Chapter Text
Kuwei still can’t believe it’s real at times.
The sheer impossibility of it all; the idea that the two people he had fallen for wanted him back? The Kuwei of a few years ago–a few months ago, even–would never have believed it.
Kuwei had always been an outsider. And since his father’s death, he’d been entirely alone. Sure, he’d managed to stumble his way through life on wit and masked emotions, false confidence and lies, but it wasn’t really a way of truly living.
There was always a sullen weight on his shoulders–unshakeable and almost unbearably heavy. He always felt like something was clawing at his heart, leaving nothing but a mangled mess of blood and longing behind.
But now he steps onto the Barrel docks, breathing in the–frankly rancid, but familiar–air that means he’s home. That means just a few blocks away, his boyfriends are waiting for him. That means he can fall into Wylan and Jesper’s arms and listen to them tease him as they shower him with kisses.
The giddy smile on his face is never ending–has been since their first night together. Their first date. Their first everything. Warmth wraps around him like a blanket at every thought about them; stars dance in his vision, growing more dazzling with every step towards the Crow Club where Kuwei knows they’ll be meeting for a night out together after his short trip to visit Ravka.
‘Nights out’ with Wylan and Jesper mean holding hands beneath a sparkling sky, laughing over something sweet to eat, and being far too soft and sappy at a bar before they stumble home clinging onto each other and collapse into their bed.
Kuwei can’t wait. Even just a week apart has chipped away at him in a way that is almost embarrassing. He just… Kuwei loves them.
As he steps into the club, he can feel his cheeks burning. Exhilaration sets his skin on fire at that thought–that declaration. Love. It’s something Kuwei isn’t exactly used to, but with Wylan and Jesper… it feels a little bit like forever.
He’s so dazed–floating in rosé tinted state of mind—as he makes his way towards their booth at the back, he collides with someone else.
Kuwei simply giggles and tries to step around him with a rushed “sorry” because he’s so close to seeing them. To being home. But an awed breath stops him.
“Wow, the man Kuwei ran into says. He’s a little taller than him, probably around Wylan’s height, with blond hair swept away from his face. His accent isn’t Kerch, so likely a traveler indulging in the wonders the Barrel had to offer. Lawless living. His eyes sweep over Kuwei before meeting his gaze ans smiling shyly. “You’re the most gorgeous person I’ve ever met.”
It’s kind, really it is. But Kuwei just honestly couldn’t care less. How could he? How could he possibly when he has the two most amazing boyfriends waiting for him. Who he loves and oh he’s never going to get tired of that.
“I’m not sure we’ve really ‘met,’ but that’s sweet of you.” Kuwei smiles fleetingly before turning again, itching to escape because surely Wylan and Jesper are only a few steps away, only to be stopped by the man again.
“D’you want to get out of here? And properly meet?” The man asks, stepping closer and reaching out his hand in an offer.
Kuwei huffs a little. It’s entirely inconvenient. He hasn’t seen his boyfriends for a week and he would very much like to immediately. But before he can even open his mouth to innocently decline, he feels familiar hands on his hips spinning him around.
“Wy-“ Kuwei starts to say brightly but is cut off by Wylan kissing him. Hard.
He pulls him close until their bodies are pressed flush—hot and heavy and all consuming as he devours him.
And Kuwei is more than happy with this turn of events. He flings his arms around Wylan’s neck and kisses back with all he has. Behind him, he feels Jesper slide up and start pressing open-mouthed kisses up and down his neck, nipping slightly at the skin there and Kuwei is imploding.
His stomach leaps, his heart soars, he thinks about love love love.
When he and Wylan part, Kuwei turns to silently beg for a kiss from Jesper too with a quirked eyebrow and drawing his lower lip slightly beneath his teeth. Jesper hums and obliges easily.
“I know you missed me, but wow.” Kuwei flutters his eyelashes dramatically and falls back against Jesper’s chest. Wylan follows, cupping his face in his hands and kissing everywhere he can possibly think of: his forehead, his cheeks, the bridge of his nose. Kuwei laughs and pulls him as close as he can get so they’re all three connected.
“We like to make an entrance,” Jesper jokes, but Wylan still hasn’t spoken.
“Wy?”
And Wylan leans back the tiniest bit to look over Kuwei’s shoulder and past Jesper. His eyes sharpen with something angry and annoyed: cold as ice.
“You’re still here?” He bites out bitterly, hands slipping up underneath Kuwei’s shirt, making him gasp. It’s delicious, the heat that shoots up his spine to arch his back. “Fuck off.”
“Wha- Who are y-“ the man who’d been flirting with Kuwei starts but is cut off abruptly.
Wylan grabs Kuwei’s thigh and hitches it around his waist. Jesper pushes in closer behind him so his own thigh locks him in. It’s amazing. “I said, fuck off. And you might want to hurry.”
Kuwei is on fire. Everything is burning in the best ways. He hears footsteps frantically retreating behind but barely pays them any mind. All that matter right now is them.
Wylan turns fully to him then, harsh stare replaced with something soft and adoring. “We missed you, Wei.”
Kuwei melts into it, letting himself go boneless against them.
“I think you might’ve terrified him, love.” Jesper chuckles, glancing back to where the man has scurried off to.
“And I should care because?” Wylan looks too, like he wants to set the place where the man so much as stood on fire. “He deserved it. Kuwei is ours.”
And Kuwei thinks he might pass out.
“And he’s not going to ruin our night of welcoming Kuwei back and reminding him of how much we missed him and love him. He’s lucky I let him walk away.”
Yeah. Kuwei is going to pass out.
“You love me?” It’s quiet. Almost silent. Because well… Kuwei has known he loved them. Has felt it with every breath he takes, but hearing it back for the first time… It’s…
It’s everything.
Wylan looks confused for a moment, but then realization dawns on him and he hastily grabs Kuwei’s and Jesper’s hands—bringing them all together.
“I love you, Kuwei Yul-Bo.” Wylan smiles when he says it, brighter than Kuwei had ever seen him.
“And I love you, Kuwei Yul-Bo,” Jesper repeats: voice infinitely, wonderfully fond.
Kuwei thinks his smile might be permanent at this point. If you could bottle sunshine, that’s surely how bright his heart would be right now. “I love you both too.”
Wylan leans forward to kiss Kuwei again—gentle and adoring—then leans up to do the same to Jesper. “Let’s go home now, yeah?”
And they do. Hand in hand.
