Chapter Text
Solitary Confinement had become a regular thing.
Klee would accidentally do something with her bombs, Jean would send Klee to Solitary Confinement, Klee would draw or look out the window, Jean would let Klee out.
Overall, Solitary Confinement was fine, just really boring.
One time, when she was especially bored she tried to escape out the window. Well, she also thought that she saw her mom, and it was in the middle of the night.
It was not her mom, but rather, a very angry and very tired Jean.
Let’s just say that she lost her ‘window privileges’ for who knows how long.
Klee never saw the dark the same after that, she became terrified of it. Terrified of how the shadows could change any shape and contort someone as much as it had to the point where she was seeing her own dear mother instead of the tired blonde knight who was in charge of taking care of her.
She had accepted her hate of the dark and tried to avoid it as much as possible. She would start sleeping earlier so she would not be alone in a dark room, and if she couldn’t sleep she would keep all of her lamps on until she slept or even occasionally the sun rose the next morning.
Solitary confinement was always the worst though. The lights had been flickering recently but pretty much no one had been able to fix it. Everyone was busy with the recent attacks that have been getting more and more fierce recently. Everyone was either fighting, off somewhere to research about it, or busy tending to the wounded and cleaning.

“Please Jean! I promise, Klee will be a very good girl and not cause any problem for the knights and all the bombs will blow in the abyss orders direction pleassseee?” Klee had begged Jean to let her help for forever, she could help the knights, fight the abyss order and get some action, and the best of all she could stay out of that dark solitary confinement room, the lights flickering and going dark more often and for longer now.
“Klee, I already told you, that is no place for a child and you need to keep safe in here, not out there where you could get hurt. I’m sorry me and everyone else has been so busy but for your own safety stay inside and let the grownups deal with this.” Jean had replied. She had been so busy with her work recently with all the attacks leaving her with even more problems and work than she already had. Jean was a tired mess right now, to put it simply.
“But Jean-” Klee had been cut off.
“That's enough Klee, go back to the headquarters now.” Jean had said in a very stern voice.
Klee had slowly walked back to the Knights of Favonius Headquarters until she heard a strange sound coming from a bush. Perfect! This was a great chance for her to show that she was helpful.
Klee walked over to the bush, planning to plant one of her most explodie formulas until she saw a face peeking out of the bush. It was mask like with a pitch black face like the abyss and two red glowing eyes and-
**BOOM**
Shoot. Klee had quickly realized that this was not anything small but it was in fact an abyss mage. Smoke was still clearing around them and the abyss mage was nowhere to be seen but it had hurt Klee's with a big scrape on her knee that hurt a lot. Klee could feel the tears well up into her eyes as she laid on the ground unmoving, frozen with fear and taking very quick breaths. She had put together that only her knee was hurt but she could not help but panic at that moment. She sat there and curled her knees up to her chest despite the one screaming in pain, her adrenaline had prevented her from completely feeling it and started sobbing her eyes out finally as her body unclenched from the fear she had felt.
“SPARK KNIGHT KLEE, GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!”
Oh no. Klee recognised that voice, it was a very pissed and tired Jean, and she never used Klees full title unless she was in very big trouble.
“Klee! I told you to go back to Headquarte- nevermind I don’t have time for this…” Klee watched in horror as Jean grabbed Klee’s wrist and started dragging her to the dreaded solitary confinement. Exactly the place she was trying to avoid. The place where all of this started.
“Master Jean- I didn’t do it! It was an abyss mage!” Klee was fumbling with her words. She was being a good girl! But the words fell down her throat as she heard the door lock.
She turned around.
The light gave out.
