-Haired-Pretty-Boy! He is like my best friend and rival at this point. We are the strongest, you know?” Satoru huffed out as he straightened up. His hands still held Yuuji’s waist. His thumb ever so gently grazed across his hips.
“Uhuh, sure. Well I think he’s pretty attractive, though you would be the pretty boy out of the both of you.” Yuuji commented just to get a rise out of the pale man. “I did finally get his number two. Maybe we can all three hang out sometime.” Yuuji spoke innocently enough. While Satoru grumbled and hissed words through a clenched jaw.
“Fine, but I’m not very good at sharing Yuuji.” Before the pink haired man could react those pale fingers traced along his jaw to tilt his head upward. They had already turned down a back road towards Yuuji’s apartment. They were nearly completely alone down this street. No prying eyes to stave away Satoru’s affections. “You’ll be mine, and so will he.” Satoru purred before completely letting go with a large smile. “Let’s get you home, it’s getting cold and I don’t want you getting sick.”
Yuuji took in a breath he didn’t know he was holding. What exactly was he getting himself into now? Playing with monsters well beyond what Yuuji could comprehend. At least Suguru seemed to be the more level headed of the pair… at least Yuuji hoped he was.
Chapter 9: Reservations
Chapter Text
The small vacation Yuuji had been placed on would come and go almost too quickly. At least for his own liking. Possibly in part due to the fact he had been getting closer with someone who was actually friends with Sukuna. Being able to go out and drink with his brother and his group would have been damn near unheard of not even a month prior. But Yuuji, Uraume, Suguru and Sukuna had gone out at least three times in those two weeks of him being off. He could get used to this new friendship, as much as Yuuji understood his twin had his own life to lead he also wanted things to be shared between them.
However, even with this longing feeling Yuuji could still say that hanging out with Suguru alone wasn’t half bad either. The man was kind to him, though Yuuji was a trusting soul. He took this kindness at face value. The way sharp smiles would barely reach the demon's eyes did not quite set off alarm bells for the pink haired halfling. He was much more enamored with having someone that tricky understood him. Understood the darker sides of himself. It had made this new world feel less foreign and imposing. Traversing such things like bloodlust and cravings were simpler when the person listening shared his experience.
Sure he could go to his brother for this sort of information, but it was much too obvious Sukuna was weary to speak about too much. He wanted his brother to stay that sweet little happy-go-lucky optimist he had always been. The balance to Sukuna’s own pessimistic nature. But with Suguru he was not given the fluffy explanation. Full of pretty words to make him feel like everything would just be okay.
Suguru was clear on the dangers, what Yuuji ignoring his cravings could really mean. So he kept it a clear point to drink with Sukuna regularly. Watch his twin at every glass he pours. Sukuna wanted to protect him, of course Yuuji knew that. He would do the same if he was in the man’s shoes. But there comes a point in everyone’s life where they can no longer stay sheltered. Where reality must set in. People die. People die for them to survive.
While Yuuji cannot stop the killings, he can minimize it. He can keep the blood from staining his own palms, from his brothers as well. He just has to keep them both in check, happy and well fed. Life is not fair, Yuuji has always known this fact. But maybe he can sacrifice enough to try and balance the scales. The lives he saves can make up for those taken by monsters like him.
The first day back at the firehouse was like a reunion all over again. Todo took him into possibly the longest tightest hug Yuuji had ever been given in his entire life. Everyone welcomed him back without even thinking twice about his absence. They did not care about his personal hardships as long as he was back and happy once more. While this could be seen in a superficial manner, that they didn’t truly care about him. Yuuji chose to believe that it was fear of prying. Of what could possibly make a man such as himself dim his light. They gave him space and Yuuji commended them for the understanding. They were all such good people, people that Yuuji would put his life on the line for in a heartbeat.
The day ran by simple enough, they were called out to a few 911 calls, but nothing too drastic. If anything the day felt nearly perfect to get back into the swing of things. With little action and time to acclimate back towards his training. Of course there were a few drills required by him due to how long he had been away from it all. But they were completed quickly, with as much vigor and care as he had shown when he first got there. No more forced smiles, soft breaths hidden away to not show weakness. Yuuji was lively and back to his energetic self.
As the day came to an end the group all sat around the entrance to the station. Most have already come back from changing into civilian clothes. There was already a buzz about celebrating Yuuji’s return. It seemed no matter where the man went he gained ties to people. They already seemed attached enough to state how much he was missed. How things just didn’t feel right those two weeks he was gone… if only they knew. If only they knew what he did behind closed doors. They wouldn’t feel this fondness. They would shun him, grab their torches and pitchforks. Up in arms over the messy that hid and played human-
“Hey come on don’t make that face brother, I bet some dinner and drinks would cheer you up.” Todo spoke as his argehand moved to give a rough pat over Yuuji’s shoulder. Golden eyes cast up to the man before he smiled. He had gotten stuck inside his own head once more it seemed.
“Yeah you know that does sound nice. Let me grab my bag-“ As Yuuji pulled himself out of the metal seat next to all his companions he sensed it. A presence he had grown to know well, almost fondly so. Then another, his head tilted as his body turned to see the two men ducking their heads through the open garage door to the firehouse. Satoru was the first to make a mocking knock to the brick pillar that held up the metal door.
“Yo, anyone home?” The pale figure spoke so casually, a charming smile made its way to his features. Suguru was not far behind him as the man stepped in as well. His hands shoved deep in his pockets. Long hair flowed down his shoulders as he brushed it away just gently enough. Both of these men were like Venus flytraps. Beautiful and alluring to look at, but hungry and awaiting one simple misstep.
“Whoa hey, we can’t just have people walking through here. Do you guys need something?” One woman asked, though it was easy to tell most were less weary of the two pretty faces that had waltzed through as if they owned the place.
“We just came by to pick up Yuuji. Sorry we didn’t mean to intrude.” Suguru was quick to correct as he gave an apologetic bow. He seemed to always act so polite when in the eye of strangers. But Yuuji knew this was not truly how the man felt about all these people. However the moment Suguru admitted who they were there for all eyes went to Yuuji. As if every single head in that place had turned to the pink haired man.
Yuuji could feel his cheeks begin to turn a soft pink, having the spotlight on himself was not at all what he was hoping for. But with an awkward clearing of his throat he stepped up closer. Satoru was not one to have much shame in anything he did. Therefore it should have been expected what happened next. But the vampire threw his arms around Yuuji without a second thought. The embrace was tightened and the pink haired man was lifted off his feet. Yuuji couldn’t help the stupid smile that spread across his own cheeks as his arms wrapped tightly around the monster. He had buried himself in close.
Much to everyone’s shock as this model of a man not only embraced oblivious little Yuuji. But that happy smile Satoru had on instantly turned to a glare as he stared down the largest of the firefighters down. The man that had placed a hand on his precious little day of sunshine. If looks could kill Todo would probably be set ablaze. It caused a chill to run through the crowd. Though Yuuji was set down soon enough. Only to have the slightly shorter man with long hair to gain a hug from the overly friendly man.
“You guys should have messaged me! I was just fixing to go out with my crew!” Yuuji complained after all the hugs were done. These two men seemed to scoff at the idea alone.
“That would ruin the surprise. Besides, you can go out with them any time right?” Satoru complained as he took up one of Yuuji’s hands.
“The last time you had a surprise for me it didn’t go so well, Satoru.” Yuuji pointed out with a huffy pout to his cheeks.
“Well I helped plan this one so it shouldn’t be as much of a disaster as the last one.” Suguru chimes in with his Cheshire like grin. Golden eyes narrowed, the gears in the halfling’s head obviously turning harshly. Before Yuuji’s shoulders slumped and he sighed.
“Alright I trust your judgment more than I trust his…” Yuuji finally admitted.
“ What!? ” Satoru practically shouted as he got all huffy. “You don’t trust me Yuuji?? I said I was sorry about the whole mix up. Come on I wasn’t trying to scare you off that time I promise.”
“I trust you… just not your judgment sometimes. You can be a bit much but at least Suguru can level you out.” Yuuji spoke in truth. Only to get more pouts and whines from this grown ass man. Something that not only Yuuji snickered about but so did Suguru. As this exchange was happening a woman from the team leaned in to Todo and asked.
“So who are the two models with Yuuji?” She spoke in a hushed whisper.
“I don’t know either one of them. I guess they are some of his new friends…” Todo narrowed his gaze just slightly on the two.
“I’m not sure they are just friends. Did you see how that pale guy looked at you?” Another muttered. “How the hell did Yuuji score them? I didn’t even know he swung that way.”
“Well I knew he was bi but I didn’t know he was into guys like that…” Todo admitted, his arms crossed tightly over his chest. “Either way I ain’t letting my brother get his heart played with by some pretty faces.” With that Todo finally called out “Are we getting drinks tonight or what Yuuji?”
“Oh well-“
“Sorry we already have reservations, how about you catch up with him next time.” Suguru was quick to cut the other off. His hand snuck slowly around the pink haired man’s waist. It was discreet enough to go under Yuuji’s radar but not Todo’s. It was a very clear ‘fuck off’ sort of gesture.
“Wait, you guys didn’t have to go through that sort of trouble… well I guess if there are already reservations we can reschedule drinks to another time right guys?” Yuuji spoke so obviously. His bright happy smile flashed at these people. These humans. It irritated Suguru to no end.
“Yeah of course. Go have fun!” One man yelled as he waved off their companion. Much to Todo’s obvious annoyance. His eyes narrowed back to his crew mate. But that was all that needed to be said before the three were off.
Chapter 10: Dinner Date
Chapter Text
“Where the hell is he?” A snarl reverberated through the small office space. The owner of the voice tapped his fingers in an agitated rhythm against the wood of his desk. Red eyes cast to the pale human that stood by his side. Their own pale pink eyes cast back before their back straightened and they spoke back.
“I texted Suguru and have called him twice now. He seems to be busy with something else.” The androgynous being spoke softly, their hands placed politely behind their back. “Maybe he will actually answer if you tried calling him, Sukuna.”
The human, Uraume, as they would be named, stood before their boss. Blood pooled at their feet as snow pale skin had been splattered with that deep crimson. The mess about the ground of some home office in some poor saps nice family townhouse. Their mark already long dead on the ground, the beast laid in a pool of its own cold lifeless eyes stared blankly at the ceiling.
“That damn hell spawned bastard better be half dead to ignore your calls. He better be six feet under to ignore mine. He has a job to do, damn it.” Sukuna grumbled as he pulled his phone from his pocket, scrolling down to the man's contacts. Taking a moment to wipe the blood from his clawed fingers, still dirtied by the sins of his recent misdeeds.
Yuuji happily followed after the two other monsters. While the place they had selected was ran by vampires, it allowed human and inhuman patrons alike. Having a special menu for those who asked, however they were not as open to having raw meat on display. Everything was hidden away from the public, including private booths for non humans to enjoy their dining. A nice middle ground that Yuuji absolutely adored.
As the three settled down in their booth, Yuuji settled down first before either man settled at his side. With Satoru to his left and Suguru to his right. Both of these men towered over Yuuji, their presence alone could be overwhelming in their own right. But Yuuji on the other hand beamed up at both men. His optimistic, bright demeanor seemed to trump all else.
“This place is nice. I have to say I'm a little jealous that both of you know of all these nonhuman ran places.” Yuuji commented as he was handed a menu by their waitress that had to be some sort of hell-born being by the slight stench of sulfur on her skin.
“I'm sure we can show you quite a few places around town. Hell you would be surprised how many celebrities aren't human.” Satoru commented as his arm stretched over the back of the cushion.
“What next, you are going to tell me all the conspiracy theorists are right and all politicians are from hell.” Yuuji joked as he leaned back, feeling Suguru’s arm sneaking over his shoulder as he leaned in.
“Surprisingly no. Mainly because it's boring as hell to be in any sort of government office position. Most monsters make create companies because they can be either a faceless puppet master, or seen as some classy businessman.” Suguru spoke before he gestured right to Satoru. Who only scoffed and gave a dramatic hair flick.
“You're just mad you couldn't make it as a rich playboy to most people. You can barely handle this place let alone somewhere that is human only.” Satoru pointed out before he leaned more against Yuuji with a coo. “But yes we can both show amazing nightclubs and restaurants.”
Both men had managed to trap the small halfling between the two of then. Yuuji had finally realized exactly how trapped he was now. Especially when dealing a soft breath in Yuuji's ear as Satoru decided to push the envelope just a bit.
Long pale fingers gently brushed against his opposite arm. The touch was featherlight, making Yuuji's skin raise in goosebumps. A shiver crawled down his spine, his throat ran dry. As flirty as Yuuji could be during text it did not convey the best to reality. Not when both men that flirted with him were extremely touchy.
As Yuuji's mind was completely preoccupied by Satoru's touches Suguru took his chance. His fingers brushed carefully over Yuuji's opposite side. While Satoru had his lips on his ear Suguru was more daring with sharpened teeth against Yuuji's unprotected throat. The pink haired man's breath caught the moment he felt it. His body shuttered with the new overstimulation situation at the hands of two full blooded monster. His cheeks burned far warmer than they should be. He was sure he had turned red all the way up to the tips of his ears.
“G-guys… I thought we were just having dinner.” Yuuji whimpered. They were still semi-public. Sure they were in a private seating area but their waitress could be back any moment with their drink order. Suguru smirked against his skin before he nipped a bit harsher, more playful.
“Who says you're not our dinner here?” Suguru joked, causing Yuuji's heart to leap up to his throat. These guys really were monsters. Satoru never tried any of this on their first date. Sure he was overly touchy but this was far different. Maybe Yuuji was wrong about Suguru being the more sane of the duo.
But just as the kisses got lower on his neck Yuuji had been saved by the phone ring. Suguru pulled back with a growl, obviously annoyed that his fun was ruined. While Satoru took his chance to turn Yuuji's head to him, golden eyes were met with those black sunglasses, before he leaned in to steal a soft kiss from his lips. It was a careful, gentle brush of Satoru's soft lips gracing Yuuji's. This sinsation lingered for what felt like an eternity of bliss, but couldn't be more than a few seconds. Satoru pulled back, not before his tongue flicked out to get one last taste of that pretty little ray of sunshine.
“You can tell us to stop at any time, Yuuji. But you have been teasing both of us for so long now it's hard not to have a little fun.” Satoru cooed as his pale thumb ran over his plump bottom lip. Parting them gently as Yuuji's cheeks burned as bright as a tomato. His breath puffed out in soft, little pants. His throat bobbed as he swallowed down all this new attention he was given.
“I-I know… I'm just not used to this sort of thing from guys- or well two guys at once.” Yuuji commented as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Not that I'm at all complaining.”
“Damn it, I'm going to have to take this. Sukuna is blowing up my phone, I might not be able to stay. I'm sorry Yuuji-” Suguru started, though he was cut off by the large doe eyed Itadori beside him. It was the most powerful set of puppy dog eyes Suguru had ever been given.
“But we just got here. Just let me talk to him.” Yuuji suggested to the surprise of the black haired man. His deep brown eyes narrowed on the other before his eyes shied away, obviously opposed to the idea. “ Please Suguru. ”
“Fine.” Suguru said in a defeated sigh as he offered up his phone. Yuuji was quick to take up the device. Yuuji grinned, his finger quickly swiped over the answer button. Pressing it to his ear with a bright happy grin. Both men watched in moderate amusement and possibly morbid curiosity. Anyone ignoring Sukuna were to gain his ire.
“ You better be laying on the ground bleeding out or so help me- ” a familiar snarl rang through the speaker in a deafening roar. But Yuuji spoke up before the man could go into more graphic detail of his threats.
“Hey Kuna!” Yuuji spoke in a chipper tone, a complete contrast to his brother's rage.
“Yuuji… where's Suguru?” Sukuna completely stopped snarling the moment he heard his brother’s voice. While it was not a soft coo, it was level and careful. Hearing care in this man's voice still sent both Satoru and Suguru for a loop.
“Uh, he's a little busy…” Yuuji spoke with his eyes scanning over said demon to his right. Suguru raised a brow to Yuuji, his eyes narrowed. Obviously trying to figure out what the pink haired man's plan was. “Anyway! We are kind of at dinner right now. Do you want me to bring you something back?”
“Dinner?? You can't be serious.” Yuuji could hear the way Sukuna pinched the bridge of his nose in his tone alone. “Tell that damn half baked bastard that I need him here in half an hour or there will be consequences.”
“Sukuna!” Yuuji snapped slightly, causing both Satoru and Suguru to tense beside the smaller. Suguru obviously got more nervous as he placed a hand on Yuuji's shoulder. This man was going to get him killed! “That's rude to say to your friend, also thirty minutes isn't enough time to order food and everything. Please don't ruin my date.”
That grip on his shoulder only tightened. Suguru’s eyes widened to Yuuji's admission of their relationship. This could end horribly, regardless of the plan Sukuna had set forth from the start. That man was a downright monster after all.
“Date…. you're on a date with Getou??” Sukuna gave a very long pause after that question. Yuuji felt himself holding his breath, allowing his lungs to burn with the anxiety of his twin’s response. “Fine. I'll see you tonight, right?”
“Mhmm! I'll see you tonight. I'll send you the menu and bring you back anything you want. Love you Kuna.” Yuuji cooed his words, acting so sweet to his brother to keep him on his good side. A true master of manipulation.
“Yeah yeah, brat… I love you too.” With that the angrier twin quickly hung up the phone. Probably around his own little group of friends and doesn't want to seem all soft. Yet even hearing Sukuna speak the word ‘love’ seemed foreign from that man's lips. He barely even admitted to liking his second hand Uraume, let alone loving anyone. Yuuji offered up the phone back soon after the call had ended. A bright smile still adorned his cheeks.
“See no big deal, he didn't even sound that grumpy that you were missing out on whatever plans he had.” Yuuji pointed out swiftly before he stretched his arms up and leaned back, pressing himself further into the cushion and between his new relationships.
“Damn, it's a shocker the two of you are even related with how opposite you both act. Also a shocker how you even get that beast to listen-” Satoru was quickly cut off by a glare from golden eyes. The embers of flame held deep within him. For a moment Satoru felt as though he had been forced to eat those words.
“He's still my brother. I know you don't like him but I'm not going to listen to you badmouth him either.” Yuuji spoke before crossing his arms over his chest and continuing. “All our lives he's always been the big scary one that people feared. But that doesn't mean I won't or haven't kicked people's ass for messing with him. He's all the family I have left.”
“I see- sorry Yuuji.” Satoru backed down rather quickly. There was something in Yuuji's tone. Something that rang more true than anything. He loved his brother deeply, making this just a bit harder than Satoru had anticipated. Part of him wondered if Yuuji would hold those feelings if he actually knew the reality of Sukuna's misdeeds. Would he even still call him a brother? Or would it crush that ray of sunshine into nothing but the ashes of a fallen star?
Chapter 11: Promise?
Chapter Text
As the trio had settled into their booth more comfortably, without the looming wrath of one of the most ruthless crime lords over Suguru’s shoulders even he could truly relax as well. Satoru and Yuuji spoke about nonsense, what TV dramas were the best, etcetera. While Suguru spoke more of the aspects of being a demon that Yuuji could start exploring. They had already made plans to start this training as soon as Yuuji had another day off. Satoru was a bit opposed to the single date until Yuuji quickly pointed out he had already been on a date alone with the man before.
Once their food arrived the trio was already quick to dig in. With the other demon opting for some rarer meats. It was practically raw in Yuuji's humble opinion. While Satoru just opted to pick some sort of dessert, it looked grand. With a perfectly cut fluffy cake and intricate decoration on top. Yuuji picked something rather normal, a noodle dish from the main menu. He assumed that was mostly for the human half of the establishment. But the pink haired man didn't mind one bit.
“Yuuji, do you want to try a piece?” Suguru offered suddenly. A piece of seared meat in some sort of sauce held out at the end of his chopsticks. The halfling wouldn't lie and say it didn't look appetizing. But… there was a weary sense of hesitation ever since the blood/wine incident. The demon seemed to recognize the standoffish behavior instantly. “It's just steak, nothing too crazy.”
“Oh. Alright.” Yuuji spoke with a nesrly sheepish tone, the fact they seemed to see through him as if he was made of glass was disarming to the man. But the gesture was not malicious by any means, Yuuji could truly feel himself beginning to relax around these men. Without much hesitation Yuuji leaned forward to take the morsel from the offered utinsals.
While his teeth did not hold the same dagger-like point of Satoru's nor were they as large as Suguru’s, they held an inhuman sharpness and shape. Subtle enough that most would not give pause upon first viewing. But the trained eye of both monsters seemed to catch it instantly. They always seemed to watch Yuuji so intently. No matter what he was doing, no matter how mundane the task he held was. Was it a simple fascination for a being as rare as himself? Did Suguru stare at his brother the same way? Or was that curious glint only held for Yuuji?
Humans had always been so quick to point out an oddity, something that was not quite right with the brothers. However Yuuji gained a more kind disposition to make up for his inhuman attributes, he supposed Sukuna had always played into these sorts of things. If he was going to be called a monster then he might as well be the worst there was. Even when they were in grade school people wouldn't mess with the angrier twin. Though Yuuji had the same abilities, they were brushed off as gifts. Both got into their fair share of fights, with Yuuji normally getting off with the lighter punishment.
Suguru feared Sukuna much like those at their school did. He held the enamored curiosity of those that revered Yuuji in the past. Nothing had really changed in all these years. As Yuuji mulled over the raw meat, he felt it was just another new step into a world that Sukuna had been practically pushed into. Yuuji enjoyed that he was no longer treated as just another human. That these two saw him for what he truly was, even though Yuuji himself didn't know what that meant quite yet.
But he so desperately craved that understanding. That ability to share this burden. As much as it scared him. As much as these instincts, these thoughts and feelings raised in his mind, made Yuuji fear for his own humanity he knew it was something he needed to experience. These two looked upon him as not a human, but one of them. He was accepted without hesitation, allowed into places people would be killed for stepping a toe into.
With every movement of teeth, the grinding and tearing of tender flesh slathered in some sort of sauce, he felt further past the point of no return. Would he see his coworkers the same? His human friends? He didn't want that to change, but he couldn't pretend he was like them anymore. It was too dangerous to hide like a child. This was the tipping point, where he knew he had to shed the skin of ignorance. Willful as it once was.
“It's really good.” Yuuji smiled up at the other demon, getting a pleased grin back. This was not forced or cold as the stares he gave to all other humans. There was a sense of curiosity held with that as well, why did Suguru seem to despise humans so much? Yuuji was half but he seemed to care little about that side. The face he had even some demon blood drew a sense of comradery.
“Do you want to try some of mine? I know it's not raw but it does have pork in it.” Yuuji offered a piece of chashu up to the demon. Who accepted it in very much the same manner as Yuuji had with the chunk of steak. His teeth ripped it apart so simply, with soft lips that deceptively hid the daggers. Black silk hair cast in gentle strands down from his shoulders. The cheeky glint up at Yuuji as he pulled back could make anyone's heart skip a beat. This man was way too attractive for his own good. Yuuji supposed the old saying was right, the devil really is beautiful.
“What!? Not fair, I want to be fed by Yuuji too.” Satoru complained as he leaned further against the man. Gaining a snicker from not only Yuuji but Suguru as well.
“Don't you despise most food besides your precious sweets?” Suguru pointed out coyly. Enjoying the little jabs he made at the Vampire’s expense. This would only serve to gain Satoru’s ire. His glare bore so heavily it practically burned through those rounded shades.
“Not if an adorable demon is feeding it tome.” Satoru cooed towards the pink haired man. Who could not hold back his laughter at such a cheesy display. He was left shaking his head as Yuuji took up another piece of meat and offered it to the Vampire.
“I don't know, you're pretty adorable yourself Satoru.” Yuuji said back with a grin, his cheeks only slightly airbrushed pink at all of this lovey dovey stuff going on. What could he say, it was cute. Yuuji had never thought of himself as the most attractive man out there, nor had he ever expected two men pining for his heart at the same time. This relationship was strange, but at the same time- none of them were exactly normal were they?
The night would soon come to a close, too soon for Yuuji's liking. Of course the younger Itadori would make good on his promise, giving Sukuna both the human and non-human side of the menu for him to choose from. With no surprise his brother picked from the secret menu, it wasn't anything too exciting. Some raw beef in sauce like what Suguru had and some expensive blood wine bottle. To which he sent Yuuji the money quickly so as to not make his brother pay for the overpriced bottle.
Satoru had to part with them after leaving the restaurant, not wanting to gain Sukuna’s ire. Which was entirely reasonable with that day's plan being entirely ruined by this date. Let alone knowing one of the men Sukuna absolutely loathed fondling his precious brother. He may actually lose it at that point.
It would be Suguru to bring him home, which Yuuji couldn't say he was upset about. The two gave idle chatter on the short walk back to Yuuji's home. His body pressed up against the talker's side, his head rested against the man's chest. Yuuji stared up to the man that had become quite a comfort for him already. Despite his standoffish nature towards most, Suguru hadn't seemed put off by anything Yuuji had done. Even though he had a bit of a ridiculous idiocy streak encouraged by Satoru himself.
“Hey Suguru?” Yuuji started as they started up the steps towards Yuuji's apartment. The man gave a small hum in acknowledgment of the smaller demon. “Thanks for tonight, it was really nice. I know I'm still pretty new to this whole demon- thing? That's strange to say since I've been one my whole life, but coming to actually recognizing it feels…” Yuuji took a pause, his fingers tightened on the front of Suguru’s clothing. “Scary, I guess is the best word.”
“If you want to slow down then we can, granted Satoru may be a bit pissy but I don't mind.” Suguru suggested, care held in his soft tone. “Any young demon coming into their power has a bit of a crisis. Especially since it's much later in your life then it normally would be.” This demon spoke before stopping in front of his door, his body turned more towards Yuuji. The back of his hand held care as he caressed over his cheek, these gestures made the man want to melt.
Those skilled digits made their way to his jaw and tilted up his chin. His cheeks became quite a bit red, these gestures had never been given in a romantic context towards Yuuji before. Despite his happy disposition, Yuuji pulled himself romantically from others. Weary of harming these people that he loved the most. Yet now, there was no worry. Suguru was strong, Satoru was strong. Yuuji could be as rough and playful as he wanted with these beings. His lips split into a smile, with a shake of his head. Yuuji carefully gripped the hand on his cheek.
“I don't want any of this to slow down. I'm really enjoying myself.” Yuuji reassured the man. Granting a little chuckle from the elder demon. Suguru leaned down slowly towards the man, enough for Yuuji to pull back if he wanted to. To back out of this entire world, of this part of himself. But the younger Itadori didn't. He leaned up to meet the man's kiss, feeling his hair tickle at his cheeks as it flowed over the man's shoulders.
Just as they were about to part the door to the apartment flew open. A slight growl raised to the happy couple’s left. Suguru was first to pull back, his shoulders hiked to the noise alone. Yuuji found it only slightly amusing before his arms detached themselves from the demon.Sukuna kept a scowl on his face, his eyes stared daggers at Suguru as if any moment he was set to pounce. His teeth were eager to sink into his throat, rip and tear this beast apart without mercy.
“Hey Kuna. Sorry I know it's pretty late.” Yuuji spoke in a kind manner to lighten the darkened air around his brother. Sukuna gave the younger a rather hard stare. His arms crossed over his chest as his back straightened.
“Did you bring me what I asked for?” The demon asked in a stiff tone. He was quickly met with a bag of goods and a bottle of wine.
“Of course! I always keep my promise.” Yuuji snickered as his brother took the items from him. Though he was quick to motion Yuuji inside, already more aggravated than he was letting on. Which was possibly the most worrying part of all this.
As the chipper brother gave one last hug to Suguru, with a very polite kiss to his cheek. The soft gestures fell from this man so easily. Yuuji waved the man off before slipping into the apartment past his brother. Sukuna gave him a slight side eye as he passed,!but with a ruffle of his fluffy pink hair Yuuji knew the man was not actually upset with him. Most of that was possibly due to Yuuji grabbing him food. Sukuna could get quite hangry.
With his brother safe inside his home, Sukuna braced himself against the door. That deep red color ran cold in his stare, his face held that rigid stare reserved only for those that had crossed this demon. It was a look Suguru had seen thousands of times before a slaughter began.
“I see you decided to take this relationship seriously.” Sukuna spoke in a cool, soft tone. Deceptive in a slight curiosity. But none of that was true, Suguru could feel his chest tightened as he nodded.
“Wasn't this the plan all along? To keep him happy and distracted.” Suguru suggested as he forced a bit of a smile. Gaging just how absolutely fucked his life was about to be.
“I suppose so, he seemed to be happy with the date.” Sukuna nodded back before he took a slight step back into his apartment. “Just don't let it interfere with your work again. Yuuji won't always be by your side to protect you.”
“Of course… sir.” Suguru could feel relief rush through his muscles as that door shut. He really had been saved by Yuuji that night.
Sukuna turned back towards the living room swiftly before plopping down next to his sunshine brother. Who was obviously still beaming from his date. Sukuna was, of course, happy to see his brother happy. However, having someone so close to his more seedy work was disconcerting. Yuuji watched his brother take out all his food before he leaned against the man. Pressing up to the man with no hesitation. The only being on this planet permitted to give such casual gestures.
“What is it brat? You had fun on your date, right?” Sukuna asked with a slight grumble as he opened up the bottle of blood-wine. “Are you still hungry? I can pour you a glass.” Sukuna offered.
“You're really upset tonight… is it because Suguru couldn't come hang out with you?” Yuuji suddenly piped up as those golden eyes peaked up like a kicked puppy.
“I am aggravated, but it will be fine. I'm glad you had fun.” Sukuna spoke as he took up a piece of raw meat into his chopsticks. While it was not his usual choice, it wasn't horrible. But that stare never went away, in fact it had worsened.
“You know… if you ever are in trouble or anything you can call me right? No matter what it is. I'm here for you, Sukuna.” Yuuji suddenly spoke up, he wanted the other to know that he didn't need to have this burden alone. They were both demons, both half human as well. No one could possibly understand better than each other. However, the sudden question caused Sukuna to choke.
“Where did that come from?” Sukuna snapped as he turned towards his brother, his eyes narrowed in what seemed to be slight panic. What had Suguru told him? Had he let it slip any details about their work? Sukuna knew he should have ripped him apart for even thinking of taking his brother out for a date like that. He was going to kill him.
Yuuji pulled back as his hands raised, palms out in surrender to his brother. A cautious smile spread over his features. Trying his damndest to calm the man.
“Hey I don't mean anything by it, Kuna. I just- you have been dealing with all this stuff alone. I want you to be able to rely on me for things.” Yuuji spoke meekly as he rubbed the back of his neck. “You're my brother, I want you to know I'm here for you no matter what.”
There was a long pause that came from Sukuna. His fingers carefully set down his chopsticks, his back straightened before he slumped back the cushions of the couch. What a sweet gesture, what a kind and generous gift. Wasted on monsters like Suguru, like Sukuna as well.
“You promise?” Sukuna spoke barely above a whisper.
“What was that?”
“Do you promise that no matter what happens you will still stay by my side? Even if I'm not a good person, like you?” Sukuna didn't look at his brother, he was scared. Terrified of the worry that may cross Yuuji's face. The way he may frown and judge those words for the truth that is held within them.
“Of course. I promise I'll be there for you. Just like you've been there for me. I love you.” Yuuji said this with no hesitation in his cadence. Causing Sukuna to smile, even if it was only for a few moments.
“You're such a damn sap, I don't know if I like you hanging out with those monsters if that's just going to make it worse.” Sukuna chastised playfully. Wrapping his arm around Yuuji's neck, pulling him in a tight headlock, much to the dismay of the man.
Chapter 12: Perfect Embrace
Chapter Text
Every couple of days Yuuji would have off, the halfling would split his free time between his dear brother and the pair of lovers he held close. Taking care not to ever mesh his worlds too heavily. It was only by the grace of some Divine being that Suguru was well equipped to stave suspicion. Though this would also mean taking on dates that were just Yuuji and Suguru or Yuuji and Satoru alone. Not that the pink haired man ever minded being doted on one on one like that. It had been a month since they had all started dating officially. While Yuuji did feel just a bit of guilt from time to time hiding everything from Sukuna, he knew damn well his brother kept his own secrets. An eye for an eye one might say.
That day had been one of the aforementioned dates where Yuuji would go out with a monster alone. Suguru had picked a rather peaceful spot outside of the city where they could host a small picnic and talk. The demon had also promised to show Yuuji how to properly wield his strength. Kept away from the prying eye of the masses could give them both an excuse to simply let loose.
Yuuji hoisted up an old, thick blanket over his left shoulder, a basket of snacks he had made just for the occasion. He took care to make more savory treats since Suguru seemed to favor those over the sweets he made for Satoru prior. Yuuji had taken his time, dipping his toe into the world that both Suguru and Satoru hailed from. There was wander and temptation just beyond the fringes of society. As if it was always just out of sight, hiding in his peripheral.
Once the hill had been conquered and the trees swallowed up the hiking trail miles back, it was time to lay out the blanket. The sun danced across the sky to peak shyly through fluffy clouds and tree branches high above. The birds here sang songs among themselves as if they were all that mattered to this world. It was peaceful here, a perfect spot to lose oneself. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. As Yuuji took in a deep breath of clean air something else hit his nose. It was stark and burned the inside of his nostrils. Like the soot of a fireplace, a few embers that still clung to their final moments. Yuuji had once hated the smell of fire, normally only accompanied by fear and despair.
With a sharp turn on his heel he was met with a soft smile upon softer lips. Dark eyes that seemed to hold knowledge and sadness, framed by sleeplessness. Yuuji didn't take a moment more to stare at this man, the man that always held such a soft spot for him. No matter that he was half of a species that was despised so heavily. Yuuji's arms flung around the other, embracing him tightly as he draped himself over Suguru. If he could warm the cold stare, bring about summer the unrelenting grasp of winter he would. In a heartbeat he would.
Suguru was quick to wrap his arms around the smaller demon, bracing his weight off the ground and against his chest. It was always with great ease that this man carried Yuuji. The halfling couldn't help but suspect that Suguru knew deep down how much he adored this sort of interaction. Always so eager to indulge Yuuji. After a few moments his feet would be placed onto the awaiting grass below, a gentle kiss placed upon his forehead in greeting. Yuuji wondered how much Suguru saw himself in him. They were of similar origin in a way. He mentioned once that he was the closest in typing to Yuuji and Sukuna's breed.
Was it lonely? Living up here all by himself?
Yuuji cupped the man's cheeks in his hands before guiding him into a proper kiss. Their lips met so carefully, but the feeling was always electric. A spark that buzzed through every fiber of the halfling’s being every time they touched. As if he knew this was exactly where he was meant to be.
“You seem pretty excited to see me this time, Yuuji.” Suguru commented mere inches away from his parted lips. His breath brushed upon his skin with the softness of moth wings.
“Of course I am. We are dating after all.” Yuuji couldn't stop the laugh from bubbling up in his throat. With that, he retracted himself from Suguru. Giving space in between them.
“I think it's cute how eager you always are. So what did you pack for us this time?”
“I actually went a little overboard. I hope you haven't eaten lunch yet. I just thought since you were going to show me all the cool things you can do I might as well show my gratitude.” Yuuji spoke a little sheepishly. He had been excited for this date ever since Suguru suggested it on their first date.
“I'm never going to pass up any food made by my adorable little boyfriend.” Suguru teased just a bit before he paused. How brow furrowed as he continued. “unless it's Satoru. I'm damn sure he would poison both of us if he tried to cook. I know you are immune but he will find a way.”
Yuuji laughed at the remark but ultimately agreed. Satoru didn't really have a taste for most foods since he had become a Vampire. The only thing the man could stomach was his precious sweets, cakes and the like. Even still, he had never once passed up something made by Yuuji. They both treated him like a gift from the heavens, as ironic as that sentiment was.
The pair settled down afterwards, chatting about nothing of any real importance as they ate. They always seemed to go into mindless chatter when they were together. Yuuji supposed Suguru didn't have this sort of relationship with Sukuna. Yuuji's twin was never good at small talk. If it wasn't important to him it was useless information and nothing more. But Yuuji would sit and talk for hours about his friend, be it the humans at the fire station or the less than human ones he went out for drinks with on occasion. Suguru didn't mind just sitting there and listening to it all.
Eventually the demon would decide to show off just a bit. He had explained his powers to Yuuji once before, he could summon and control lesser demons. Beings without a higher consciousness. The field had become a perfect place for summoning such monsters. Suguru took his time to stand, brushing off his loose clothing as he did so.
“Are you ready?” Suguru spoke with a sly grin placed upon his lips. There was always just a hint of mischievous intent behind that facade of politeness.
“Of course I am! I've been waiting forever to see this.” Yuuji encouraged the demon almost playfully.
With the small banter Suguru closed his eyes. Taking in a deep breath. The air that danced its way through the trees had broken into a run, pulling at branches and ruffling the leaves. Those loose clothing swayed and ruffled dramatically before everything felt like static. Power coursed through Suguru. Manifesting into a nearly massive monster, clad in white with bulging yellow eyes, the creature clawed its way closer to Yuuji.
It took everything in him not to flinch, this was a powerful demon. He could tell by the mass alone it could crush Yuuji in seconds, flatten him beneath its palms. With the way the creature backed down it seemed Suguru could sense the slight tinge of fear in the air.
“Holy shit…” Yuuji muttered as his words softly trailed off.
“If it's too much-”
“This is so awesome! That's a dragon! Like a real dragon!” Yuuji hopped to his feet, though his steps were calculated as they made their way closer to Suguru. He kept his boyfriend between the large beast and himself, just in case. “Can… Can I pet it?”
“If you really want to, I wouldn't let it attack you.” Suguru couldn't contain the smile on his features. The pure awe Yuuji held must have been palpable. With a very slow and careful hand Yuuji reached past Suguru towards the beast. This gained even more amusement from the demon, as his larger hand came up to ensnare Yuuji's. Taking his time to guide the smaller demon’s grasp to the top of the monster’s fur ladened head. The dragon looked nearly cartoonish in the way it moved and stared.
“Whoa, hey there big guy.” Yuuji spoke as he slowly gained confidence in his actions. Both his heads now ran through the monster's hair gently as he smiled down upon it. Suguru was right there, he had nothing to fear. “It's kinda cute actually. Do you ever ride on the lesser demons you summon?”
“There are a few, but I would probably suggest a different one for a first time flier.”
“There are more than one that can fly!? You have to let me ride one sometime! I've never even flown in a plane, let alone on the back of some big monster!”
“We can do that next time we come out here. I'm a little surprised he's taken a liking to you already.” Suguru suggested as Yuuji was nudged further by the massive dragon. Practically being cuddled into a nearly crushing grasp. Without a way to stop the assault Yuuji was pushed off his feet. Nuzzled into submission by a beast that weighed probably a ton or more.
“Ah wait! Come on, be a good boy and let me up. Please Mr. dragon.” Yuuji begged through fits of laughter. But he didn't hold the strength to really fight off the creature. Even still no fear held within him, he trusted this man with his life. “Suguruuuuu help!”
Suguru didn't exactly try to help the situation, he was much too busy with a snickering fit as Yuuji laid sprawled out in the grass, a dragon’s snout pressed firmly to his chest as it purred and rubbed its chin against him. Almost like a cat scent claiming a prized toy. Just as the demon lifted his hand to retract his summons they all felt a quite familiar presence. As if materializing out of thin air, a voice gave such a gentle coo in the most patronizing way imaginable.
“Yuuji, I never hear you call out my name like that.” Satoru purred his words as they rolled off his tongue. His hands shoved deep into his pocket as his hidden gaze stared upon not only Yuuji but Suguru as well. Yuuji couldn't help the way he lit up every single time he saw the pale man. He tried more desperately to break free, eager to greet his other lover.
“Satoru! I didn't know you would be joining us.” Yuuji called out to him, though as he was distracted with the pale figure, Suguru finally dispersed the other demon. The halfling would waste no time as he scrambled to his feet, running as quickly as he humanly could towards Satoru before leaping into swaying arms. While Suguru normally gave soft, careful embraces. Satoru was much more eager to latch himself onto Yuuji and spin him around in reckless abandonment. Which was exactly the case this time.
“Always so eager.” Satoru chimed happily, much like Suguru had before. They were polar opposites, yet also one in the same. It was something Yuuji adored greatly about his lovers.
“What are you doing here? I thought you said you were busy with a meeting?” Suguru questioned, he made his way up the grassy hill with no real hurry. Satoru, however, did not seem in the mood for letting his halfling go as his arms still stayed with an ironclad grip around Yuuji’s back. Pressing their chests firm against one another, with his feet dangling inches from the ground. I'm an odd way this was comfortable, being held so tenderly, yet also so possessively.
“It was canceled last minute, so I figured I could drop by to see what you two were up to. That aaaand ask if you wanted to come with me to meet up with Shoko and Nanami. They said they tried to call but you must have your phone on silent.” Satoru shrugged, his chin resting against the soft pink fluff that was Yuuji’s mop of hair. Not that the halfling could really protest at all. It was nice, such a touchy creature like himself relished in all affection given to him.
“Prying me away from my date is a bit rude, Satoru.” Suguru chastised softly, Yuuji hadn’t even heard the foot fall as the demon stepped up into their personal space. With the grace no man could hope to grasp. Suguru looped his arms around Yuuji’s midsection and stole him away from Satrou’s arms. The object of both of their affection’s still hovered above the grass, truly feeling no need to protest for his own freedom.
“Oh come on, I was not trying to pry anything. Can a man not hug his own boyfriend?” Satoru was quick to gripe. Though he didn’t try to steal Yuuji back. In fact he took a completely different approach to the whole situation. Satoru gripped Yuuji’s chin with delicate pale fingers. His lips drew close, the tips of sharpened fangs hidden just behind them, barely giving a glint in the sunlight. “I also heard no complaining while I was holding him either.”
“Well I like being held, it's pretty different since I’ve always been the strongest in my friend groups. Mainly because they are mostly all humans. Having it be the other way around is also super nice.” Yuuji happily explained though with the looks Suguru and Satrou shared Yuuji may come to regret this confession. They could both be quite a lot when they learned some new facts about their boyfriend. Such as when they had figured out Yuuji’s neck was a sensitive spot for the halfling. Both would take to fluster him out of nowhere by either blowing on it or even kissing at him when he least expected it.
“So Yuuji likes being manhandled?” Satoru suddenly asked, his hands inched closer to him. Suguru only tightened his grip to not let their prey escape so easily. There was a quickening of his heart rate as Yuuji realized he was trapped and just gave what he assumed to be a rather innocent statement. His cheeks grew flushed, even making an attempt to turn his face away.
“I- I didn’t say that!”
“But it was implied.” Suguru cooed, his breath lingered right against the shell of Yuuji’s ear. Causing a soft, nearly pant, of a breath to move past his lips. He could feel his heart pound harshly against his chest, Yuuji was normally never the one to flush so easily. He has experienced romance in the past, just never with men. Definitely not with two very hot men . Especially when the pair seemed to completely demand all of Yuuji’s attention.
“But- we can’t do it out here. It’s way too open!” Yuuji quickly surmised, as if summoning a damn dragon wasn’t already taboo enough and done openly in these woods. “What if some hikers come by and see us, that would be super embarrassing.”
“Hm, that is true. I wouldn’t want anyone but us to see Yuuji in a compromising position.” Satoru spoke as he rested his hand on his chin. His body turned just slightly away from Yuuji, causing his muscles to relax from a tension he barely knew he held. “I know, let’s go back to Suguru’s!”
“Why my place?” Suguru asked, though his tone held curiosity without disdain for the idea.
“Because Yuuji can’t be seen with me, people talk and gossip way too much. I don’t need his darling brother to attempt to castrate me, after all.” Satoru spoke as if it was obvious.
“What if they see you walk in with us?”
“I’ll wear a hat to disguise myself. It will be fine, Suguru.”
There was a long moment of pause as the three just stood there. It would be Suguru to break this silence, his arms keeping Yuuji’s back pressed firmly against his toned chest. He pressed his nose into the man’s hair as he spoke softly against him. His words were muffled but audible.
“Would you be okay with that Yuuji? Have you ever been with a man before?” Suguru seemed to be more concerned about taking things a bit too fast, despite Satoru’s obvious eagerness. This caused the halfling to cast his golden eyes up to the one holding him. His face was still the slightest bit red.
“I am pretty curious. But, no, I mean I haven’t done it with anyone. I’ve had girlfriends in the past but we never got very far.” Yuuji admitted without any real shame. It was just a fact of life. It always seemed his relationships were mostly scared off before they ever got to more serious territory. He was almost too happy to have been dating the pair for well over a month at that point. Sure both men could be rather heavy handed with their flirtations, but Yuuji enjoyed it. He felt desirable in a way no one else had ever made him feel.
“You’re a virgin? I’m honestly surprised, I could see girls flocking to that golden retriever personality of yours.” Satoru commented as his soft pink lips pulled into a grin. Seemingly very eager to explore this new side of their relationship. This wasn’t to say Yuuji didn’t feel the same, but that nagging thought of what Sukuna had confided in him. They way he ended up biting into his first lover… Would that be an issue here? Or would it all be okay because both Satoru and Suguru could stop him from getting too out of hand. They weren’t human after all. They could handle Yuuji being rough, even if he bit down too hard. In all reality Yuuji craved intimacy. To be loved and to love another, show his affection in ways that only his lovers would know about. All of it sounded so perfect.
“Hey Suguru? Can we go back to your place?” Yuuji finally piped up though the teasing. “I mean we don’t have to go that fast if you don’t want to but… I want to at least try something more than just kissing.”
“Of course I’m not going to say no, Yuuji.” Suguru chuckled, finally placing his lover down onto his feet. Offering his hand to him. The pink haired man did not hesitate in taking it, especially as he offered his other to Satoru. As soon as that pale hand grasped his own the world itself began to spin, while Yuuji was not the biggest fan of Satoru’s warping powers, they did come quite in handy. Suguru never seemed phased by the sudden shift in scenery. Though he couldn’t help the light scoff that bubbled up from his throat. That was one way to get them all there without being spotted by anyone. Though, before Yuuji could comment much on the new space Satoru had already decided he would waste no time getting Yuuji onto the bed placed in the middle of the room.
“Whoa, hey. Do I not get any warning?” Yuuji spoke playfully to the Vampire. His words would fall on deaf ears as they were devoured soon after escaping his lips. Satoru had started the kiss in a heated fashion, already plunging his tongue past Yuuji’s teeth to lick at the inside of his mouth. He was already like a starving animal, needy with desire and lust. But even with this, Yuuji didn’t feel the need to squirm away. In Fact his eyes shut softly as he leaned into the kiss. Opening up his mouth and inviting the other in willingly. What was the old wives tale? A vampire must be invited before entering a domicile? That sure didn’t seem to hold true with Satoru, not by a long shot.
As the heated kiss kept going Yuuji could feel the weight of the bed shift to his left. A dip in the mattress as large, skilled hands began to roamed up his side and over his chest. Even if Suguru had been holding back, he was just as eager as Satoru to get even a taste. Yuuji could barely catch his breath as Satoru pulled himself back. Spittal trailed from their parted lips, leaving Yuuji red faced and gasping for air. It was hard to keep up with a monster that really didn’t need to breathe. But Satoru didn’t seem to be done with him yet. Somewhere in the kisses and touches the vampire had discarded his sunglasses and unbuttoned his shirt. Golden eyes trailed over that enchanting face and then his body, to say Satoru wasn’t godlike in his attractiveness would be a lie.
“You can’t keep all of his attention to yourself.” Suguru chastised softly, which Satoru happily corrected as he tilted Yuuji’s chin to the left. Gaining another skilled pair of lips dominating his own. Suguru happily leaned into the deeping kiss, tasting not only Yuuji but Satoru as well in the act.
“I think he’s already hard.” Satoru purred, as he pushed his hand forward to the front of Yuuj’s pants. Already so bold as to start rubbing him through his jeans. Before the halfling knew it, he was being kissed right where his neck and ear met. “ You are loving this, aren’t you? Do you think we can make you cum just from kissing alone?” There was a slight chuckle to his words before thos sharpened teeth barely nipped at his ear. “Maybe a bite or two? I’ve never bitten a halfling before.”
Suguru had pulled back from his conquest over Yuuji’s mouth at this point. Maybe it was to let him respond to the question. Or finally get oxygen to his already swimming mind. This all was so extremely over stimulating, yet also much too erotic for Yuuji to want it to end. He took a deep breath, his chest heaving as he just now seemed to register his shirt had been pulled up to expose his pecs and chiseled stomach. Yuuji was a very muscular man, he had to be for his line or work, which both his lovers seemed to enjoy the sight of.
“Y-you can only bite me if I get to bite you back, got it?” Yuuji manages to gasp out through small pants. Yes his face was as flushed as his hair, but he could still give a tease back. The grin on his face must have said it all. Since both Suguru and Satoru could just stare.Yuuji was not a meek man, he was not fragile. He refused to play as if he was, he could take whatever they had to give him and dish it out just as well.
“Yes, sir.” Satoru responded playfully. Though he made sure to lower his bite, keeping in mind who may recognize the mark from a vampire. Satoru pulled back the collar of Yuuji’s shirt from where his shoulder and neck met. Taking his time to kiss the tender flesh as Suguru positioned himself behind Yuuji. Starting to touch him through his jeans once more. He had already shed most of his own clothing at this point. To see his form from under all those baggy clothes was divine. Suguru was toned like Yuuji had expected, though much more broad than Satoru was. Seemingly needing more muscle than his thinner counterpart. He had also decided to take his hair down, it was so long as it flowed over Yuuji’s shoulder just slightly as Suguru rested his chin opposite from where Satoru was preparing to bite.
“Just relax, we are going to make you feel amazing.” Suguru cooed to his lover, his fingers had already started to undo the button to Yuuji’s jeans. Allowing that cloth prison to no longer restrict his already hard member. Yuuji looked down at himself as the demon’s hand expertly began to stroke him. Slow, teasing as they went from the tip of his cock all the way down. “You’re pretty desperate to come already.”
“Suguru, don't tease me like that- ah!” Yuuji tried to keep himself steady but a soft whine bellowed from his throat much faster than he could stop it. A noise he didn’t even know was physically possible to escape him. This was not completely what Yuuji had expected when agreeing to this, but he sure wasn’t complaining by any means either. As Satoru seemed to be satisfied with a spot to bite, Suguru began his own nipping with much larger teeth. This new sensation paired with being stroked had made it impossible for Yuuji to think about anything other than trying not to cum right away.
Both men bit down at once, a shock of two very different types of pain ran through Yuuji. One being so sharp it felt almost like medical needles, while the other felt like it threatened to tear right through his throat. Even with this pain Yuuji let out a loud, desperate cry as he came into Suguru’s skilled hand. His body twisted and he saw stars from such a euphoric release. It seemed both monsters enjoyed his taste as well as they gave a groan to the blood that pooled into their mouths. Suguru had bitten higher on Yuuji’s neck, since Sukuna may get mad but won’t kill him over it. Unlike Satrou’s mark. It would take a good moment before both demons would pry themselves away from Yuuji. Licking at the wound as the man went limp against Suguru’s chest.
“You taste sweeter than I imagined.” Satoru cooed before Suguru seemed to pipe up as well.
“That is a pretty unique taste, it’s amazing.”
“Hey, I’m not going to always be on the menu.” Yuuji chuckled, but didn’t bother sitting up. He just enjoyed the ride from his orgasm. Though it would be short lived as Satoru would pull the smaller demon in, forcing Yuuji to straddle his hips. Now not even wearing anything on his bottom half. While Satoru still had pants on at the very least. He positioned Yuuji where he was now facing Suguru, with both his arms held back by the vampire.
“Doesn’t he look good stradling me like this?” Satoru asked his other lover, grinning as he motioned to Suguru. “Lets get him all prepped, hm? What do you say Yuuji, want to go for a ride?”
“A ride?? Like this?” Yuuji spoke, maybe a bit awestruck at just how quickly things were progressing.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Satoru doesn’t get too carried away.” Suguru reassured, though Satrou seemed to grow slightly annoyed at what the man was implying. He leaned over Yuuji, closer to the demon’s face.
“Don’t act like you haven’t been thinking about it too.” Satoru huffed but quickly turned this into flirting as he was now inches from Suguru’s face. “Come on, I’ll get him nice a prepared for you to fuck him too. Maybe after we could have a go with each other. See who really is the strongest?”
“You’re a dangerous flirt, Satoru.” Suguru cooed before leaning in and kissing the man right over Yuuji’s head. He knew they had history together, but they always seemed to keep their romance more geared towards Yuuji than one another. But watching them kiss, watching them interact more like lovers made Yuuji feel something. Was it lust? Or was he just happy to see the two men he had grown so fond of give such affection towards one another? Who could say.
“What? It’s not like it would be the first time.” Satoru shrugged this off rather easily, though there was a moment of a genuine smile. Something softer, sweeter in gaining the kiss from the other demon. Those pale hands still kept to the halfling's wrist to keep him in place. After kissing Suguru he moved to place those soft lips against the back of Yuuji’s throat. With a feather like softness and care. “Is this too much? Do you want to stop?”
“What? No, of course not.” Yuuji was quick to turn his head, eyeing those bright blue orbs. Eyes that shone in the dining light of the room. He really could look imposing with such an intimate and vulnerable setting. But Yuuji had not once thought he could be in danger with these two. Even being half human, even having teeth in his throat, he trusted the pair. Smiled at them, willingly tilting his head to the both of them. “Just go a bit slow at first, okay?”
With this confirmation that Yuuji was not only willing to be intimate with both monsters but elated by the prospect the pair took their time positioning Yuuji just right to be the most comfortable. Placing soft pillows up for Yuuji to lay his chest against, his hips raised high up off the bed. His legs spread wide, with his back arched to accommodate the rather degrading position. Yuuji would admit to being just a little bit embarrassed by it all, especially with both his lovers looming over him. Satoru carefully placed his hand over his exposed back, down his spine with smooth fingers. Unlike the calloused hand that pushed through Yuuji’s soft pink hair. Suguru settled in front of him as Satoru promised to be gentle with prepping their innocent lover.
All Yuuji could do was shutter at the amount of hands that had taken to touching him. He had never experienced this sort of attention before. The tender touch of Suguru trying to steady him, along with that large hand grope over his left peck. While Satoru was busy kneading and spreading his ass to get better access. Yuuji’s fingers gently gripped at the pillow below him, his eyes nervously darted off to the side. His breath filled his lungs, focusing on this sensation instead of the cool prodding fingers. Satoru had already lubed up his fingers, the slick sensation was foreign as it prodded into the most intimate part of the pink haired being. Gently coaxing its way into him, touching at the walls of his entrance as another demon carefully refocused Yuuji’s attention upwards. Dark eyes that always held softness towards the halfling gave more comfort under their watchful gaze.
As the prodding appendage dove deeper Yuuji’s body tensed. A pitiful whimper left the man, reaching out his hand to grip tight onto Suguru’s arm for comfort at this new feeling. The prodding only went further, feeling it search and press at his walls was strange, it burned and made his stomach feel strange. Not until it was so deep that Yuuji was sure it was hitting into his stomach did he feel a sudden jolt of pleasure. It shot straight to his dick, making him groan in pleasure and his body squirm under the feeling.
“Oh? Here, Yuuji?” Satoru cooed as he deliberately brushed up against that spot, more aggressively as he pushed into it. Causing the poor thing under him to give another reluctant noise. He pitifully nodded his head, it was the only reply he could make. His eyes became half lidded and dazed within moments of Satoru finding his sweet spot. Suguru was the one to draw his attention next, carefully coxing him more onto his hands as well. Long fingers pulled the smaller’s face into the crook of the demon’s neck. Brushing his long hair away from tender flesh.
“You did say you would bite back, right? Go on then, it should help for the next steps.” Suguru cooed to him, encouraging the smaller. Yuuji felt hesitant for good reason. He had never really bitten into anyone, he had thought about it after that first time he drank human blood. It ran through his mind so idly and freely when he was near humans if he hadn’t properly eaten in some time. He hated these thoughts, loathed himself for having them. But- this was an invitation. So happily given. Yuuji opened his mouth, allowing his sharpened teeth to press against skin. Warm, tender flesh that gave way begrudgingly against his force. It was nothing like the knife through butter split that Satoru and Suguru had. Just as Yuuji had fully sunk his teeth into Suguru’s throat, Satrou had pulled his fingers completely out of Yuuji.
Which had confused the halfling, however his attention had been taken up by the blood that rushed into his mouth. It was different from the sweet taste of honey that came from humans. This was rich, nearly overwhelming in its density. Yuuji almost pulled back then and there until he heard Satoru request Yuuji brace himself. The man had already stripped himself of his clothing, lining his completely hard cock against Yuuji’s entrance. With possibly a bit too much enthusiasm, Satoru pushed himself into Yuuji. Having the pink haired man give a loud, muffled yelp around Suguru’s throat. Yuuji had never felt so full in his life. The feeling alone made his eyes water and his body tense.
“Shh, deep breaths.” Suguru coaxes as his fingers run carefully through his hair. Yuuji pulled back, red ran down his chin as he leaned his weight more against the solid form of his lover. The man’s thumb would take care to wipe the blood away from his chin. After a bit more checking in with Yuuji, Satoru would start rolling his hips into the man.
“Fuck- you’re so tight.” Satoru groaned, careful as he started to search for that sweet spot once more. His cock was much thicker than his fingers, well encompassing his insides. Yuuji was sure if Satoru moved too sharply he could rip him in half. As Satoru slowly started to thrust into him Yuuji couldn’t stop the desperate gasps that came from him, the moans and noises he never knew he could make.
“Th-there! Satoru, please right there!” Yuuji whimpered his begging words as that thick length finally brushed against his prostate. He was sure that would of course only grow Satrou’s inflated ego hearing Yuuji beg for him like that. But really, he didn’t care about that at the moment. He just wanted the pleasure that Satoru was now pounding into him. Hitting that spot over and over again. His fingers gripped so harshly at Yuuji’s hips, he was sure there would be finger-like bruises against his skin. As he reveled in this new pleasure, Suguru took it upon himself to silent those desperate cries. His lips trapped Yuuji’s, kissing him deeply as he whimpered and writhed between the two men.
Suguru decided to have his own fun with the other as his hand moved back to stroking Yuuji as he was fucked ruthlessly. He was already painfully hard without the teasing fingers stroking at him. Yuuji pulled back with a gasp before giving more desperate begs to Suguru’s name.
“D-don’t! Suguru, don’t touch there!” Yuuji whimpered, he was so close to cumming there was no way he could last even five more minutes with this over stimulation. Satoru could possibly feel how close Yuuji was as his thrusts became more erratic and desperate. Trying to get Yuuji to cum quickly as well. Within a few moments of that ruthless pounding Yuuji came against Suguru’s hand and felt Satoru completely release inside him. But there was no time for the halfling to recover, soon after Satoru pulled out Suguru had Yuuji flipped onto his back, pinning him down against the bed as a predatory grin passed over his lips.
“My turn.”
Chapter 13: Close Call
Chapter Text
Sukuna sat on the old shabby couch that Yuuji had demanded they keep from their first ever apartment. Some sentimental bullshit along with the ‘If it isn’t broke don’t fix it’ mentality. It dipped in the middle more than it should, ragged and tattered at the ends. It possibly didn’t help as Sukuna’s sharpened nails dug deep into the left arm of the seat. His eyes trained on the door as his phone was tossed haphazardly onto the coffee table. He had called at least twenty times, left countless texts and voicemails at this point. Yet, Yuuji hadn’t even bothered to glance at his phone. Normally Sukuna wouldn’t think twice about the sheer airheaded abandonment for his own brother’s worry. But it had been nearly twenty four hours since that idiot walked out of their apartment. A full day's time and he had not heard even a peep from that cheery fool.
What made things worse was that Sukuna couldn’t even contact his little underlings to hunt Yuuji down like he would damn near anyone else. Suguru was supposedly having a day off for some personal bullshit and Uraume couldn’t seem to get a hold of Yuuji either. The frustration that arose throughout his veins was infuriating to say the least. Sukuna had even gone so far as to reach out to that idiot Todo. Yuuji’s self proclaimed “brother”. Yeah fucking right. A poor excuse of an obsession for Sukuna’s brother . Regardless of his feelings towards the human, he also had no clue where Yuuji was. So, the elder twin took the most logical course of action in all this. Storm his brother’s good for nothing fake as shit boyfriend’s place demanding Suguru help him in his search.
While it was unlikely Yuuji was in any sort of deadly parallel, Sukuna didn’t trust anything with the likes of Gojo knowing exactly who Yuuji was related to. That fucker had the audacity to show his face on Sukuna’s door step just to prove he knew where the monster lived. While Sukuna did not allow it to show at the time, he wasn’t the most comfortable with a beast like that sniffing around that closely to his personal life. The only thing in Sukuna’s life that he couldn’t afford to lose. Once the halfling had climbed his way up the steps to Suguru’s humble abode he used all his strength to hit against this man’s door, caring little for the damage he inflicted. He could pay for it later if he were to actually upset the demon.
Even with Sukuna standing there he could practically smell the sulfur radiating through this place. The home of a full blooded monster. How irritating a stench to permeate his nose uninvited. Sukuna did not envy the pure blooded beasts, not for their strength or life spans. He simply found them slightly less aggravating than the average human. Uraume being the only exception. They were still bound by trivial things like care and companionship. If any one of his underlings betrayed him Sukuna would not hesitate to take their lives, they were tools, puppets for his own amusement. Yet… Yuuji was the only being he still sought the approval of.
Maybe this was simply his ego, finding his twin to be an extension of himself in some way. Of the same flesh and bone they had always stood alongside each other. No matter what Sukuna never swayed his brother into his viewpoint. Allowing Yuuji to believe there was some sort of merit in helping others. But this care, the way he fought so hard to see the good in them. It worried the elder twin. One day Yuuji would get burned, his soul set on fire by those he claimed to love. Would he come running to Sukuna to help pick up the pieces? Yuuji promised to never leave. Sukuna wanted to believe those words but it all felt empty.
It wouldn’t take long for that unrelenting assault to gain the ire of this estate’s owner. Feet thumped against the hardwood just behind the door before a large built tall figure stood before Sukuna. His long hair slightly disheveled as he only wore some loose pajama pants. His neck was covered in blooming purple marks along with puncture wounds given by blunt teeth. Teeth that were very much akin to Sukuna’s own. Those red eyes would only harden at the sight alone. Then the scent of his brother that practically covered this man. It wafted from the doorway like an insult.
“Well that answers one question.” Sukuna spoke with a slight scoff. While this was not an ideal situation Sukuna couldn't say he was surprised. “I didn't think you were actually serious at pursuing this more than a surface level relationship. Guess I was wrong.”
Suguru stood a bit stunned for a moment. It seems he didn't consider being caught with his metaphorical pants down. Those beady brown eyes stayed narrowed on Sukuna before he straightened himself out. His hand moved to rub from the back of his neck to the side, as if in a vain attempt to cover the marks gifted by his nightly activities. If he even showed a modicum of shame Sukuna would possibly be more angry than having pride in those marks. If he had the balls to sleep with his boss’s brother then he should be at least man enough to stand up to the halfling. If not then the demon didn't deserve going within spitting distance of the Itadori household.
“Sukuna…” Suguru started, yet forming words seemed to be a bit difficult at the moment.
“Don't bother. I'm not mad at you fucking my brother, I'm much more pissed that you didn't answer your damn phone. I wouldn't have even showed up if you both didn't ignore me. I have shit to do today and this fiasco is cutting into my work.” Sukuna hissed every word. In truth he was still rather protective of the sunshine twin, but he also understood that Yuuji was an adult and could make his own choices in who he dated and slept with. Sukuna also didn't want to get on Yuuji’s bad side because he beat his boyfriend into a bloody pulp.
“You're not… I mean- Yuuji is still asleep. Do you want me to grab him?” Suguru seemed unsure in his question, his eyes darting to the interior of the place. Something just felt off in that gaze, weary for what Sukuna may see. With suspicion now on high the elder twin shook his head.
“I'll get him myself, he's a damn pain in the ass to wake up.” Sukuna spoke this without a second thought, as if those words alone would gain him entry into Suguru’s home. When the other did not yield immediately Sukuna made it a point to shove past him. Granted he had never been one for boundaries in any sense of the word. He took what he wanted and cared little for what he harmed or left behind in his wake. Of course Suguru did not take this lying down. At least not completely
“You know this is technically breaking and entering.” Suguru kept his tone light, nearly exasperated and too tired to deal with the situation. Though there was a tension in his shoulders, his muscles were a bit too tight, his body straight and guarded. What exactly was he hiding in here? Sukuna glared about as he walked through the living area, this was not the first time he had been here.
“Wait a minute, I’m not even sure if Yuuji is dressed.” Suguru urged attempting to stop all of this. Only causing Sukuna to feel more urgent in seeing his brother.
“We are identical twins. It’s not like it isn’t anything I haven’t seen before.” Sukuna tried to keep the bite from his tone. Not to show his obvious agitation with the strange way the demon was acting. There was no stopping the man on his warpath it seemed. Not with the already shaky relationship the two shared. While they had tried to keep things rather professional it was much harder with Yuuji being thrown in the mix. Sukuna shot back a warning glare as his hand kissed the brass knob of the bedroom.
A few minutes prior
The relentless booming bangs reverberated throughout the small home. Causing Yuuji to practically groan in frustration. His face buried deep into the warmth he was currently clinging to. His nails deeper into the solid form he was attempting to meld against. Another being behind the man wrapped itself against Yuuji, sandwiching him between a cool embrace and comforting warmth. His eyes would barely crack open as the rattling fist against wood refused to let up for even a second.
“Who the fuck is that?” An irritated growl reverberated against Yuuji’s ear from behind. While the form he clung so heavily to gave an equally aggravated snarl.
“No one should be coming around today, I called off work.” Suguru grumbled back, his voice was low in frustration. Yuuji could feel this tone throughout the man’s entire being as he practically laid against his chest.
“I don’t want to get uuuup.” Yuuji joined in with a soft whine. His arms only tightened around Suguru in a silent demand that he stay put. Even through all the knocking that refused to relent. Suguru would shift his weight around despite the hold, making it rather obvious that he planned on taking care of the intrusion. Making his little halfling boyfriend whine more in the absence of warmth. Though he had less time to complain as the ironclad grip from behind pulled him into a solid, cooler, form.
“You don’t have to babe. I’ll lay here with you if you want to go back to sleep.” Satoru purred directly into Yuuji’s ear. Taking his time to give a careful nip to the shell, as one of his hands running down his tan skin. Completely littered with bites and marks from both of his lovers. Yuuji couldn’t help the grin that enveloped his lips, though he still reached out his hand to Suguru.
“Hurry back, please?” Yuuji asked as his golden eyes stared up into those deep brown pools. He gained that rare genuine smile in return. It was always so soft and careful, just for Yuuji and Satoru. Suguru always threw out surface level false grins. Something that was meant to be disarmingly polite. There was none of this here. Yuuji got to see both of them for just who they were. With all the grit and glam wrapped up into these two amazing beings.
“Yeah, I want to get crepes!” Satoru huffed out as he grinned up to Suguru as well. His nose buried into Yuuji’s hair as those ethereal blue orbs stared up at the other beast. “My treat of course.”
“Yeah yeah, just give me a minute to take care of this asshole.” With that Suguru took his leave out of the room. Allowing Yuuji to completely relax into the soft bedding and Satoru’s sweet embrace. The halfling carefully turned himself around to bury the rest of the way into Satoru. That smile never left his features.
Present Moment
As the latch to the door clicked Sukuna barely gave a glance back at the owner of this place. Barely caring for his host’s obvious concern, though the sight Sukuna was greeted with was not one either had expected. Yuuji’s arms raised high above his head, his mouth wide open in a yawn. Gently, he rubbed his eyes in an attempt to ward away the sleep from them. With an almost half awake voice Yuuji called out, though not to the man that had walked in the room.
“Suguru- wait… Sukuna?!” With tension in his stance his eyes widened before darting about the room and then over his own form. What exactly was he searching for? Sukuna supposed it was his lover, while Yuuji did look as though he had been attacked by a rabid animal there wasn’t anything actually surprising. Sukuna had known Suguru long enough that the eagerness was to be expected.
“Shut it brat, you’re always too damn loud in the mornings.” The elder twin chastised. His nose wrinkled slightly as he stepped further into the room. It reeked of sex and sweat, he really didn’t want to think too deeply on this topic, he was there for a reason after all.
“Yeah, well- what do you want? You can’t just barge into someone’s house unannounced. It’s rude Sukuna.” Yuuji grumbed, his eyes glanced over to the doorway, giving an apologetic smile to his boyfriend. It seemed that the nicknames were gone, he really wasn’t happy seeing Sukuna at all.
“I came here because I thought you had disappeared on me and wanted Suguru to help in the search. You didn’t even send a message saying that you weren’t coming home last night. I was fucking worried you idiot!” Sukuna would snarl his final statement, some semblance of an actual emotion in his tone. Worry and care all masked by fury. A rage that held in those deep red eyes that contracted the softening golden pair.
“I- should have texted you, yeah… But my phone died before I had a chance. I’m sorry to make you worry.” Yuuji would speak softer, he cast his gaze down at the bedding as his fingers gripped onto it. Even through Sukuna’s peripherals he could see Suguru watching this display closely, he really had no right to be in the middle of this.
“You should have. But that’s not the only reason why I’m here.” Sukuna started his methodical steps closer. His eyes narrowed upon the twin as anger seeped from his very being. Yuuji began to shrink under the weight of his brother’s eyes. He knew when he fucked up, while it was rare for Sukuna to actually get cross with him, the ramifications were still utterly brutal. Even Suguru seemed conflicted on if he should be stepping in. But he didn’t have the time to debate as the elder was already standing at his bedside, hand raised as he gave the harshest, loudest hit to the back of Yuuji’s head. The smack reverberated through the room as Yuuji recoiled into himself with a pitiful whine. Sukuna could see the way Suguru glared, his hand gripped at the doorway, the only thing stopping him from jumping at his boss for attacking Yuuji. Good.
“OW! You jerk!” Yuuji cried out as he rubbed at his skull, before he had time to really recover something had been pressed against his cheek. Shoving his face to look to the side and ignoring all want to nurse his new injury.
“If you are going to play with the big dogs you have to toughen up Yuu. I got you this since you insist on hanging around these bottom feeders.” Sukuna explained as the item was snatched from his hand. His eyes slightly misty from the hit, but he refused to let Sukuna see any tears spilt. That would be an admission of weakness that neither brother would show over some simple hazing.
“Oh shut up, if I had pants on I would be kicking your ass right about now.” Yuuji growled, though his fingers were diligent in opening the box. Tossing the top off to the side and across the carpet. At the opening Suguru cringed alone, his nose scrunched and his body recoiled.
“Is that…” Suguru didn’t get very far with his question.
“Silver, yes.” Sukuna answered without missing a beat.
“You can smell silver? That’s kinda cool actually.” Yuuji spoke as he pulled out the trinket. Much to Yuuji’s surprise it wasn’t something more practical like a knife or dagger. Insead it was a shiny pair of brass- or in this case silver knuckles. “Aren’t these a little illegal?”
“I’m pretty sure so is drinking blood. I know you, Yuuji. You would rather fight someone hand to hand, this will at least level the playing field.” Sukuna explained as he rolled those red eyes. “I was planning on giving them to you yesterday, not in front of your demonic boy toy. They are not only silver but blessed. If he so much as brushed against those he would burn.”
“I guess that is a fair point… Thanks Kuna.” Yuuji gave him a little smile, it was a bit of a surprise to even Suguru. “Oh, me and Suguru were going to grab crepes, I can get you some too if you want.”
“You know I don’t like sweets. Just- Keep your damn phone charged or next time I swear to god when I have to track you down I’m going to kill you.” Sukuna grumbled, realizing he won’t be able to steal Yuuji away quite yet. “Also Fushiguro wanted to talk to you. Something about finally ‘doing it’. Whatever the hell that means.”
Yuuji paused a moment before an excited look filled his eyes, he was practically bouncing on his heels. He accepted the gift, with a hug and a few words the twins would part again. As if Sukuna hadn’t just given both Suguru and Yuuji a damn heart attack. Not that it mattered, that was Sukuna’s job. To protect the last bit of family he had left. He had long since realized there was no stopping Yuuji down this path, but he could give the halfling the tools to not get completely fucked over.
Eventually Yuuji will realize this life was never meant for the likes of a bleeding heart. While Sukuna could not stop the blow, he may be able to soften it. Even if only a little
Chapter 14: Full Moon
Chapter Text
“Megumiiii!!!”
“You’re late.” Megumi grumbled as he watched his best friend excitedly skip his way closer from the sidewalk path leading to their meeting spot. A small diner they all had come to frequent ever since the Itadori twins had moved to town. Yuuji gave a near bashful smile at the fact he was late. Seeming quite apologetic at the very least.
“Yeah, I’m really sorry about that, I got hung up with Suguru.”
“Your new boyfriend right? I’m not surprised, you smell like soot.”
“I- I do?” Yuuji took the chance to bring the arm of his jacket to his nose and take a deep breath in. Maybe he had gone nose blind to his partner’s scents on his skin. He was really surprised that Megumi hadn’t picked up on Satoru’s as well with that nose of his. Yuuji wasn’t sure if werewolves just always had the best nose’s out there or if Megumi was overly critical of the scents his friends gave off. “I’m sorry, does it really bother you? I can head home and shower.”
“Nah it’s fine. I’m just not used to you hanging out with any demon besides Nobara.” Those green eyes cast away as he said this, his hands dug deep into his pockets. “Much less one of Sukuna’s friends.”
“Suguru is a nice guy. I like spending time with him.” Yuuji nearly felt the need to justify this. The tone used seemed almost patronizing, as if he wasn’t a good judge of character. But his friends had always been the overprotective sort. All of them. While it would be nice, damn near helpful, to have such a tight knit support network. At times Yuuji questioned just how they saw him, if they really thought he was that helpless. He wasn’t human, he wasn’t a meek figure that couldn’t hold his own in a fight. Yet, at times, it felt as though that was all his brother and friends saw. Suguru may be physically stronger than him, but that didn’t make him helpless. Or less of a man for that matter.
“I’m not going to judge him too much since I haven’t met the guy. I just know the type of company Sukuna keeps around.” His tone didn’t convey a lot of hope in that statement. Almost just as condescending as the first, a cheap way to keep out of an argument. But then there was a relaxation of Megumi’s shoulders, his expression softened slightly. “As long as he makes you happy.”
“He does… I’ve learned a lot since we’ve started dating. Not just about other demons but about myself.” Yuuji wasn’t sure if he was speaking to Megumi or himself when he said this. All these different elements of his lineage. Pieces of the monster he held within coming together, molding into the more human side of himself. It felt right. As if he no longer had to run from the urges that gnashed their teeth just under the surface. He could be as rough and as boisterous as he saw fit with both his partners. There was no worry behind his own strength. “But you didn’t call me here to talk about my love life! So you finally decided to grow a pair and ask Sukuna out?”
“Uhg, can you not word it like that?” Megumi groaned as he slid into the shop, the sun still held a bit high in the sky, not quite time for it to start dipping over the horizon line. Those emerald eyes gave one last look to the skies before the pair made their way up to the counter. A light pink dusted pale cheeks as megumi lowered his tone. “I just thought, since you are both here and settled, now was the perfect time to ask him.”
“Because months ago we weren’t settled in.” Yuuji teased lightly, but stopped it all once they had to make their order. Only ordered a drink for himself since he had already eaten with Satoru and Suguru before meeting Megumi. It almost seemed as if most of his time was monopolized by the pair. Yuuji would have to start making up a better schedule so just him and his friends could share some time together. With their order the pair would head back towards an empty booth at the very back of the restaurant.
“Are you going to listen to my plan or keep berating me?” Megumi spoke with a hardened scowl. His cheeks already airbrushed in the lightest pink. Yuuji always found his friend extremely precious, especially when he became flustered like this, but he also knew relentless teasing would probably end up in Yuuji getting smacked in the back of the head. So he relented quickly. “Anyway-” Megumi started as he took up his black coffee into his hands. “I wasn’t planning on some grand declaration. I know damn well Sukuna isn’t exactly the romantic type. So maybe if I just ask him directly-”
“Bluh, that’s so boring!” Yuuji cut off this line of thinking, his cheek pressed against his arm as he leaned on the table. That golden gaze went up to his friend. “Sukuna is head over heels for you, no matter what he is going to say yes. Why not make it a little more special than that?”
“Alright fine, what do you suggest? He’s your brother after all.”
“Hm… that is a hard one. Because you are right, he doesn't care about flowers or sweets. But you know what he does like? He likes good food! Make him a home cooked meal!”
“You know I can’t cook…” Megumi spoke with a frown as his lip jutted out just slightly. He had always been the king of an irritated pout.
“I don’t mind helping with that. We can prepare something easy, then you can heat it up before he arrives.” Yuuji suggested as his grin only brightened towards his best friend. “The tricky part is his schedule. We will have to find a day when he and I are both not busy. But I’m sure I can prod around for some information.”
“You’re… seriously willing to go that far to help me?”
“Of course, you're my best friend after all.”
With this operation The Date was in the works, Yuuji had already decided that he would be helping Megumi at least learn the basics in the kitchen to impress Sukuna. Regardless of him helping with the main course, these were skills everyone should know. The pair would go on rambles for hours as they sat and drank their coffee. It was a bit late for that sort of thing, seeing as the sun had already started to set over the horizon. This was pointed out casually by Yuuji as his eyes caught the light of the sun directly in his eye. Megumi would lean back in his seat, the empty glass cup placed gently in front of himself. Those green eyes cast towards the setting sun, the green in them accentuated by the soft golden rays.
“I should probably head home, it’s a full moon tonight.” He lamented, it was obvious he had wanted to spend more time with Yuuji. Between all their busy schedules and love lives they rarely had time to just sit and talk. Yuuji couldn’t help the soft smile that graced his features.
“How about I walk you home. Just in case you don’t quite make it.” Yuuji suggested, gaining no protest to it either. It wouldn’t be the first time Megumi had changed in front of him, or even the first time it caught both of them by surprise. Being a werewolf could come as a hindrance sure, but as long as one was considered in their “pack” it was safe to be around the monster. They found this out rather quickly, Yuuji about had a heart attack when a massive black and white beast rubbed itself against the man, tail wagging like a complete idiot. It was actually really cute, Yuuji had never let Megumi live it down either.
It was their first year of high school, Megumi had invited Yuuji over to stay the night with him, his father and his half sister. His mother had been the one to pass down her werewolf blood to Megumi, sadly she herself had passed at his birth. This sudden revelation came as a shock to every single person in the house. It was always assumed Megumi never gained the curse until that night. With his father being the most unsure on what to do, believing Megumi had gone feral with all the growls and noises he was making. Snorting and shaking his head, until he had broken down the door, with a wagging tail he clung to Yuuji that entire night. Not wanting to leave his side for anything. The next day Yuuji had revealed that he wasn’t completely human either. They had been nearly inseparable since then.
No matter how much Yuuji slipped into the world of uncertainty, he could count on Megumi to confide in. Nobara as well, she knew more about demons than anyone else he knew. Well, besides Suguru that is. Yuuji had confessed to drinking blood to her, while it seemed off putting at first she supposed it was no different than her taking the life force from men and women alike through her sexual endeavors. They had not shied away from him in the slightest, taking all of Yuuji. While they seemed to cling to his more human side heavier, they understood that wasn’t his entirety. Slowly, Yuuji was learning the way to his own acceptance. To fear himself less with every passing day.
The pair had taken to the back roads home, since the sun had already started its descent over the horizon by the time they had made it outside. Even if they did not make it to Megumi’s house in time, if they were close enough Yuuji was sure he could get the oversized puppy in the home before anyone spotted them. Sure he may have to carry a man sized dog, but it wouldn’t be the first time he had done this for his friend. The street lights began to flicker on just as they rounded to about a block from Megumi’s apartment. Luck seemed to be on their side as the streets thinned out into a very small trickle of bodies that lingers before starting up to the complex.
Yuuji’s brow furrowed as the pinks and purples of the sky faded into deep blues. Night had devoured their horizon much too soon. Golden eyes looked back to his friend, he had watched as Megumi’s foot fall became slower, his breath grew to soft, labored pants. Teeth clenched in a painful manner as his face contorted in a grimace to match. Full moons were always the worst nights, Megumi couldn’t control the shift. It took over both mind and body, destroyed his will and humanity. While he was normally an easily irritated fellow on most days, it was nothing compared to his more beastly form. Gnashing his teeth at anyone he didn’t trust, fiercely protecting his territory and pack alike. But under that rage was something much more concerning. Confusion. Fear. He had no real context for the lights on the streets, sound of cars passing by or the scent of people. Yuuji understood the feeling, he used to be the same way as a child.
There was always Sukuna he could lean on, confide his problems to. Megumi didn’t have anyone that understood. His half sister was human, his father was human. They were terrified and at a loss on what to do. Yuuji wondered what would have happened if he had not been there that first night? Toji was a bit of a deadbeat, he always smelled faintly of blood when he did roll into town. Yuuji was weary of that man, but Megumi’s sister was sweet and kind. She was scared but instantly went to check on Megumi’s wellbeing. While Toji… Toji pulled out a silver knife to defend himself. But Yuuji supposed he couldn’t blame the man too much. It was a stressful situation. For someone that knew nothing but violence it was the only logical move.
With his hand extended out to his best friend he offered his comfort. Megumi looked at him, tears brimming at the edge of those emerald eyes in pain alone. But he took it even still. He would squeeze hard enough to almost crush every bone in Yuuji’s hand. Only to receive a squeeze right back, comforting, biting through the pain because it was nothing compared to Megumi. It had been years of this routine, years of biting back the pain. Megumi didn’t scream like the first time, his body trembled every time. If Yuuji could take that pain away he would, no matter what it costs.
The snapping of bones and sickeningly wet stretching of skin filled their little alley way. Yuuji tore his eyes off the sight, he had to just to keep himself sane. It was always grotesque, the bending of limbs in ways they shouldn't, the forced rearranging of one’s entire being. The entire process took only a matter of ten minutes. Before what stood in front of Yuuji was a large black wolf with a white underside. It stood upon its back legs, being nearly an entire foot taller than Yuuji if it straightened its back. There was panting, whimpering that came from a mussel lined with sharpened teeth. Those bright green eyes had never changed however. Its claws kept a tight grip on Yuuji’s hand, before he lifted the one he still had free to pet over the beast’s head.
“Are you doing okay Megumi?” Yuuji kept his voice soft, careful as he wrapped his arms around the beast. Compression therapy helped right? Maybe it would be more comforting than the sights and smells of such a busy place. But the solid body against Yuuji didn’t relax like normal, there were no eager tail wags and forced sneezes in a playful manner. Those arms pulled tighter onto Yuuji still, but none of this felt right. “M-Megumi?”
Yuuji knew he should have pulled away when he didn’t get the normal reaction. He knew something was wrong, but he was stubborn. He truly could not blame Megumi for any of this. His back was lit aflame, both sets of claws dug through his jacket, through his shirt and into his skin. The cuts were deep, but not enough to nick anything vital. The cloth probably kept that from happening. Yuuji’s teeth clenched and his eyes widened in shock. For the first time, he felt fear coursing through him. Fear of Megumi Fushiguro.
A struggle ensued, Yuuji already knew he was fighting for his life here. He pulled back once Megumi had gone from embedding those claws into his skin to the pieces of clothing, ripping off both Yuuji’s shirt and jacket in one go. Teeth bared art him, ears pinned back. Those green eyes looked to be in a haze, unfocused, his nose twitched against the cool night air. Before it was buried into the pieces of shredded clothing, still snarling as he continued to tear it all to shreds. Ribbons of fabric flittered to the ground, some being whisked away by the wind. The pain quickly became an afterthought as Yuuji readied himself for a fight. He didn’t have the option to run, he would be releasing a monster onto the streets, on innocent people. His best option here was to subdue Megumi and take him inside by any means possible. Unlike a fully fledged demon, Yuuji didn’t have the ability to heal himself. He had to get this over with quickly, he could feel the blood pour down his back from his wounds, staining the back of his jeans. He couldn’t succumb to the blood loss before he finished what needed to be done.
“Alright dog brain, I don’t know what set you off but I can’t let you run wild.” Yuuji called out to get the beast’s undivided attention. The snarl the creature made was guttural, low. Reverberating from the back of the beast’s throat and sending a flame up Yuuji’s spine. Instinct alone told him he was in danger, that the other was going to slaughter him if he didn’t run for his life. Yuuji was terrified. But he was not a spineless man, even if he was ripped to shreds, he would get Megumi in that damn house. Yuuji quickly moved his hand into the pocket of his jeans, those blessed silver knuckles sure would come in handy right now-
Nothing. Clattered against the dingy alleyway asphalt lay the weapons. Yuuji had slipped them into his jacket pockets for easier access. Looks like Yuuji would be relying on his own raw power in this one. Not that this was an abnormal request for the halfling. Megumi seemed to have no qualms with attacking first. With claws and teeth bare the beast lept from the ground. Yuuji already knew this was not a simple sparring match. This monster wanted him dead.
The beast didn’t allow Yuuji to dodge, there weren't many places he could run after all. Going on the main street would lead to more people getting attacked, possibly killed. So Yuuji dodged a swipe as he pulled left. Then stepping right as the other claws swiped to his right. The free hand came down the same time as the swipe. Yuuji barely had time to defend, with his forearm coming up to guard his face. Claws slashed and dug into bare skin, this time with no cloth to hinder the strike. Another wound, more blood being lost. He needed to end this quickly. Yuuji needed to create distance. His foot pivoted, pushing his weight against it to rotate his body and jump away.
Only for his movement to become sluggish at the last minute. His head spun, disorienting his surroundings. His trajectory misplaced as his muscles tensed and locked. Adrenaline could really only drive his body so far. For as much as he delved into the world of monsters and demons, he would never truly hold their strength or stamina. His body was also half human after all. Yuuji barely got a glance up, only to be met with teeth lunging at him. At his throat. This was really how it ended…
His body hit the ground in a soft thud, then there was a whimper from above. Something wet pressed against the side of his throat, but it was not accompanied by jagged teeth. Instead there was a warm breath, he was being sniffed at. Taking in his scent deeply, those low tail wags and ears pinned down accompanied it like always. The whining started up again, obviously ashamed and upset as the monster leaned down on all fours and practically circled Yuuji. Now Megumi recognized him? What changed??
“you smell like soot.”
Shit. Yuuji should have thought about that. He smelt like an actual demon, a threat. No wonder he reacted that way. Now the beast was frantic, trying to lick at his wounds and push him with his snout. Realizing exactly what it had done far too late to repair the damage. Yuuji lifted his hand weakly to stroke at the beat’s head. A smile graced his lips.
“Hey it’s okay… you were probably so scared” Yuuji spoke in a hushed tone. Trying his best to ease the panic that had taken hold of his best friend. Monster or not, he didn’t deserve this. With a deep breath in, Yuuji pulled himself up on shaky limbs. This was his chance. Megumi was calm, he could take him inside. Yuuji wrapped his arm tight around the beast’s neck. Using it to keep him upright before stumbling forward to the edge of the alley. “Come on big guy. Let's get you home.”
His limbs feel heavy with every step. Like lead, or treading through the world’s thickest mud. Yuuji barely stopped a moment to make sure no one was around. He knew if he faltered too long he may pass out. While it was unlikely Megumi would leave his side the rest of the night, Yuuji wouldn’t make it that long without serious medical attention. The idea of Megumi waking up in some alleyway next to his best friend’s body was too much for Yuuji. He didn’t plan on dying here, but in case he did he wanted it to be far away from here. Lesson Megumi’s guilt. Making it up the steps was the hardest part. Even though Megumi lived on the first floor, there were two steps to get to the door. Yuuji was quick to find the man’s spare key, unlock the door and shove the beast in. Locking it right after.
Thud.
Yuuji’s body slumped against the wood of the door, his breath came in soft shallow pants. His head was the first to hit the wood. He was lucky he had a thick skull. Yuuji fished his phone from his pocket, falling down onto his knees as he searched for someone to call. He couldn’t call Sukuna. The man may never forgive Megumi for such a thing. Even if it wasn’t really him that had attacked. So Yuuji called the only other person he could.
“Satoru… I- I need your help.”
Chapter 15: Human
Chapter Text
A steady buzz against the back of Satrou’s jeans rang through the silent room. His legs crossed over one another as he lounged about his home, a nice glass of blood already against his soft lips. There was nothing that could ever compare to the taste of his half-ling lover. That soft sweetness mixed with the more spicy notes of his demonic side. It was addicting from the first taste alone. He would have to get another taste next time he had Yuuji all to himself. After another buzz or two the vampire pulled his phone from his pocket. Speak of the devil. Satoru was quick to answer as he pressed the device against his ear. A purr in his tone to greet his little lover.
“Hey baby, what’s u-” Satrou didn’t even manage to finish his greeting before a labored breath faced his ear. The man’s words were strained, tired. Perhaps holding back pain as they were forcefully pushed passed his lips.
“Satoru… I- I need your help.”
Those words already set off alarm bells. His body locked up and his breath caught in his throat for a moment. One… Two… Another deep breath as eyes closed tight. He shouldn’t jump to conclusions. The mind was a horrible thing. Hearing the strain in his lover’s tone had Satoriu focused. Careful questions to not set off alarm if somehow the man had been caught up in things far below him. Whatever manner of man or beast had inflicted such pain would be torn to pieces. This was a promise given in a silent roar in the back of Satoru’s mind.
“Where are you? I’ll be there in two minutes tops.”
“Um” Yuuji paused, as if to take in the surrounding area. “Shit my heads spinning, hold on.” Yuuji groaned out from the other end of the line. “I’m- I’m maybe a block away from my apartment. By the little cafe you like.” His tone was labored and sluggish, he was fighting to even stay awake at this point. “Satoru.” His name was pleaded for, begging salvation with that simple word. “Hurry.”
“I’ll be there soon, just try to stay awake for me.” Satoru tried his best to keep a level head, but inside he was seething. Without bothering to hang up, his little teleportation powers sure did come in handy in times like these. He appeared in front of the cafe first, his nose slightly up in the air to catch Yuuji’s scent. Blood wasn’t hard to pick out of a crowd, especially that of a halfling. As easy as it was for a vampire, it was equally as so for any vultures looking for easy prey. His love was not prey.
That thought alone made his blood boil. This paired with not hearing any response on the other end of the line. He supposed the poor thing couldn’t stay awake. The amount of blood that lingered in the air only rushed those already frantic pacing steps. The pale man moved swiftly through the street, warping closer and closer by a few feet. Ignoring every little human around him. Gaze fixated forward as every nerve in his body was lit aflame. Yuuji. Sweet, strong, beautiful Yuuji had been hurt. Death would be a mercy if Satoru were to ever catch the poor unfortunate soul that had done this. His steps slowed until he finally came upon his lover.
Left shoulder slightly propped against the pillar at the entryway to some low end apartment complex. Yuuji was out cold, his phone had clattered in front of him, having slipped from his limp hand and his breath was shallow but steady. Red stained his jeans, his tan skin. The man’s left forearm was ripped to shreds while blood pooled up behind his body. His head hung limply against the stone, hair a mess with dirt and grime. There was little hesitation in the Vampire’s inspection. Tattered and dirt stained pants showed scuff against them, but no rips. Yuuji lacked a shirt, or jacket to ward himself against the unforgiving cold. Once Satoru finally did find the source of the pool of red around him, teeth clenched against one another. Fangs bared towards nothing in particular. His body barely reacted to being jostled around, only a soft groan escaped barely parted lips. His head lulled and rolled like a ball on a string. Collapsed completely against Satoru’s chest. The vampire had seen marks like that before. Some damn mutt thought they could just rip his lover apart and leave him to die?
Within the blink of an eye they had made it home, with a frantic dash towards the bathroom Satoru clambered for the first aid kit. Tearing open the kit that had been collecting dust ever since he bought the damn thing. Strictly purchased for his more human companions in case they were to somehow get hurt in his home. The medical wrap was the first to be ripped from the plastic casing. Only for the realization to set in that simply wrapping the wounds would not stop the significant bleeding issue. Clambering for another solution, a pale hand met with the softness of an even paler towel. Sacrificing the pure white plush item for a makeshift tourniquet. While Satoru dealt with blood quite a bit, stopping it was a whole different matter altogether. So he called up the only person he knew could help. It took a few rings and some incoherent rambling before Shoko agreed to come by.
Next was the call to Suguru, even if only to inform him what had happened. They were both dating Yuuji after all, he deserved to know the state their lover was in. A declaration that he too would be showing up soon enough served to slightly ease Satoru’s mind. Those deep ethereal blue eyes never once left Yuuji throughout all this. Steadily watching his chest rise and fall. His face was pale, ghostly almost. The sight alone made Satoru’s stomach churn with unease. How had he let this happen? How could any of this happen? Satoru was the strongest! Strong enough to protect those he cared for. But in that moment something inside him began to crack. A slight realization taking over his mind.
Yuuji Itadori was still half human, that part of him was fragile.
The back of his fingers carefully stroked Yuuji’s cheek. A feather-like touch. It didn’t get even a twitch from those blissfully unaware features. Satoru spoke up softly. His voice barely audible, for the first time in a long time Satoru felt lost. He felt just as weak as his lover.
“I will never let you get hurt like this again. I swear it.”
It wasn’t long before the black haired demon stormed his way in with Shoko quickly in toe. There was a look in those sharp eyes that sent a shiver even down Satoru's spine. The demon was not pleased about the news, or the lack of information on who perpetrated the attack. Shoko was swift to start removing the towel from the wounds on Yuuji’s back and arm, He had been laid face down against one of Satoru’s rather lavished couches, spilling blood onto the lightly colored material. Not that anyone really cared to take note of this fact, a replacement couch was a lot easier than trying to replace Yuuji. The fibers from the towel clung to the slightly coagulated blood, sticky threads still clung to ruined flesh. The cuts were not clean, they were jagged, with pieces of skin hanging in shredded strips. Some came off into the towel itself in small chunks. With a slight of hand the woman pulled out a pair of latex gloves and a suture kit from her pocket. A small bag at her side kept disinfectant along with other items that a standard first aid kit just wouldn’t carry. Slowly she began her work.
“Do… Do you think he’ll be okay?” Suguru broke the silence first. Something Satoru was glad for.
“Yes, he’s lost a lot of blood but he seems to be holding up well. Aren’t halflings supposed to be sturdy?” She asked with a slight glance up to Suguru, as if trying to reassure that everything would be okay.
“I know they are- and that Yuuji is but-”
“I’ve never seen him this bad before. He’s so pale.” Satoru finished,he wasn’t sure when his pacing had started, but it was the complete length of the couch. Back and forth behind it, sparing a glance as the needles tugged at his lover’s skin. A hand brought up to his mouth as he pieced together what to do next. “It was a werewolf that had attacked, he smelt like it when I found him and those claw marks are unmistakable.”
“Werewolves don’t have any poison or anything like that to them. So all the damage is strictly physical.Which is easier to heal in the long run. Besides, if he’s anything like Sukuna none of that would matter.” Suguru pointed out quickly. “Even if the beast bit him he wouldn’t turn into one.”
“That doesn’t mean we should just let that thing get away with this! Beast or not it needs to be dealt with!” Satoru demanded as he finally stopped his pacing, teeth bared in his frustration. In desperation. “Yuuji- I refuse to let anything that harms him live.”
“So you are going to scour the streets for a beast that could be miles away by now?” Suguru asked with a slight sneer. “Leave him here when he needs us the most? At least wait until he is recovered a bit before you go tearing through the city,”
“You can stay with him until he wakes.” Satoru countered. He felt lost, powerless and helpless. Seeing someone he cared so deeply for in a state of such disrepair. Torn and broken like a toy another had possessed, it was all unacceptable.
“Satoru.” Suguru spoke his name in a soft, knowing tone. Taking a step into Satoru’s pacing path. Blocking him from continuing on, forcing his mind to focus completely on him. His attention steered away from vitriolic emotions. “I know you’re upset, how do you think I feel? How do you think he will feel when he wakes up without the man that saved him?”
“He will still have you…” Satoru muttered, but he was deflating fast. The fire behind those eyes began to dim with his temper. Stating this fact for a second time seemed to take the logic away from the statement. Take away his need for closure, just wanting to see Yuuji’s eyes light up and a smile cross his face again.
“That is true, but he would do better with both of us.” Suguru gently placed a hand against Satoru’s cheek. Warm calloused skin caressed against the hollow of his pale cheek. A soft, but almost tired smile graced Sugurus lips before he spoke once more. “Let's wait until he wakes up, then we can both hunt that filthy little mutt down.”
A deep sigh pushed up through Satoru’s throat. Aiming to take the tension from his shoulders along with it. A task far too great for one breath to bear. That warm hand still cradled against his skin, to show his appreciation Satoru would take it in his own. Tilting his head to kiss at the palm that showed him the most comfort. That showed his guidance in a time that he truly needed.
“Alright, he’s all sewn up. He lost a lot of blood but his vitals are stable. Heart Rate is steady and so is his breath. Let him rest for at least a few days. I can come by and cut them out in two weeks.” Shoko said as she stood up, peeling away a pair of latex gloves. “Just… take good care of him until then. His body has been through a lot.”
“Of course. I really owe you this time Shoko.” Satoru gained a smile once more. Yuuji would be okay, he was stronger than any human or beast Satoru had ever come across. After the woman took her leave Satoru gave a glance to the black haired demon at his side. “Contact Sukuna. Let him know Yuuji is safe. We can’t risk him intruding on us again.”
